A healing weekend: I caught up on sleep, ate solid food, read 2 books, cuddled with my husband and dogs. I feel much better. We ventured out a bit. Sunday we drove to the bookstore and early Monday evening we took a short little drive around our neighborhood. The mountain ridge show in the above photo is the same one that we see from our front porch.
A well-known horse breeding farm is just down the road:
It was dinner time.
Are they not beautiful?
I could watch them for hours.
It felt good to get out of the house. I was going a little stir crazy.
Thank you for all your well wishes. You warm my heart! It is comforting, indeed, to know that many of you have gone through this and have had the surgery with no ill effects. I’m more and more inclined to have the surgery but I will make no decisions until I discuss it in more detail with my doctor. In the meantime, I’m being very careful about diet. I don’t want to go through another attack ever again.
Since I’ve now been home over two weeks and still have not tackled the overgrowth around here (which came about because husband didn’t mow certain areas of the property) you know what I’ll be doing this week. Oh joy.
Oh, and did I mention that I’ve not had coffee for 9 days?
No coffee in nine days? Oh my- considering my own caffeine addiction, I don’t know whether to feel sorry for you or congratulate you.
Glad you’re feeling better- as for the surgery, I haven’t had it myself, but friends who have reported that it wasn’t that bad, and it was much better than the fear hanging over their head that they might have another episode.
Take good care, Beth
Gorgeous scenery! That may have just been the best medicine, along with those family cuddles! Continued thoughts of healing heading your way!
Be careful Don’t over do it! You are just begining to feel better. That must have been very painful. Glad you are feeling stronger…have you given up coffee for good?
Blessings, Joanne
Hi Claudia ~ so glad you’re on the mend and hope you can avoid surgery. I just discovered black mango tea at Trader Joes, which you might enjoy as an alternate to coffee. And don’t over do it in the yard! (: hugs from California
I am so glad you feel better and went out for a drive. Be careful and don’t over do it in that pretty yard!

As if being ill is not bad enough, the no coffee thing is insult to injury. Sadly, I would be nursing a caffeine withdrawal headache if I ever had to go off the stuff.
Glad to hear you’re on the mend.
:-)
Claudia, I had my gall bladder out many years ago. I had been sick for years with those attacks and didn’t know what they were. I was treated for ulcers….wrong! Have the surgery you will not believe how good you will feel afterwards.
Your pictures are gorgeous as usual.
Hi Claudia,
Such beautiful country side…
I’m so sorry you were sick, I am just now catching up with you.
I was very ill too with my gall bladder and had the surgery. It was a very good thing I did since my gall stone was the size of a quarter. Pretty big the Doctor said.
I must tell you, even after the surgery there are still foods to stay away from, heavy fatty foods for one, since the gal bladder is like a filter and the filter has been removed the fatty foods will go right through you…(a quick run to the bathroom)
Not everyone is the same of course. Something to ask your doctor about. I’m glad I had the surgery no more terrible and painful attacks.
I do hope and pray you feel better,
Big hugs, Elizabeth
HI CLAUDIA,
YOU HAVE BEEN THROUGH SUCH AN ORDEAL MY FRIEND, I AM GLAD YOU ARE STARTING TO FEEL BETTER, BUT PLEASE TAKE IT EASY ESPECIALLY IN THE GARDEN, YOU CAN MAKE YOURSELF SICK WITH THIS HOT WEATHER, OR EVEN HURT YOUR BODY. BUY WEED KILLER, AT LEAST THAT’S A START….WELL, CLAUDIA YOU TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF AND GET BACK ON YOUR COUCH AND SNUGGLE WITH DON AND YOUR BABIES. YOUR PHOTOS ARE GORGEOUS, MY GRANDDAUGHTERS WILL LOVE THEM. RIZZI
Hi Claudia,
I’m glad to hear you’re feeling better and were able to get out of the house. I read below about your hospitalization… how scary for you and for Don too. Good luck with a different kind of diet and not having coffee. It is good how quickly we can change our eating/drinking habits when our health is at issue. Sending many positive thoughts your way.
Thank you for your comment about sweet Zeke. You know how much he means to us.
Take it easy, sweet one. The horses sure are beautiful, bet it was gentle therapy for your soul watching them with their air of greatness with one another.
xoxo~Tracie
Glad to see you’re feeling better Claudia. No coffee for 9 days, I don’t think I could stand it.
Glad you are feeling better, but you had better take it easy in the garden. I know you and once you get started youwill have a hard time taking a rest. Beautiful day you had with Don, it looks so beautiful in New York.
Love you,
Mere
No coffee… Well, are you having caffeine withdrawals? I had my gall bladder out in 2000. I remember I was scheduled for very early in the morning, due to my acid reflux and the fact I could take no medication or have food after midnight. Just my luck some fool managed to get shot and the surgeon had to deal with that. I laid in that damned bed nearly all day and thought the reflux was going to kill me. Most miserable part about the whole thing.
Brenda
So glad to see you were able to get out for a short drive. I bet it felt nice. Hang in there and take is slow. I will continue to keep you close to my thoughts and prayers.
So glad you are feeling better Claudia :)
Hi Claudia,
I am so glad you are feeling better. Watching the diet definitely helps but if your Dr. recommends surgery don’t put it off too long. Mine was removed with the laparoscope and I felt so much better afterwards. I was sick for years before I finally went to the Dr. I now have permanent damage to my pancreas. It’s not causing me any problems yet but it’s something I need to keep an eye on. Take care, friend.
After reading all of your comments, it is amazing how many have had gall bladder problems! I am so glad you are feeling better! Sounds like a horrible ordeal. Working in your garden is a wonderful diversion for you now….just don’t overdo it!~Hugs, Patti
I’m happy to know that cuddles and country drives have helped you feel much better. The mares and their foals are so sweet, but perhaps what you need are a few goats to “mow” your grass! Please don’t overdo the yard work Claudia.
Yes, discuss the options with your doctor. Many people seem to be enjoying better health following that surgery.
Take good care of yourself, you are special.
Hugs – Mary
