I have a serious case of the I Wants. I have wanted one of these vintage dress forms for so long! I see them everywhere in blogland. My fellow bloggers are so creative – they adorn their dress forms in jewelry, hats, clothing, you name it. The one pictured above is from the Barn Sale back in San Diego.
Of course, I have no idea where I am going to put it in tiny little Mockingbird Hill Cottage. But why bother dealing with such a silly worry? I would find a place…I would.
My preference would be vintage, but I have seen a few wonderful tutorials on aging a new dress form. That would certainly cost less and the ‘aged’ forms I have seen are wonderfully vintage looking. There is even a Vintage Dress Forms Flickr group. Such eye candy! (The forms pictured above are from Vignettes.)
A girl can dream….

Hi Claudia, I LOVE them, too! I looked for years and years before I found one I could afford…it now lives in my guest room. :-) http://betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com/2008/10/revealwelcome-to-my-guest-room.html
The prices seem to be higher than ever when I come across them now, while out antiquing. Sure hope you find one…I will keep my fingers crossed! I just know you will! Please come get me when you do…I want to see it! :-)

What would you dress it up in?
Wow, I just ended a sentence with TWO prepositions!
I can’t picture one in my house. No. Not with my tricky son living so close.
I had one of those time out dolls, or sometimes people called them Hide and Seek dolls.
Whenever he would visit he’d put it in the shower, or behind a door or in a bathtub; somewhere startling.
Who raised that kid!!??

They are great but I am staying away because I’d have to get rid of furniture and give away a dog to fit one in my house! hehe
Hugs. Lisa

I too, have ALWAYS wanted one. You’re right, the vintage ones are gorgeous, but I too have read “how to’s” on hoe to age a new one to look old. Maybe one day we’ll both get lucky and find one…
If you get a chance, stop by my Blog and say hi! I just put up a new post…
Have a great week,
Aimee

Oh, I know what you mean. I was in Nesting on Main the other day in Concord, Ma. They had a Vintage dress form that was covered in ephemera and varnished to shiny perfection. But, the price tag…$250.00. Well, maybe I could try decoupage again.

Oh Claudia!
I know exactly what you mean sweet thing. I am wanting one every since Marydon bought me that cute little cherry apron. I am thinking I would put that apron on it, and set it in a corner of the dining room. She could be changed out every so often with another one of my aprons (make her Seasonal) that would be her name (Seasonal). I have a dream!!
I am leaving on Wednesday for Oklahoma. I will be away from my blog for about 3 weeks. It is time to go and be with my sweet sister. She needs me. While I am gone Heidi Girl will be carrying the torch for me. I will talk to her daily and she will post my updates about our Amy Girl. You can keep an eye on her blog. I believe you visit there already so you know the path. Take care my sweet friend. Please pray for the family. I am driving straight through about 20+ hours. DH cannot drive, as 30 minutes into a trip he starts falling asleep. I am leaving Wednesday morning about 3am. Talk to you the end of the month. I cherish our friendship my friend. Country hugs and love, Sherry

I’m with you! I want one too and have no idea where it would live. They are expensive and sooo hard to find. I would love to have a mini one that would sit on a table top even but I can’t find one of those either. So, I shall wish along with you and take a peak at that flickr group!!

LOVE them, too! I have about 5 or 6 dress forms and I am still tempted to buy more when I see them! My poor hubby puts up with them scattered about the house — what a sport! :)
Ebay always has some neat ones!! Once you get one, well… you get hooked! :)

I soooo want a dress form. I would take vintage. I would take new. Mainly. I want it to use so I can do some altered couture. It’s not the same without one. I have the trims. I have the dresses, skirts and jackets. I just NEED a dress form. LOL! That is a beautiful one.

Claudia, your pictures are gorgeous! I hope you find a form to your liking soon!
I can’t say that I’ve ever wanted one . . . my Grandma had one, but I don’t know what happened to it. Honestly, they kind of creep me out! LOL!!
Hugs,
Teresa

I’m the same way, Claudia… I just love the way they look but I have no idea where I’d put one! I guess for the time being I’ll have to be satisfied with my styrofoam wig head!… Donna

Holly and I love them too. She may ask her Aunties for one as her combined Birthday/Christmas gift. We did find a life size wire/metal one at TJMax a few weeks ago. She has her faierie costume on it and I hung a cute little sign around its neck. Good luck finding yours!
Blessings~LillySue
