The hostas just started to bloom. Those little flowers are so delicate. They don’t last long, so I’m going to enjoy them while I can.
We’ve had horrendous humidity the last couple of days. Yesterday was unbearable and today? The heat index will reach 100°. Weather like this really affects my respiratory system. We have yet to turn the A/C on this morning, but we will soon. We had a very early thunderstorm around 5 am. Quite spectacular!
We’ve had the adult male gypsy moths flying around here for a week or so. Did you know that the females (who are white) do not fly? I guess they just hang out waiting to lay eggs. The males – who are a tan/brown – do not eat, but they do fly. And they only live for a week. There are so many of them around here, but they were gentle. We even rescued some who accidentally got inside. I figure if they only get to live for a week, they deserve to fly as much as they can. In the past couple of days, the numbers have greatly decreased, and it has been about a week since we first saw them.
Ella showing off one of three t-shirts in different colors with this message. Cute as f____. I know some of you don’t use that word, but I sure do. It’s the perfect word to use as an invective because it starts with a fricative (f) and ends with a plosive (k). Also, my mother’s favorite word, sh___t, has the same combination. There’s a reason people like those words. If you were here with me, I’d speak Mom’s word in the way that only she could. I still imitate her!
Anyway, on we go. Hot, hot, hot today so I’ll be staying indoors,
Stay safe.
Happy Saturday.

When I turned sixteen, my mother gave me permission to say damn and hell and, “If you’re extremely provoked, you may say sh-t.” I guess our mothers had something in common.
Claudia says
My mom did not like F—k, and she didn’t swear, as a rule, but she loved the word sh_t.
Stay safe, Margaret.

My mother – and father, for that matter, – would probably have died before using the f word, and none of their four children used it around them.
Claudia says
Oh, we didn’t either! We would have been in big trouble. xo

good morning!
i’ve said it before and i’ll say it again … your photos are incredible, with wonderful composition and color and great depth of field (as with these hostas). great job, claudia!
thanks for helping the gypsy moth get outside (also, sorry you have to deal with them). i am not at my apartment much, maybe five hours a week and not overnight, but on the rare occasion i found a bug, i tried to get it outside, too. exceptions made for especially creepy-to-me bugs, super-fast bugs and any found once i’ve been ready for bed (no going down all those steps at midnight!).
glad you have the air conditioner to fight the heat and humidity. stay safe in every way!
chipping away at my to-do list here; a lot done so far this morning and that feels good. had a couple of ideas about those children’s books i’ve been also chipping away at and want to work on them. will finish the have-to stuff first and enjoy time with family members, too (and i keep a piece of paper handy for ideas, words and phrases that pop into my head regardless of other things).
hope you, don and everyone else have a great weekend! stay safe.
kathy

Thanks so much, Kathy.

dear Claudia/Don — this little girl reminds me so much of our “youngest” daughter (turning 45 tomorrow, ha!!) but her hair was reddish blonde (when finally grew in w/tight corkscrew curls at age 3)!! Until then only could see those big, blue eyes. I also have “favorite” words but do try to restrain myself a little, especially when grands are within hearing range, haha!! Just don’t get my Irish up b/c then all bets are off !! hope your heat wave will end soon and that your electricity will remain working — same here sorry to say, but at least is not 100 or over yet. stay safe/healthy

Luckily, we don’t have to worry about children hearing us!
Stay safe.

I like and use both those, too “f…” only when I’m over the top about something (which politically of late, I’ve been). The other is far more common and used in all its forms — verb, adverb, noun, adjective and probably many others!
I’ve been having terrible breathing issues of late. I’m pretty sure it’s my lungs; I’ll know more when I get the XR and lab results back. Meanwhile, living relatively quietly — still having fun but not doing laps!
Enjoy the rest of the weekend!
Claudia says
I’m so sorry to hear of your problems breathing, Jeanie. I know you’ll take it easy. Praying for relief for you very soon.
Stay safe.

Love Ella’s cute t-shirt. I’ve been know to utter the f-word on occasion, okay, many occasions, lol. Sometimes it’s the only word that works. Stay cool. Hugs, Elaine

Thanks, Elaine.

So sorry you’re still struggling with high temps and humidity. Makes me feel so fortunate to have cooler weather and low humidity. I know our time is coming so savoring this. Some of our Hostas have lavender blooms coming. With all the shady areas on our lot, we grow about every type of Hosta there is.
Love Ella’s shirt. I agree the “F” word is sometimes the only appropriate one for the circumstance. Otherwise, your mom’s word works too. I’m about to use one or the other of them because I’m coming down with my second cold of the year today!
Take care,
Kay
Claudia says
I’m so sorry about your cold! Hope you feel better soon.
Stay safe, Kay.

I am so Happy the French rejected the far right, now let’s hope we in the USA will reject the right.
I use a lot of “colorful” words and since 2016 I have increasingly used the F bomb . Why ? Politics and the horrid right ..maga movement which is anti democratic. I do not have to go on, you know. I don’t use the words in public.
I wish you lovely summer days and nights,
Kaye

Thank you so much, Kaye.
