Homeward Bound (For a Few Days)

September 2, 2017 at 8:38 am by Claudia

This is called grabbing your cell phone while sitting at the desk preparing to write a post and taking a picture so you have something to put in the post.

Just being ‘transparent.’

We had our last run-through in the rehearsal room yesterday and it went very well. Then Darko treated us to drinks and pizza at a local restaurant. I normally avoid these things but I made myself go and socialize with the cast. Not that it’s hard, mind you, I really like these actors and they’re a lot of fun.

I just tend to be solitary, as you know.

Today the cast moves into the theater. Spacing is on the docket for today. This involves going through the play on the actual set, making adjustments, seeing how the picture looks, getting used to various levels, etc. Tomorrow is the first day of tech.

Since I am not needed for spacing or for the first two days or so of tech, I’ll be home with Don and Stella for four days, heading back on Wednesday, unless tech goes extremely quickly (doubtful) and I’m needed on Tuesday. I’m grateful for the chance to spend a few days back home because Don leaves for NYC next Sunday and I’ll be smack in the middle of Previews, so I won’t be able to see him right before he leaves.

Tonight, we will cook on Stella for the first time – yes, Don hasn’t used her yet – and I’ll be baking Grandma’s Cloud Biscuits. Very exciting!

Happy Saturday.

A perfect first to cook in Stella, Claudia. Enjoy these few days at home with Don. When/where will you be able to join him for a couple of days?

Don’t know yet. I’m doing a bit of work on another show after this one. It rehearses in NY, so I’ll see him on those days and maybe spend the night. He’ll come home on his days off.

Me too. This is another one of those years where we’re apart more than we’re together and it gets old very fast!

Biscuits put on hold until Sunday night because I have to buy some eggs. But you’ll definitely get pictures. I hope you’re getting some rest, Linda.

We’re not baking ANYthing in this house. SoCalif is in a brutal heatwave and we were 108 degrees (f) yesterday, in the deep shade of our backyard, at 11am; 100 degrees as I write this today at noon and, mind you, I live very near the cool Pacific Ocean (this isn’t the desert)…but I fear it’s wrong to really complain of it, considering what our friends are going through in southeast Texas, where we once ourselves lived; it’s such a sobering, horrifying time.

The heat wave is terrible and fires near Burbank, as well. Hang in there, Vicki.

I bet these may be the best cloud biscuits ever ~ courtesy of Stella!! Can’t wait to see the pics (hint, hint). Actually, turning on the oven sounds like a good idea here! Only supposed to reach 67* today. 80* tomorrow.

Hope you have a grand time at home over these next several days. Have fun!!

What fun! I adore biscuits. When I find a new blog I like to go back and read earlier posts, and I just read the one where you had the ultimate wish list for Christmas and there was an antique stove on your list! And now you have her. So cool! :) Kit

Don hasn’t fired up Stella at all yet? How has he boiled water for coffee? The microwave, I guess. Well, with her vast experience Stella is sure to be a wonderful cook, especially with you two “at the helm” – so best of luck christening Stella. Looking forward to a grand tour, and to seeing Stella’s first efforts. Enjoy the long weekend too! Peace. 🏡

We have a carafe that I bought for when one of us is out of town – especially in a hotel – and it heats water very quickly. He’s been using that. He’ll take it with him to NYC.

      Thanks, Janet!

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
