Little Buttons

February 10, 2010 at 12:11 pm by Claudia

As I drove back from Providence on Sunday, I managed a quick stop at one of my favorite antique malls. Unfortunately, it is now a former favorite. It used to have so many wonderful booths, but has been very disappointing the last couple of visits. Most of the booths just have a lot of junk (and not the good kind) and look like someone just dumped stuff in the middle of the floor. It seems like no one cares or bothers to keep them fresh. Maybe the economy has taken its toll?

I did find one little treasure – antique aqua buttons on a beautiful card with amazing graphics:

Aren’t the graphics lovely? The button card has snagged a coveted spot on my reimagined bulletin board:

We’re having a big old snowstorm today. Right now, we are in a lull – the afternoon promises high winds and blizzard-like conditions.

Scout is on snow patrol.

The economy is hurting all the little shops in our area too. Many have closed or “converted” to thrift stores instead of antiques stores. It’s just a shame, but I love your buttons. Keep warm and safe in the storm!

How beautiful is Scout!!!! And what lovely blue buttons!

Yesterday I went to the Discovery Shop and noticed that their prices have gone up . . . it’s still a great place to find used/vintage items but it seems as the more popular it becomes the more the prices go up which then doesn’t make it quite the bargain!?!?

Yeah, the economy is taking it’s toll . . .

    Oooh, great find!

Too bad about your shopping spot. That’s happened to me before too. Could it just be that its slower in the winter?

The same thing is happening to all our Antique Malls here. That is if they are still open. I just can’t figure out where all this stuff is going. Did I miss some big clearance sale or something. But, I’ll keep looking as treasures like your buttons do show up every so often, but you have to dig don’t you

Speaking of digging, we are digging out here too….

Wonderful card of buttons in our favorite color. They just don’t do graphic like that anymore…what a neat find and it looks perfect on your Treasure Board. It’s cold here in Texas, but nothing like you guys are having. Good Boy, Scout!

Stay warm Claudia…you are having some wicked weather at the mo. We are off to chicago tomorrow and I am not looking forward to the cold :-(

Those buttons are a beautiful shade of blue. I was never a blue person but am finding that I am very drawn to it of late.

Oh Claudia I so love the bulletin board with the lovely aqua buttons, and the little bird just blends in with the trim. What an awesome job you did. I so love it. I am so tickled you decided to use it for adding things to. It really does look beautiful.

I am so glad you were able to get home before the storm hit. I am so thrilled to see Scout on patrol. He is beautiful and I am sure he is loving this weather.

Stay warm, be safe and have a beautiful evening sweetie.

    Hi Claudia,

I’m so glad you had a good trip, but it is a bummer to see old haunts change or go under. Those buttons are so stinkin’ cute and OMG your dog is gorgeous, what beautiful coloring!

    Have a warm night,
    Meri

Glad you made it safely home, Claudie, and with treasures in tow! Love your buttons.

You know, I have noticed here the same phenomenon. There was a time that I would have come home with ten items if I weren’t trying to control myself, but lately, it’s slim pickings.

I love Scout on patrol. He is so handsome.

    XO,

    Sheila :-)

Claudia I do believe you found a treasure. The buttons are beautiful, but you are right, the card makes them even more special. I have been in those kinds of venues myself and it seems such a shame. I love your pretty Scout!
I am so glad that you were able to meet Elyse in person and have some fun. There are so many of you that I would just love to meet.
Thank you so much for the sweet words you left for me. It is always such a joy to see you stopped by.

Awesome buttons!! Our stores here are having a time of it too. Some are coming back but rent is so high I cannot afford anything in them! Scout looks like she will keep it all under control! And I don’t envy you having to brush that coat! Wow is she ever ready for the snow!

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
