Little Avenues of Escape

July 19, 2024 at 8:29 am by Claudia

Taken from inside the living room.

These two bunnies hang out here a lot. I love watching them. They’ll suddenly start chasing each other in big circles. They make me laugh. This morning we watched them play again. They eat for a while, then suddenly they’re on the move running here and there. And my favorite: when they jump in the air, all four legs lifting them straight up. Pure joy.

It’s still hot, but the humidity broke in a series of thunderstorms that rolled in on Wednesday afternoon, thank goodness. I’m going to do some mowing this morning – the corral and the back forty. I’ve been too immersed in the political world, so I need to shake it off and do something physical. That always helps. I did yank some weeds yesterday and will do some more of that today.

I posted this on my Blythe feed the other day:

“They had a secret meeting.

After sitting at the bargaining table, it seems they feel they aren’t getting enough photo time.

They want a new contract.”

And then, later:

“The holdouts.”

Thank goodness for this little escape from the real world.

Stay safe.

Happy Friday.

It sure is. Especially – in this country – now.

      Stay safe, Elaine.

Cute photo of the tiny critters! I’m glad it has cooled off a bit. Same here so I should be able to get out for a walk today…
    Have a nice weekend, Claudia!

We’re warming up as you cool off a bit. It’s only today, as there is a downward slide into the low 70’s starting tomorrow before we head up again. I’m thankful that the part of the house in which I usually spend the day is the coolest side of the house. The cats, though, insist on spending their afternoon napping in my bedroom, the hottest room of the house.

I’ve finally finished sorting the thousands of family photos. Almost ready to assemble albums that are more photo safe than the previous magnetic page ones. I had to take apart six of those type and refill the individual photos with the other loose ones I keep in photo-safe boxes. This has been a long-time project and I hope I can finish it in a couple of months. Then onto organizing digital photos. It seemingly never ends.

Your striking animals make quite the statement! Do you keep all the photos you take, Claudia? I assume you only post a handful of all the photos you take? Do you delete rejects immediately or do you review your photos periodically?

Congrats on finishing your project, Wendy.

No, I delete photos, but periodically, not right away.

      Stay safe.

I can see the bunnies would be good entertainment! Your other animal collection is cute, too! We’re set for a hot day today…then some cooling.

With things the way they are politically, I think it’s vital for all of our sanities, that we find whatever little avenues of escape whenever we can.

Sorry to hear your creatures are “on strike”. Guess it’s time to do some bargaining. Good luck with that! ;)

dear Claudia/Don — those pixs of your “critters” are too cute !! as are the pixs of real bunnies !! we always have nest builders (rabbits) out in our yard — they get easily scared, run under bushes, shrubs and have caused me a lot of surprise at times especially early spring. have read some of your commenters and glad to know I am not the only one facing such an unknown future. Yesterday, one of our ggirls (who had been here a week) left for home and I really lost it. I held the tears until she was out of sight but she knew anyway. have been told I don’t really need to use my mouth b/c my eyes say it all. Goodbyes are not good for me. hope you all stay safe/healthy

Aw, Linda, I’m so sorry! I agree, goodbyes are very tough, especially when they involve an adored loved one.

      Stay safe.

We have had bunnies running around our front yard eating the grass and in the street. And we live very close to our downtown!

what a bunch of cuties! hopefully today’s photos appeased them and the strike is over. :)

clever reminder to deal with stress, take time for fun, listen to ourselves … thanks, claudia.

long day here, which included shopping for groceries/supplies (never fun for me), but also had a nice ride with members of my family, a favorite meal (creamed asparagus on toast … comfort food for me) and will get to do a bit of reading before going to bed. and there’s a decent chance for rain in the next 24 hours!

hope you, don and everyone else have had a good day. stay safe.

And yes, they should be on strike! Equal time! Because they are so darned adorable. So, I say , “Hear, hear!”

I love watching bunnies play. Squirrels, too, can be a hoot, but bunnies are just cuter! Your pair sounds pretty adorable.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
