It’s very foggy this morning. Though the rain was gone by yesterday, it was rather gloomy all day. Today, we might get a bit of sun. Fingers crossed.
We’ve been watching baseball most every night. Consequently, we’ve been staying up later than we usually do. The older I get, the harder it is to change my routine(s) – is the same true for you? In this case, we sleep in longer, so all my morning ‘chores’ are thrown off, including the blog.
I’ve always been someone who takes a long time to wake up in the morning. Most of my family knew not to talk too much to me first thing in the morning. Though my dad was very talky in the AM and couldn’t understand why I didn’t want to chat. Don understands, thank goodness. Though he, too, can be chatty first thing in the morning and sometimes I have to say “No more.” I need my coffee and some quiet time.
On Monday, I finally painted an abstract for the modern dollhouse. I wanted something rather large, so I found a good-sized canvas and went at it. It’s not so easy to paint something abstract, I have found, so it was a challenge. Originally, I was going to paint it in oils, but they take weeks to dry, and I didn’t want any of the paint coming off on the wall. So I grabbed the acrylics that I use for miniatures. I’m fairly pleased with it.

I have it propped up on a table behind the sofa. I’ll try to get a shot of the whole room later today; it involves temporarily removing the plexiglass panels. I’m looking for a rug for both this dollhouse and the girls’ house. (And all the rooms in the Beacon Hill, of course. But that’s in the future.) This space also needs some large potted plants.
This dollhouse is sitting on the bookcase in our bedroom.
We’re going to make ourselves walk at the library today. Now that we’re not doing much work outside, we need to make sure we get our steps in. Some outside chores are on the docket, thought. I will be mowing the front lawn later this week and Don has a lot of catalpa leaves to rake.
Stay safe.
Happy Wednesday.

I love the modern art, well done. Oh my routine getting disrupted sets my whole day off. I’m not chatty in the morning either and coffee and quiet are my waking up methods. Slowly checking in on the world to see if it’s still there. Enjoy your walk!
Thanks so much, Linda.

the painting looks great. you have many creative interests and talents! thanks for sharing them with us.
it’s true for me about changing routines. i do it for my family and friends and other times when i have to, but i am definitely a creature of habit. especially now being retired. :)
happy, safe wednesday to everyone.

Years ago we (my parents & I) visited some family friends who moved back to Houston, TX, from Midland, MI. We were staying with them and one morning while in the bathroom getting ready I heard the husband say “So, where is Little Miss Sunshine this morning?” I guess some of us are just not morning people! As I get older I can get up earlier in the morning but still need peace & quiet. Though how much you get when you live next to a service drive & a freeway is subjective!
Understand! We live on a very busy road, so there’s traffic sound starting in the early am.
Stay safe, Lucinda.
Oooh…I Iike the artwork you painted. It goes so well with the furniture.
I’m a rather quiet person in the morning, and because my husband gets up earlier than I most mornings, he’s fully awake and chatty, too. It’s rather comical when I think about it. I’m just not a person who wakes up raring to go first thing in the morning. I need my quiet time.
I am glad to hear you got some rain. Enjoy your library walk! ;)
Thank you, Donnamae.

Does the photo show the entire painting, or does the back of the sofa hide a bit of it? The painting fits the room. You can paint more pieces and the girls will have an art gallery!
A bit of it is hidden, but not much!
Thanks, Wendy.

Yes, i agree that abstracts are hard to paint. Nice room!
Thank you!
I like it — it fits beautifully. And I’m envisioning the rug and plants. It will be spectacular.
I’d give anything to get steps in these days. Four or five more weeks, then PT. Well, time to read, watch and paint.
I’m sorry you have to go through that, Jeanie. But yes, you can read and paint!
Stay safe.
Claudia, the photo of you as bride is just wonderful. You looked beautiful and so eloquent
Take Care,
Kaye
Thank you, Kaye.
