Life Today

September 15, 2022 at 9:16 am by Claudia

Puzzle on pause as I wait for my back to improve.

I’m not going to lie. I’m down today. I had difficulty sleeping because of back pain. I’m very saddened by the state of the world and this country. Governors using immigrants as pawns, shipping them off to blue states without explaining to them what is happening. Seeing notices about dogs about to be euthanized in shelters. People lying and cheating and saying deplorable things. The entire group of bots and racists tweeting terrible lies about Meghan Markle. They’re despicable.

Men telling women what they can and can’t do with their bodies.

A snarky comment on my sister’s blog that infuriates me.

I see this stuff every day but it seems to be hitting me especially hard today.

Where did this vileness (is that a word?) come from?

You don’t have to answer. We’ve talked about this before here on the blog.

I’m just letting you know what today is like for me. I’m a pretty positive person, so I’ll pull out of this soon.

I think I’ll lose myself in a good spy thriller. And have another cup of coffee.

Don’t worry, all is well.

Stay safe.

Happy Thursday.

despite all that vileness you mentioned (and more), i know that the good still outweighs the bad of this world. and that there is help. and answers. we (humanity) need to focus on and keep after those things …

… but breaks are needed so glad you’re taking one (i take lots). :) a good book and favorite beverage sound like a nice start.

hope your back feels better soon!

Kathy I love how you stay so positive but also admit that it is okay to ask for help if you need it. I always say “Be Kind” because you never know what someone is going through. We all have bad days, but when they start to be overwhelming, that is when you know you are on the wrong path. That is what hobbies are for! To take our mind off of all the negative floating around out there. Thanks for all of your good advice!

        hej, deb. :)

thanks very much for your kind words.

sometimes i feel like a ‘pessimist in optimist’s clothing’ (when i’ve watched the news, for example, especially before trying to go to sleep or when depression strikes harder), but i put my faith in God and keep praying and doing what good i can.

that’s great advice to be kind because you’re right … we often don’t know what troubles other people (the driver who’s tailgating way too close to our bumper, the clerk who doesn’t greet us as we enter the store …) are facing. thank you.

and hobbies … yes, good things! besides music, what are your hobbies? (painting, simple knitting and cross-stitch are a few of mine.)

hope you, your heart and your family are well and stay safe.

sending a hug (if okay) and still praying,
        kathy

My Golden Retriever, Gracie, is my emotional support dog. I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in 1998 and had to stop working my job as a vet tech. I have to battle the big D myself at times. I love to garden, decorate my house and, like Claudia, I have a miniature dollhouse. Love to walk Gracie.
          Thanks for asking.

sorry about the fibromyalgia and job loss. glad you and gracie have each other!!

i’ve not had a good place to garden (including now), but i sure appreciate gardeners’ and growers’ efforts and the outcomes. :)

and decorating. well, now it’s more rearranging/ organizing/puttering.

            happy friday!

            and stay safe and well.

Yes…I could get quite depressed about the state of affairs. But, as Kathy said and I believe also…”I know the good still outweighs the bad of this world.” I am hanging on to that.

A spy thriller sounds like a brilliant idea. I’m reading something similar….and it is riveting. State of Terror by Hilary Rodham Clinton and Louise Penny. I highly recommend.

Fingers crossed your back heals quickly. Enjoy your day! ;)

I fear “The world 🌎 is too much with us…”. We need to take a break now and again. There is goodness in our world but the news focuses on the bad. We must never forget the human spirit’s ability to bounce back from any adversity.

I ordered my Blythe doll. Can’t wait to get her. I’m thinking of calling her Jesse Elizabeth or Florence Rosina after my grandmothers. We’ll see.

    Take gentle care. Hugs, Elaine

I am amazed that we don’t all have more sad days. I’m not sure if more awful things are happening or if we just hear about them too much, or maybe both are true. It’s a beautiful day here and if it doesn’t hurt your back, I think of you on your porch swing with a cup of hot Cider. Maybe one of your girls and her dog with her. Sending smiles

I live in a very RED part of Oregon. Yesterday I saw a sign on a car that read: I’ll trade racists for immigrants. Thought to myself maybe there is hope. Wonder if they live here or were passing through. They had Oregon plates on their vehicle

    Please, take care of yourself.

Claudia, I have days like this, too! Nothing (or people) in this US A or world seems to cheer me up. I think it is because of the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. It is hard to just go on. Then those lame brain governors sending children and their parents to places where there were no preparations for them. Idiots!!!

Tomorrow will be a better day. I’ll make it a day filled with beauty and art.
    Best wishes,
    Lottie

Amen to all you have said. On and on we go. I have been taking a “news break” (again) to try and not go mad. I have been watching the news of the Queen and the ceremonies tapking place on the BBC channel. I recommend it to everyone.

The puzzle looks hard. A good book is always a wonderful thing! And hoping that your back feels better.

I know we will get through this. But, I have to say that I truly thought after the 4 years of Hell we lived through, that, we would be beyond a lot of this crap. That is the part that makes it most difficult for me. And no end in sight surely doesn’t help. Take care.

I seldom disagree with you but I do on the topic of Megan Markel. I think she is an unkind and selfish person. I think she is causing all sorts of problems but Harry is also. Wishing the Royal Family a peaceful goodbye to the Queen.

Wow. Really? She’s been harassed by the press. Said to be a person of ‘exotic blood,’ criticized for the same things Kate Middleton was praised for, called out for her ‘mixed blood’ and never once defended by the royal family. Harry is a strong man who saw what was happening to his wife, stood up to the press and to his family, and made a new life in America. You should listen to the latest statement by Harry – not the Oprah interview – and listen to his side. His mother was literally hounded by the press and the paparazzi and died because of it. I’ve seen all the harassment on Twitter. You wouldn’t believe what is said about her. It’s shameful. It’s racist. It’s still being spewed on a daily basis. And all this was going on and the family DID NOTHING TO STOP IT. One statement would have done it. They chose not to speak out and, believe me, Harry pleaded with them to.

I admire the Royal Family in some ways, but they do not have a history of stepping forward and defending people like Diana or Meghan. I know people who know Meghan and she is anything but unkind. She rescues animals, has always been involved in charitable work, long before she met Harry.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
