A grand and glorious opening performance. A wonderful opening party on the lake. Fireworks. All in all, a lovely day yesterday. The show was beautifully performed and, once again, I was in tears at the end.
Thank you, Chautauqua. Thank you, Chautauqua Theater Company. I’m headed home today – it will be a long day of travel, but Don and Scout are on the other end.
Some more photos of this magical place.
The library.
Staircase in the library.
Running into acting conservatory students/cast members of Our Town.
As it was last year, leaving is bittersweet.
Happy Sunday.
Thank you for sharing this magical place with us.
And Happy Anniversary to you and Don!
Thank you, Sylvia!
Thank you for the photo-packed tour these past days. It sounds like you had a perfect end to your gig in Chataqua. And, oh, the joy of going home and seeing your loved ones! Feeling happy for you, Claudia!
Thank you, Vicki!
I always try to think calm and pleasing thoughts before I go to bed at night. Since you have been posting pictures of Chautauqua, those are what I have been replaying in my head as I fall asleep. I have been having wonderful dreams thanks to you Claudia.
Isn’t that great? Thanks, Tana!
Claudia, What beautiful memories you have made. Doris

Hope by the time you read my comment, you’ll be at or near home and your loved ones. Thank you for sharing your time at Chautauqua with your readers. Three weeks sure seemed to go by quickly.
They sure did!
Chautauqua is a wonderful place…but so is home…be safe..
Thank you, Nancy!
Well my dear, if you have to go to work it looks like this has been the perfect place at this time of year (winters may be different!). I just checked it on the map and see you are a long way from home – but they’ll be waiting and the homecoming will be beautiful I know.
Safe journey – thanks for sharing the town and lake, and so happy the play is now perfect, due much to your assistance I’m sure!
Hugs – Mary
Thank you, Mary!
Thanks for all the tours…really enjoyed your trip! There are magical places that all of us have…and it’s truly a blessing when we get to visit these places from time to time…but…as someone with red shoes once said….there’s no place like home! ;)
Agreed! I’m home with Don and Scout and that’s pretty great!
I love all the photos you take but these last few weeks have been spectacular.I love these old homes and am a secret back alley tourist. love the old neighborhoods with their old style backyards….nidia
Me too. Thank you, Nidia!
Thanks for sharing all of these gorgeous places with us. Travel safe. I know Don and Scout will be so glad to have you home.
Judy
Thanks, Judy!
Happy Sunday to you too, Claudia. Thank you for sharing all the beautiful photos . Enjoy your sweet homecoming.
Thank you, Susan!
I have thoroughly enjoyed all of your photos and descriptions of Chautauqua just as I did the last time you visited there. I would love to spend a summer in a place like that. Our Oregon weather was so hot yesterday and last night that I barely slept. (not to mention fireworks until all hours) My little pug couldn’t breath in the heat with no air conditioning and I was up all night with her trying to find ways to cool her off. When I did sleep I dreamed and in my dream was a dog that looked just like your Scoutie. The thing was, the dog in my dream was black and it was a boy. He ran off and I couldn’t find him. I was shouting “Scout” through the whole dream and woke crying. I guess it was the heat and worrying about my Phoebe. Funny the dog in my dream looked just like Scout and had the same name. Go figure. Enjoy your homecoming. Best to you and Don and Scoutie.
Sandra
Oh my! Scout was in your dream! She’ll be pleased to hear that, Sandra.
When you read this you will be home and Don and sweet Scout will be so happy… and MHC will breathe a sigh of relief to have everyone back where they belong!
Enjoy your return to the gardens,,,,, and remember, the weeds didn’t all grow in one day, so don’t try to tame them that quickly, either. There is time…… take a deep breath and enjoy the homecoming!!
I’m headed outside in a minute, Chris!
Chautauqua looks a little village that you and your imagination concocted on a long, rainy, stuck-inside Summer afternoon. In other words, it looks just like you, Claudia. Here’s hoping you get to visit again next year. Have a quick and safe trip home… :>)
Thank you, Janet!
Claudia, I know you are eager to get to your loved ones. I want to thank you for all these nice big pictures…it makes me feel like I can see more of that beautiful town. I have missed visiting your blog for a few days. Blessings to you, xoxo,Susie
I hope you got the chance to catch up on all the Chautauqua posts, Susie.

Thank you, Claudia, for all of the lovely posts from Chautauqua. I felt as though I were walking around there with you. By now, you are safe at home. Looking forward to reading about Scout and her days again.
Thank you, Nancy!
It was certainly a beautiful place to visit but I know “there’s no place like home.”
You’re right, Barbara!
