Monday Morning Catch Up

January 27, 2025 at 9:13 am by Claudia

A slightly cluttered corner of the den.

We finally went above freezing yesterday and I could hear the drip, drip, drip of snow on the roof all day long. The same goes for the next few days. So our lovely white snow will be melting. I’ll miss the sunlight bouncing off the white snow. The light streaming through our windows has been wonderful. There’s still snow on the ground today. I hope it sticks around a bit longer.

Don is sick and is feeling pretty miserable. He played that gig on Friday night and he was playing near the door to the street, which kept opening and closing while he was standing there – the temps were below zero at that point. The next morning, he felt miserable. It seems he caught a chill which blossomed into a big old cold. Bless his heart, he really doesn’t feel well at all.

The puzzle arrived. It’s a newish Laurence King puzzle – The World of Oscar Wilde. Wilde wrote what I consider the perfect play, and it’s one of my favorites: The Importance of Being Earnest. It looks like it will be fun. King’s puzzles are always beautifully designed.

Okay. I did another video tour – I had to take advantage of the winter light flowing into the the corner of the den where the girls live. It’s often a little dark there, which makes photography problematic. But the light that day was perfectl. It’s up on my YouTube channel, but you can watch it here.

My Blythe Doll Collection

I also named my channel. (Don’t worry, it will be a modest little channel.) The name? Claudia the Chronic Collector. Might as well get these collections on video while I still have them!

Hope you enjoy it.

Stay safe.

Happy Monday.

Loved the tour. Has anyone ever told you that you sound like Martha Stewart?

Short answer: no. Martha has a deep voice but there’s not a lot of warmth or nuance to it. I’m an actor and a teacher and I’m all about being expressive. Although, since this is a voice over, I was speaking very quietly, trying to time everything with the video. I usually use much more of my range.

      Thanks, Glenda.

Another cute video. The girls are so cute…and I love seeing their clothes and accessories. We have lots of frost around, very cold. I’m glad you’re warming up a bit. Hope Don feels better soon. Enjoy the new puzzle. Take care.

Loved your Blythe dolls video, Claudia. Such pretty names for such pretty girls. I marvelled at all the places around the world they immigrated from. Our snow is all gone and it is just 0 instead of minus something. Well, we are in the last week of January. How is that even possible? Can Spring be far behind? Hope Don feels better soon and you don’t catch it. Hugs, Elaine

Sorry your poor husband is under the weather. As we get older colds become so much worse! Our morning lows have finally climbed out of the 30’s, which must seem like a heat wave to you, lol. Have a great week. Take care.

I am on second week with this horrible head cold…..I am feeling better but not 100%. The best thing for Don is curl up and stay warm…..lots of tea and honey and ….soup…..hot steamy showers and much pampering from you Claudia. I hope you dodge the bullett. . I caught my husbands cold and we are both still under the weather.

We bundle up and get in the car and go to the Long Island sound and drink our coffee and cookies while watching the waves and gulls. No news, no music….just a change of view.

Take care. Hope he has a speedy recovery.

I would love nothing more than to be able to see the ocean! Don, especially, having been both and raised in San Diego, loves the ocean and the beach.

      Thanks, Maria.

I don’t think we’re as warm as you but a bit of a melt in the sunny spots. Your corner looks just so cozy. I’m amazed how bright it looks, even at night, with the reflective quality of the snow. I’m not sure what it’s reflecting at night but it seems to be something!

Your “slightly cluttered” looks like my “after a major cleaning and organizing”.

Hello Claudia; I wondered if you’ve heard from Kathy in Iowa. You mentioned her father had passed away. If you’re in contact with her please tell her she is in our thoughts and missed.
Hope Don feels much better soon and you stay welll!

Only briefly, Deanna. She mentioned her father’s funeral. I think she’s taking a break to mourn. If she contacts me, I will let her know.

      Stay safe, Deanna.

Hello again from Canada. Sorry to hear your Dear One is under the weather. Thanks for sharing your dolls with us. They make me smile. My favourites are Maeve and Madeleine.
We are enjoying sunshine and slightly warmer temperatures. I think we will hit 7 Celsius today. We live in the beautiful upper Fraser Valley of BC.
Take care and thanks again for sharing your pretty things.

    Hi,
I’m going to try to remember miss edith dolls, because they are canadian. One of my dolls is also from lucy dolls in ukraine. I think you’re a master of dressing your dolls. It gives me a few ideas.
Old cars are so hard to keep up, but a used car here is very expensive, so we’ll hang onto our honda. Mike loves hondas. i think the clutch is shot – i can’t get it into reverse very easily! oh, well, there’s always something.
    Prayers for Jan.

    Peace,
    Beaner (irene)

I am a Honda lover. I had a Civic hatchback, then a CR-V, and now the Accord. Don has a Honda Pilot.

      Stay safe, Irene.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
