In my second installment of McCoy Monday, I am highlighting one of my very first pieces of McCoy Pottery.
This is from McCoy’s Arcature line – it was made in or around 1951. The columns on either side of the bird are hollow and can be filled with water and used as a vase. Personally, I don’t think it needs any other adornment, the fabulous bird in the center is pretty enough for me. I’ve written before about my love for anything with birds. Fortunately for me, McCoy used a lot of birds in their designs. This 3 dimensional bird is especially pretty.
Isn’t it sweet? I’ve fallen in love with this piece all over again. And an added benefit: as I pull these out to photograph, they get dusted and cleaned!
Have a great Monday! I’m cleaning out the closet in the office/music studio/spare bedroom that has all my stuff in it (fabric, crafts, dialect tapes, yarn – you name it.)
Claudia,
Now that’s one beautiful piece of McCoy…I have never seen one like this…so thanks for sharing it with me. I thought I would let you know that I’m adding you to my fav blog list (sidebar)…everybody needs to see your awesome blog:) Hope you have a great week!

Mc Coy and Birds, two of my favorite things!
This is gorgeous, Claudia! The little bird is precious – what a treasure!
That really is exceptionally lovely, honey. I can see why you love it.
Dust??? What’s dust??? I don’t do dust and it drives Love Bunny crazy! Okay, I do it every 3 months maybe. Shouldn’t that be enough?
xoxo,
Connie
that is so unique Claudia…love it, but I’ve never seen a piece of McCoy I didn’t love!:)
happy monday!
Claudia, you and I have SO much in common. I also love birds and have so many in my home! That is a beautiful piece. You have the best backdrop to photograph pieces – I’m smitten with your white brick wall.
Bellport looks like a town I’d love to explore! If it’s near the Hamptons I’m sure I’d never be able to afford to live there!
Have a wonderful week. And cleaning out one of our family room closets is on my agenda for the next week or two!
Donna
I love the sweet little bird! I don’t think it needs anything else either. My yard birds have been chirping all morning at the feeders! Happy sorting. That’s what I need to do with multiple closets and such in this house. Keep finding ways to put it off.
