Crap. We’re supposed to get 8 – 12 inches of snow overnight and into Tuesday. This is a big storm which will have an impact on NYC and Long Island and the Hudson Valley (where we live.) So far, it looks like the Hudson Valley will get the most snow. Yippee.
Careful what you wish for…we were talking to the young man at the cash register at our local grocery store a couple of days ago and the talk turned to snow. Both Don and the young man said they’d like to see a bit more snow this winter.
Thanks, guys! You’re getting your wish.
And to my weather app: It’s not sunny outside. At all.
We watched the Super Bowl last night – a true rarity around here. I confess, I have been caught up in the Taylor Swift/Travis Kelce romance and the idiot backlash from men who are apparently threatened by a successful, powerful woman – so fragile, these ‘men.’ So we decided to watch (with a wee break in the middle for All Creatures Great and Small.) What a game! We thought Kansas City was going to lose and then it all changed. I’m sorry for those who were cheering for San Francisco, but we were happy with the outcome. This, from two people who really don’t care about football.
Oh, and All Creatures…it touches my heart so deeply. It is beautifully done on every level.
So, today we prep for the storm and then, we sit back and watch the snow fall. There will be wind, as well, as this will be a nor’easter. Time to batten down the hatches, I guess.
Holly is wearing a little sweater that my friend Kathy made. I first saw it at Wonderland of Play but I was so overwhelmed by the whole thing that I didn’t buy it. But Kathy told me it was still available, so I purchased it a week or so later. I happened to have that beret already and it’s a perfect match to the sweater.
Holly was excited that she was allowed to go outside for a brief moment.
Stay safe.
Happy Monday.
Elaine in Toronto says
Love what looks like to be a wee patch on the sleeve of Holly’s sweater. So cute. I’m so looking forward to the season finale of All Creatures next Sunday. I believe it’s a two hour episode. It’s Christmas and James is trying to get home to be with Helen as she gives birth. I’m so glad there is going to be a fifth season. Stay safe and warm in the snow. Hopefully it won’t be as bad as they forecast. Hugs, Elaine
Claudia says
It was much less than forecast, Elaine.
Stay safe.
Ellen D. says
Stay safe and cozy, Claudia!
Claudia says
Thank you, Ellen.

Being in the Bay Area I was definitely rooting for the 49ers, but a win wasn’t happening this year. Cheers to the Chiefs. That sounds like a lot of snow you’ll be getting. Hopefully it won’t be as much as predicted, and it is pretty to look at. We’re expecting more heavy rain this weekend, which could cause more damaging flooding in areas. Looking forward to spring. That sweater is so cute, especially since it matches the beret. Holly wears it well! Stay warm.
Claudia says
Thank you, Barrie.
Stay safe.

I remember my husband said something similar before our last heavy snowfall…and it turned into a blizzard. lol About all you can do is hunker down.
I had to record All Creatures because of the game. Looking forward to watching it later…perhaps while sipping a cup of tea or two. Might as well get as authentic as I can eh?
Hope the storm isn’t as bad as predicted. Enjoy the snow! ;)

It was much less than predicted, Donnamae.

dear Claudia/Don — that is a great sweater and beret — do the crafters use toothpicks to create those tiny stitches?? haha!! we are expecting 2-4 inches of snow over nite so guess I won’t see it fall — how can it be since temps are 40s – 50s?? until overnite at least. saw forecast where they mentioned specifically Hudson River Valley — thought about you all. pls stay safe/healthy
Claudia says
We only got about 2 inches, Linda!
A big relief.
Stay safe.
Kay in SE Wisconsin says
Oh, no! As I’ve always said, February is THE worst month of winter. At least if it stays as cold as it is, it won’t be the wet, heavy stuff we had during our January warm spell that did so much damage to our trees and made us fear possible roof damage.
Was surprised I saw the entire game too. Not a fan of what I refer to as the National Head Injury League. During our D.C. tenure, one of the clients Dean lobbied for was the National Head Injury Foundation. So even way back in the ’80’s I knew more than I wanted to about how they devastate families. But I digress. The halftime show was so good and they kept the Swift sideshow to a minimum, though we learned her boyfriend has some serious anger management issues. That was shameful.
Looking forward to watching All Creatures today. A few weeks ago I went to record an ep so husband could watch his beloved Green Bay Packers lose their playoff game and made a happy discovery. All the seasons’ episodes to date were on the record list. Apparently I recorded the very first episode and must have hit “record series.” How it knew to go on to record the second and third seasons on it’s own is beyond me.
Stay warm and I’ll keep fingers crossed that you don’t get all the snow they’re predicting.
Kay

I always think of head injuries when I watch football.
Stay safe, Kay.
Judy Hariton says
I love Holly and her beautiful sweater and beret! Well, North West Jersey is expecting some snow, maybe 8 inches, but who really knows? We are hunkering down as well. Stay safe!
Claudia says
We ended up getting much less than predicted, Judy. Hope all is well where you are.
Stay safe.
Linda MacKean says
Stay warm and safe!! It is raining here so not going out today as planned. I also watched the Super Bowl which I seldom do and enjoyed it. I need to catch up on All Creatures Great and Small. It is a wonder show. I have laundry to (does it ever end?) so that’s the goal for today. Hugs to you and Don.
Claudia says
Hugs to you, dear Linda.
Stay safe.
kathy in iowa says
hope you are stocked up with whatever you may need and want. praying you, don and everyone else in the storm’s path stay home and stay safe if you get any snow and especially eight inches to a foot of it!
watched the big game here, too. i am not at all into football, but my father is so i enjoyed watching it with him and my sister. brownies were enjoyed, if not the outcome … but it was a good game to watch with all the back-and-forth.
as you’ve heard, i’ve been thinking about moving, if i could find a larger place that is older and more house-like. well, i haven’t found anything yet so this morning i took time just looking at what i like and don’t like about my current spot and then made a few quick, easy changes. more to do, but think what i did today helped. :) then i read a few chapters of “war and peace”, knit a bit on a wool hat and will head out for a ride soon.
hope you all have a wonderful day and stay safe.
kathy
Claudia says
We got much less snow than predicted, Kathy.
Those little changes can make a big difference!

I don’t know that I can say I watched the Super Bowl, but it was on as we played Scrabble (If I hadn’t been stuck with the darned J drawn on my last hand, I would have won!). But I did watch much of the last quarter and of course the overtime. It was pretty darned exciting and I don’t even like football. Good luck with the storm. I hope it’s shortlived and doesn’t leave much behind.
Claudia says
The storm was a piece of cake – much less than predicted.
Stay safe, Jeanie.

Holly looks adorable, that subdued color pallet is wonderful with her fair coloring.

Claudia says
She’s pretty striking, Ceci!

Chris K in WI says
Holly looks a bit apprehensive about the oncoming storm. Listened to the news tonight and they said the Hudson Valley should get the most, but what I find lately, is whatever they say, it is quite (too) often the opposite. With the warmer temps, it seems to not stay around too long. That is quite fine with me.
Hope not much materializes so there isn’t much snow blowing or shoveling to be done.
ACG&S was a good one on Sunday. We did the same thing with the Super Bowl and took the hour to watch it. So sad next week is the finale. Booooo!!!! But it looked like it will be a very good episode. And then we wait………
Claudia says
You are right – the storm took a turn southward and we only got about 2 inches!
Yes, and then we wait another year.
Stay safe, Chris.
Deb in Phoenix says
Yes it does look like you are going to get hit hard. I would cozy up and just enjoy the beautiful snow. I just got back from San Diego where the weather is perfect! Not a cloud in the sky. I have 2 sisters so we planned a sister weekend. I am the middle one. We had such a good time! My older sister lives there and me and my younger sister live in Phoenix. We did a lot of eating! Now I am home recovering. It was a lot of walking for me. Stay nice and warm and get us some photos. Take care.
Claudia says
Glad you had a good time with your sisters in San Diego, Deb.
Stay safe.
DebH says
As a Kansas City girl, the Super Bowl was so exciting, particularly with the outcome! I personally think the Taylor Swift/Travis Kelce relationship is so much fun. I’m happy that the two of them -both at the peak of their outstanding careers- found each other and are enjoying life! Go Chiefs! Go Tayvis!
Claudia says
I’m in!
Stay safe, Deb.
