We drove into our neighboring college town the other day to run a few errands. We have a favorite street there; it’s very old, with brick sidewalks, a couple of restaurants, two bookstores – one used, one new and used – a chocolate shop, a flower shop, and a synagogue. Don had to pick up a book he had ordered. On the way in, he pointed to something he thought I’d like.
Charming little miniature scenes were everywhere; at the base of trees, in a planter, outside the door. I don’t know who is behind them, but what a delightful surprise.
I was enchanted! And this message really resonated with me:
The perfect way to start off the week – with a message about kindness and a bit of whimsy.
Stay safe.
Happy Monday.

sounds like a fun outing and a fun street! those minis are adorable and i love the generosity of spirit to create and share such things with the world (and when the world leaves such public things be so lots of people can enjoy them). and the message is wonderful.
tired here, going on maybe four hours of sleep. for a good reason, though … we had some strong rains and thunder and lightning, off and on for three hours and i loved it!
hope you, don and everyone else have a great day. stay safe.

Powerful words .
My grandchildren and I have a fairy gardern….not as elaborate but just as whimsical. The youngest is now 10 and not that interested…..but I keep her on her toes….adding special touches now and then…and hope she remembers and smiles in the years to come.
Feeling lonely today. It was good of you to share. Thank you Claudia.

Very nice fairy garden! What a joy to find! I thought about making one when my granddaughters were younger but never got around to it.
Sounds like you and Don had a nice day out and about.
Take care

I would love to see that message in huge billboards all over the US. Imagine!
Those little scenes under trees…so imaginative. What a delight. Enjoy your day! ;)

I’m so pleased it’s started your week on a happy note. I love fairy house and gardens! There are quite a few in my little city too and all of them, from the simplest to the extravagant are so charming. In my neighborhood, there are four poetry trees. A man who lives nearby muses over his morning coffee, then pens a four-part poem and adheres them to the trunk of each tree. He writes a new poem nearly every day, claiming that he doesn’t think about or write them ahead of time. He just allows his morning reflections take shape.

Oh Claudia, this reminder that kindness matters could not have come at a more appropriate time. We need to take this to heart and put it into practice. We are rightfully offended at a political candidate who ridicules and calls his opponents childish names, yet we turn around and do the very same thing aimed at him. We are concerned about the possible cognitive decline of our sitting President but instead of showing support and at the very least thanking him for his many years of public service we make fun and call him names, forgetting that to show prejudice towards an older person is to show prejudice toward our future self. We claim we are fighting for our very democracy, but our voice is the only one we want heard and we will ridicule anyone who has a different opinion. I am all for blocking hateful speech but instead of blocking others simply because they differ in opinion, what if we instead show grace and respect and simply say “I disagree, but I hear you.” Don’t we all just want to be heard? Let’s all strive to show kindness toward each other. Our very existence depends on it. Thank you Claudia for letting me speak of something that has been weighing heavy on my heart.

Fairy gardens full of whimsy. I like anything like this. I have quite a few tree stumps leftover from the light blocking leylandii and a few weeks ago I was that someone had turned theirs into fairy houses. They had made a roof for the stumps painted to look like red/white spotted toadstools.
I think it might be my next project.
