I wrote about Mom in yesterday’s post. Last night, around 9:30, I received phone calls from both my dad and my sister telling me that Mom was going to be admitted to the hospital. Her condition during the day (at the nursing home) was ‘deteriorating,’ though no one let us know that. She was increasingly hard to rouse and when they checked her oxygen level, it was low. The doctor on staff thought she should be admitted to the hospital, so she was taken there by an ambulance. Meredith drove over there and saw her while she was still in the ER. She has pneumonia.
We don’t know much more than that at the moment.
I don’t have much else to say this morning, my friends. I’m waiting to hear more.

Your mom is in my prayers. You are in my thoughts and prayers too. At times like this we start thinking back on our childhoods and can see things from an adult perspective and realize all our folks have done for us. Maybe not perfect, but we have learned that that is Ok. Parents put their lives into their children and for that we can never give enough thanks. Then we also remember the funny bits and that makes us smile while going through the difficult bits right now. So right now remember the sweet times and funny times and that will help you through. Glad your mom is in the hospital and they will take very good care of her.

I just prayed, Claudia. It seems that pneumonia is a common malady in nursing homes. My late BIL was a doctor, and I can remember him telling me that years ago. I hope and pray that she is better soon and that she can breathe better.

PS. When Granny was in the nursing home, I think I recall her having it and getting better after treatment, but Fred’s aunt who was in a fetal position never got it. They were in the same one. Go figure!

Thoughts of and prayers for your family. My mother had normal pressure hydrocephalus. She couldn’t even speak toward the end. It was heartbreaking to see her like that.

I’m so sorry to hear about your mom, Claudia. I’m not only sending her light and love, but prayers and peace as well. Same goes for you, my friend.
Claudia, I didn’t see your post yesterday because I was at my mom’s. I’m the caregiver at night this week. Mom has Alzheimer’s and we stay with her round the clock. Like your’s, my mom is an Olay lady and has the best skin to show for it. Each day after her bath, we rub on Olay moisture cream and spritz her with Opium, her fragrance. Mom still knows us, but not much else. We spend lots of hours repeating answers to her non stop questions. As you say, Mom isn’t here anymore, not our mom really. But a dear, sweet lady is here and she depends on our love and care. I’m praying for peace for your mother and ours. You are not alone in this, so many of us share the same. Hedy
