Though I’m well and truly sick of winter, I must admit the beauty of bare tree branches against a sky filled with puffy pink clouds is breathtaking. It’s all in the timing, isn’t it? I just happened to be letting Scout out as the clouds turned pink and the sun started setting.
Speaking of Scout, we had a rather tough night last night. Shortly before bedtime, I noticed she was limping. I assumed it was her arthritis. She seemed to be in some pain. I finally realized, just as I was about to make my way upstairs to bed, that she’d torn a nail. It was still attached, but barely. Whenever I touched it, she started trembling. I called the vet’s – they always have a doctor on call – and he told me to wrap it (I already had) and that it would wait until this morning. Poor baby. It hurts her. I ended up sleeping downstairs on the sofa so I could keep an eye on her.
Not too comfortable. So I’m a wee bit sleep deprived.
Don doesn’t arrive home until late tonight – past my usual bedtime, in fact – after having been in California for nine weeks. He’s excited to be coming back home and we’re excited to have him here once again. Life in the theater sometimes requires long periods away from home. I’ll be gone for five weeks in April and May. And who knows what other jobs lie in store for him? We are truly happy being in each other’s company, so separations are never easy.
Thank you, thank you for all the lovely comments you left on my Five Years of Blogging post. They warmed my heart. If you didn’t happen to see it, you can click on the link or simply scroll down one post. I’m giving away an Obsession Scarf to one lucky commenter. I think I’ll keep the comments open until Friday night. Then I’ll choose the winner. Good luck!
This will be rather short as I have to call the Vet’s and, perhaps, cancel another appointment. I want my girl feeling tip top for her father’s homecoming!
It may officially be a holiday, but it’s a full Monday for me!
Happy Monday.
Oh I am so sorry about your puppy. I hope she is better soon.
Yippee!!! Excited that Don will be home soon.
Have a wonderful day.
xo rachel
She’s back home and doing fine.
Nothing worse than seeing one of your babies suffering, furrkid or human kid. I hope the doctor gets her all patched up.
She’s doing well. The nail is a bit sensitive but she’s a lot better.
Poor baby, I hope that she is all fixed up soon, that must hurt.
Wonderful news for you that Don is coming home, I bet you are looking forward to it.
Jen
I am.
Having a baby who can’t talk and tell you what’s wrong is frustrating. Sure glad you figured out Scout’s problem. Hope you all have a happy reunion. It was really cold here in Fla. last night, the low 30’s where we are. That’s so cold for those of us used to our state’s warmth. I too, love the beauty of bare branches in the winter time and the splendor of sunrise.
My sister is complaining about the cold in Florida. It’s all relative, isn’t it?
Poor Scout…hope she feels better quickly! Don’s coming home…happy for you. Separations are never easy, no matter how short or long they may be! This is me being happy…
Left out my happy face…
I’m happy, too, Donnamae!
Wow…that is a gorgeous shot of the sky!
So sorry about Scout. I hope she feels better after seeing the vet.
Wishing Don safe travels. I’m so happy for you both…nine weeks is such a long time!
XO,
Jane
Scout is a lot better, it wasn’t as bad as I thought it might be.
Poor Scout! I hope she is feeling much better after a Vet visit! Maybe you can take an afternoon nap and then be awake for Don’s arrival. I know you are happy he is coming home! It’s a cold day here but at least the sun is shining.
hugs, Linda
Cold here and the sun is also shining. But poor Don, tomorrow it’s going to be the dreaded ‘wintry mix’ so that means gray skies.
Oh, the photo is lovely. I have always loved seeing the splashes of pink in a faded blue sky as well. Something magical about the setting sun.
Hope you sweet little Scout gets to feeling better. :)
Enjoy the home coming and wishing you a lovely day, too.
Thank you!
Poor Scout…I wonder if there is anything the vet can do for a torn nail? YAY on Don finally coming home tonight! I’m sure he will be so glad to be home and you will be even happier to have him there! :-)
The vet just removes the part that has torn off. In this case, it was pretty easy, thank goodness.
Hi Claudia~~~So sorry for poor Scout :0( She will feel better soon. Our little Cookie has one more day of antibiotics for an ear infection. It’s a chronic ailment with poodles no matter how careful we are with her grooming. Anyway, she is back to her peppy personality & that’s a good thing. Love the posted photo. We are expecting more snow on Wednesday~~~but I bought some hollyhock bulbs yesterday anyway in a beautiful pink! Can’t wait to get them planted. I’m thinking I will go get some in red also. Have a wonderful day! XOXO, Linda
I’m ready for spring, Linda!
Oh, poor Scout! I hope the vet is able to relieve her pain! I think the snow and ice are hard on little doggy paws. I saw that same beautiful pink sky yesterday afternoon and watched it move until the pink was gone. It was truly impressive! I’m sure you are looking forward to seeing Don tonight! Linda
She seems a lot better now. It will be sensitive for a while, but she’s not in pain anymore.
Sorry Scout had a bad night…………you too! Hopefully a little nap later today after the errands etc. in preparation for Don’s arrival………………I’m sure it will be a late night with so much to talk about etc.
Love and hugs – Mary
Can’t wait to see him!
I hope Scout is feeling better those can really hurt. Glad Don is coming home today you will both be so happy to see him.
Have a lovely day,
Sue
She’s feeling a lot better now, Sue.
I’m happy that Don will be home, and hoping Scout’s nail heals quickly. xo
Thank you, Barbara.
So sorry about Scout. Hope it can be an easy fix without pain. My Izzy (Yorkie) has a bad patella and has to have surgery. It slips in and out but she isn’t in alot of pain……at least we don’t think. But she doesn’t like the vet to mess with it,
Have a great time with Don.
Glad that you are getting work again. It’s a good sign with the economy, I think. Not so much with the gas prices and the taxes, but hey, any good thing is a good thing.
(((((HUGS))))
Poor Izzy! When is her surgery scheduled?
I hope Scout is feeling better soon. Glad you could see what the source of the problem is. My Shepherd is limping badly too, poor guy. Getting him to the vet. Don’t we love these sweet creatures who bring us so much joy!
We sure do. I can’t imagine life without them!
Claudia, so sorry Scoutie is not feeling well. I hope she feels better and enjoys seeing Don later tonite!! Enjoy your reunion time seeing your hubby again!!! Francine
She’s doing better after her visit to the Vet, Francine. I’m greatly relieved!
bless scout! welcome home don! and to you dear claudia….so glad you are better. so glad you began blogging 5 years ago & that i found you a couple years later…don’t know what i’d do without my daily dose of claudia. do you have your favorite blogs too? how many do you read a day? my list is evergrowing. well hugs as your life returns to normal! xxoo
I do have favorite blogs and I love discovering new blogs, as well. I have my blog list (at the top of the blog) but I read so many more than are listed there. I keep bookmarking more and more of them!
Good luck to scout I feel badly about that, and for you not getting enough sleep. Hope all turns out well and a happy homecoming to your Don as well. I am sure you will both sleep like babies when you are all together.
It will be wonderful to have the family back together again!
So sorry to hear about your baby. I have 5 fur babies and they are so much like our children. I know when they hurt , we hurt. I know you are happy about Don’s return. I so much love your blog. You seem to have such an interesting life. Compared to mine anyway. Please throw my name in the hat for your scarf. They are absolutely beautiful.
I’d love for you to be entered but you have to leave a comment on that specific post. Otherwise, I can’t include you in the giveaway. So hop on over and leave a comment there!
Oh Claudia, so sorry to hear about Scout. Hope she feels better and that it is something simple. Yay for Don returning home! Nine weeks is a long time. Yours will be a happy home this week. Ann
She’s doing better, Ann. Poor thing was in a lot of pain, but is much better now.
Oh poor Scout. I hope the vet is able to take care of it for her and she won’t have anymore pain. I know what you mean about Dn returning home. When my hubby used to travel life kind of went on “hold” until he returned. We also love being together. Nine weeks is very long to be apart.
Blessings,
Betsy
Well, I can occupy myself, but it just isn’t a home without him here.
Poor baby — I hope her toe gets healed soon.
Thank you, Sarah. She’s doing better.
Oh, I know you must be thrilled that Don is coming home. Have a wonderful reunion and take care of that precious baby.
Hugs,
Laura
Oh poor Scout! I bet that is really ouchy! It will be fixed in no time by the vet. She will be so happy to see Don that she will forget all about it. I am sure you are getting excited for him to walk in the door. Hope you have a very happy homecoming with him! ~Hugs, Patti
Hi Claudia! I hope all went well with Scout at the vet and her ouchie is all better. Poor sweetie. Just a few short hours and Don will be home. Happy welcome home to all of you!
Sorry about Scout. When my furbaby gets hurt, I feel worse than he does. Give her hugs for me. Say hello to Don and we are all glad he is coming home.
Poor little Scout…It hurts to see our babies in pain.
So glad Don is on his way home .I’d imagine as I am writing this he may be home.
Enjoy this wonderful time together….See you in a few days.
Smiles,
Carolynn
Those separations must be very hard on you… and after the winter we’ve been having, I bet you were very tempted to just go join him for a week or two.. or three!
Poor girl. I hope she is feeling better soon. You’re a good mother.
So happy to read that your Don is coming home. I can only imagine how much you two have missed each other.♥
Poor Scout. And poor you that you didn’t get to sleep well. I hope you’re both feeling better, Claudia. Such a lovely sunset in your photo! Winter skies are so beautiful, a shade of aqua-blue you don’t see at any other time of year.
