Lights

December 9, 2023 at 9:52 am by Claudia

The lights are on the tree. We left just the lights until today because it’s neat to see the tree that way.

I had to explain the lack of ornaments to Pru.

Sweaters: Some already altered, some about to be altered:

We have a big rain event headed this way tomorrow. It will be unseasonably warm today as this front comes in and then 2 – 3 inches of rain, plus winds, on Sunday into Monday, with a changeover into freezing rain or snow with warnings about black ice.

Oh, goody.

So, I think we have to hang the ornaments today so I can get all the bins safely back into the shed. There are 3 huge bins in the den taking up precious space and it’s already cluttered in this house, and if it’s icy, I don’t want to have to navigate to the shed.

We’re really happy with the tree, though it’s wonky in a way that makes it hard to hang lights uniformly. We don’t care. We like wonky.

This will be short because I spent a chunk of time this morning trying to get a good shot of Pru!

Stay safe.

Happy Saturday.

you did get a good shot of pru!

i like those sweaters. wish they came in my size as i am needing something more festive and colorful for Christmas.

i like wonky, too … trees and other things (and people) with character, not perfection. their uniqueness, and sometimes scrappiness, doesn’t hide or mean a lack of beauty and charm … it’s part of them.

best wishes and prayers for the tasks at hand and for staying safe with the winter-y weather in your forecast. we are to get some precipitation today. hoping it’s rain, but that depends on when it gets here. it’s currently 40 degrees so now would be a good time.

hope you, don and everyone else here have a great weekend ahead. stay safe!

We expecting several inches of rain and high winds. Nervous making.

      Stay safe, Kathy.

Pru wants to help decorate the tree. The Hill-Sparks girls are going to be nice and cozy come wintery weather. The sweaters are adorable. Stay safe if you get the freezing rain. It’s mild here today, too. I’m going to finish the wrapping and tidy the extra paper and ribbons away. Then maybe some baking. I do love this time of year, even grocery shopping with the Christmas music playing is fun. Enjoy trimming your tree. Oh, and wonky is good! Hugs, Elaine

We had to clear the gutters in prep for the rain and wind.

      No decorating the tree today!

      Stay safe, Elaine.

I love those little sweaters, and parkas. Do you have enough for all the girls?

We can’t have a tree…three curious cats will have it down in no time. But we do hang lights outside. Even though the current strands worked when we plugged them in, something happened once they were hung, there were unlit spots. . This afternoon, we’ll replace the old strands with the new ones that arrived yesterday. We noticed there are more decorated houses this year and many have gone all out.

Be careful navigating to the shed while carrying the cartons!

Yes, for sweaters. No for parkas, but I really don’t need them for every girl.

      Stay safe, Wendy.

So glad you got the tree in and up. It’s always such a seasonal boost. Yes, smart to decorate before the rains come but you can always move stuff that doesn’t hang right as the branches settle. (I move stuff all season!)

Love your sweater collection. Our Target didn’t have any of the red and white — those are extra cute!

Not all of the sweaters are from Target – they only have the white ones (and some in gray from last year.) The red and white are from Canadian Tire. I’ve sourced them from Kohl’s, Target, Canadian Tire, and a little shop online.

      Stay safe.

Yes, do decorate and get the bins out. Black ice scares the be-jeebers out of me. Sounds like today was a good one to stay indoors and veg. We decorated ours today and tonight, with my Christmas choirs playlist in the background, I’m sitting next to the tree enjoying the lights and sparkling ornaments.

    Those sweaters are the cutest.

    Take care,
    Kay

Nothing better than a Christmas tree, decorated and full of lights!

      Stay safe, Kay.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
