Midweek

March 12, 2025 at 8:39 am by Claudia

I mean…could these two be any more adorable? Even though her body is the same as a Blythe body, she seems so tiny to me. And the Blythes seem way too big. My fantasy: I would love to have 3 or 4 of these little ones. I could create charming scenes with them; they’re easier to maneuver, and they can stand by themselves.

I’ll take a picture of Ruby with Wren and Lily (my other small ones) to show the difference in size. I’ll try to do that today.

It was quite warm – relatively – yesterday and Monday. Today will be cooler, but, save for a couple days when it hits 31 degrees at night, the forecast shows a definite warming trend. This may be the end of winter. Knock on wood! It’s way too soon to do anything in the gardens, but I feel that little spring-tingle – a quickening that tells me that everything will change very soon.

Don is a bit under the weather – a reaction to a shot he had. Poor baby. So I’m headed off to the store this morning to pick up a few things.

I’m reading, yes, but very slowly. I’m distracted by the crimes being committed in Washington DC. I avoid the news and I try to limit my exposure to social media, but, let’s face it, I’m tense and edgy. And it shows in my attention span, which is spotty, at best. The same thing is happening to Don.

So The Grey Wolf  is taking a lot longer to read than it normally would. It is what it is, I guess.

Stay safe.

Happy Wednesday.

So darling! Your picture of Ruby and the fawn is very sweet. I seem to be having the same issue with my reading. I think it’s been so cold I just want to keep bundled up. We are expecting heavy rain today and less so the next couple of days. We always need the rain. Enjoy your day.

Yes, we are still in a drought and there are burn bans right now.

      Stay safe, Barrie.

I have a friend who sends me jokes every morning. And, I can’t begin to tell you how much I need those every morning. What’s going on in Washington is no joke, and it is all so absolutely ridiculous at the same time. It doesn’t let up either, it’s non-stop! The worst part is we don’t know when our lives are going to fall apart…so it’s unsettling.

So….I relish the new buds that peeked out yesterday on my silver maple. And I jumped for joy at our cranes return. Even though we are in a drought, there is a prescribed burn today in the marsh. A sure sign of spring. These are the things I am concentrating on to get me through this difficult period.

Hope Don feels better. Enjoy your day! ;)

We are in drought, as well. So glad the cranes have returned, Donnamae!

      Stay safe.

Ruby seems to be beckoning her fawn to join her on the walk. She’s not bothered by puddles with those shoes on!

Heavy rain should begin soon here too, around lunchtime. But I’m in for the day so will find a project to keep busy. Reading seems to have gone by the wayside a bit for me too. I avoid news and am not on social media but I do get snippits plus I know what is happening now is worse than the last time the idiot was in office. So I am tense and worried.

On the positive side, I worked for two hours to find a mistake in my knitting, sorted it out yesterday evening, and am on track again. Why I like to watch pre-season baseball while knitting cable twists is a problem. The stitch pattern requires concentration.

Yes, it’s so easy to get distracted when knitting something particularly difficult.

Glad you’re in and don’t have to go out in the rain, Wendy.

      Stay safe.

dear Claudia/Don — hoping Don is feeling better by now — we (Mr and me) have a bad case of spring fever, ha !! temps in the 70s w/sunshine–feels great but wxman says big storms Fri/Sat w/tstorms then cooler — oh, well — enjoying it while we can !! we also are SO DONE w/donnie/lonnie and their antics — didn’t realize dictatorship was this gradual but it is happening every day w/o blocks from congress — just those of us who see this going on. Can US survive, intact as a nation??? w/o allies??? where are the Minutemen when we need them??? hoping for the best. stay safe/healthy

How could you not love Ruby’s sweet face? Hope Don is on the mend. Trump’s presidency is like a circus sideshow. Everyday there is something new to shake your heads over. Too bad he couldn’t be deported somewhere, preferably Russia. Hang in there. Hugs, Elaine

Sorry Don’s feeling a bit off colour. Hope he’s better soon. I completely understand why you need distractions.
I’m torn between trying to not watch the news and checking it to see if Europe is going to be plunged into war. I keep praying for peace everywhere.

    Take care

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
