I drove to the Apple Store yesterday – the closest one is an hour away – and had a chat with a tech at the Genius Bar. We think we’ve resolved things, but I’m going to keep an eye on the laptop and if the issue arises again, it will be off to the store once more.
Fingers crossed!
It’s been coolish around here for the last two days. The high yesterday was 72 degrees. It was cloudy as well, and Don and I remarked that it felt like mid-September. I think the warmer temps will be back on Sunday.
I got the test results back the other day. I officially have Lyme. Good thing I didn’t wait for the results to start the medication!
We watched His Girl Friday again last night. There was nothing else on (PBS is doing its fundraiser which always results in programming that is, let’s face it, rather unappealing) so we checked out TCM On Demand. With some sweet talking, I managed to persuade Don to watch it again, even though we’d seen it rather recently. And he laughed and laughed.
See? I was right.
What a fabulous movie, with razor-sharp, quick-paced dialogue, people talking over each other (like real life) and so much palpable energy that you can almost feel the sparks shooting out of the television. Just over an hour and a half in length, it moves very quickly. Rosalind Russell and Cary Grant are at the top of their game, as are the great character actors in supporting roles, including Ralph Bellamy.
Did I ever tell you Don got to work with Ralph Bellamy? The did an episode of L.A. Law together. Don played his attorney and the filming lasted a week with lots of scenes in the courtroom, so Don got to sit next to Mr. Bellamy and hear stories about his pals and his years in Hollywood.
Someday, I’ll write a post about all the actors Don has worked with – you’d be amazed.
The second morning glory bloomed on Thursday. By about four o’clock, it had closed.
Open or closed, the blossoms are truly lovely.

Claudia, I envy you! Here in AZ, morning glory plants are against the law. I can’t even order them online! It’s something about farmers saying that they are an invasive plant. I miss them. Love the photo. They really are just as pretty after they close.
Really? Are they THAT invasive? I’m so sorry! We had them in our rental’s back yard in San Diego and they completely covered the fence and came back every year, but you could control them with some judicious pinching off.
Glad to hear your computer is better. Did they know what the problem was?
It has to do with the RAM which might have become ‘unseated’ – in other words, loose. That result was lots of freezes where I had to completely turn off the computer and turn it on again. And I got a three beep warning, which is Apple’s way of letting you know there is a RAM problem. Apparently that can happen, especially with my model of the MacBook Pro. The tech guy ran a diagnostic and the hardware is fine, thank goodness. He also blew out some dust I’m going to keep an eye on it and if the freezing or beeps happen again, I’ll take it in and leave it overnight while they run a four hour diagnostic to see which RAM is creating the problem.

Claudia, That is so interesting about your husband. That would make a wonder blog story, maybe a week of all his actor friends and yours. Sorry you have that disease, but so good you knew what to do . Is it a life time kind of thing?? I am not sure , I guess I could look it up. Wishing you well. xoxo,Susie
I can, hopefully, knock the Lyme out of my system with this round of antibiotics. There’s always a chance it could flare up, but I’m saying “Outta here for good!”

Love the old movies and the witty dialogue. How fun that Don worked with Ralph Bellamy. I too would enjoy a post about all the actors he has worked with. Morning glories are like magic to me! When I was in 2nd grade I would walk to school and the morning glories were blooming but gone on the way home. Memories!

Two households on the same wavelength LOL. David DVR’d a lot of the Cary Grant movies they aired – we watched a sweet one yesterday with he and Betsy Drake that I’d never seen before. And the night before we watched The Awful Truth. Adore Cary Grant.

I am sorry to hear about the Lyme disease but glad you started on the meds right away. I am a classic movie fan and have been for a long time. My dad was an usher in a movie theatre in the early 40s and he turned me on to them. I watch TCM a lot and love the Summer Under The Stars tributes. His Girl Friday is a great one. I would love to know all the stars Don has worked with…so lucky!!
I was kind of relieved to have the official diagnosis. I would much rather it be something I was already being treated for rather than some other mystery ailment!

Morning glories are so beautiful. The colors are incredible. I don’t know why but I always think of them as a September flower. And I’m certainly not ready to accept September yet! LOL. Would love to hear about all the people Don’s worked with. I bet we’ll be amazed at the company he’s kept! PS – I still crack up when I remember the way he delivered a line on a “Frasier” episode I saw a few months ago. Have a great weekend, you two! Miss Scoutie too of course.

That is what I expected to hear and I was actually glad to hear it. I’m already on the road to recovery, so I didn’t want any surprises.
I also had on PBS the other night and they were fund raising then and was introduced to the 2 Cellos. I don’t know if you are familiar with these 2 fellas but that was what I would have to call raw talent. Sorry, just had to share. There is more on Google and of course you tube.

I too, would be interested in hearing about the people that Don has worked with over the years. I have only seen him in a couple of things, but I enjoy his acting, although something about his looks makes me feel as though he has lived a previous life – in London, perhaps? Heh.
He’d love to have lived in London. Me too!
I have always wondered why PBS puts the crappy programming on when they are trying to get people to donate. I’d be a lot more likely to donate if they asked me between shows I enjoy!
