Do you think Santa has had it?
Time to retire these two and move them upstairs to their off-season home.
We are so tired of ice everywhere. A warm-up is on the docket for today, but at the same time, we’re having the dreaded ‘mixed precipitation’ which has resulted in a winter weather advisory.
I AM OVER IT.
In the meantime, we have to go get a box and bubble wrap, etc. this morning because I have to let Country Living know the dimensions and weight so they can send me a UPS label. I need to get the box to UPS tomorrow. I briefly considered whether this was worth it. Sigh. I did wash all the cups yesterday, so they’re ready to pack.
At least I don’t have to be at a rehearsal or travel.
Here’s a photo of the miniature Tintin book that was in the tote bag that came with Madeleine. Isn’t it adorable? It’s 1:6 scale, so it would be too big for the dollhouse, but it’s perfect for my girls. (The title is in Spanish.)
I decided that Madeleine must be tired of her traveling clothes, so I put her in another dress.
It was her turn to walk Bertie. The girls take turns – it’s one of their chores.
There was a discussion in the comments the other day about the size/height of Blythe dolls. They are 11.8 inches tall. The head is about 3½ inches tall. There are also slight differences in the size of the bodies that are used. There is the neo Blythe body, which is the original, or close to the original size, there is the Licca body, and there is the Obitsu body. I have all three. I’ve noticed that the Licca body, which is the body that Olivia has, is a little shorter and the arms and legs are thinner, as well. Therefore, she always looks like the youngest sister because she’s a little smaller. I’m not sure about the Obitsu 11 body, which is the one that Pippa and Mei have – it might be a bit shorter. I’ll have to check. The Obitsu is the most flexible, the most posable. But it’s also the most fragile. The rest of the girls; Sophie, Maeve, Zoe, Imogen, and Madeleine have the standard Blythe body, sometimes called neo Blythe or Azone.
I’m fine with all of them. The only thing I want to change is the neck support on Sophie and Maeve. As it is now, the head can turn from side to side but it can’t be raised or lowered or tilted – all of which make for more interesting poses. I have to resort to shooting from below so it doesn’t look like they’re constantly looking down.
Probably way more information than you wanted or needed this morning!
Stay safe.
Happy Monday.

Thank you for the information on the girls. I think it is interesting that they have different body types. I had no idea. They certainly are very sweet! Have a great day!

Thanks so much, April.
Stay safe.

Who knew there were so many variations in Blythe dolls! No wonder they are such cute little individuals.
I love how the little differences make each girl have a different personality. It’s much more subtle than hair color or obvious physical characteristics. I came really close to adding another girlie to my collection this weekend. but failed. I had the strongest reaction the first time I saw her and have for years. I thought I’d compromise with a similar doll, but some research showed me that there are at least four small differences that make her HER. So, now I’m determined (to put it mildly) to find another. Doll fever!
I hope you and the egg cups all stay safe on your travels.
Claudia says
Oh that doll fever! It can make you crazy!
Stay safe, Roxie.

Hope the snow and ice leave you soon. My daughter finally got a flight out late Saturday night. She flies the really cheap airline that can cancel at the drop of a hat, but this way she gets to come every 4-6 weeks. It was cancelled this time because of the bad weather in Indy, so they had a good reason. She was delayed several times also…be careful out and about. Love the puzzles…you are amazing at doing them.
Jan says
I’m glad your daughter is home safely, but I imagine it was quite an adjustment to get off that plane. I’m in Indy, this is Monday, and I am still looking at lots of snow, and it’s very cold.
We have been very fortunate that this is the first snow event this year.
I just moved here from MI, and it takes at least 3 inches before I consider it a snowfall – needless to say the folks down here disagree with me!
I will say what I do love here is lots of sunshine even in winter.
Claudia says
We ran our errands and tomorrow I’ll drop the box off at our local UPS pickup.
Thanks, Brenda.
Stay safe.

I have a great granddaughter named Madeleine, and another Olivia who has thick curly hair just like your M. I am loving seeing all your girls, and their adorable clothes, and especially the tiny accessories. They are amazing, created by true artists!
I agree with you about winter. I am over it too! This is the first time I have felt this way, and I lived through MI winters for 50 years. I’m so ready for green and flowers!
You and Don stay safe.

January and February, so far, have been very stressful in terms of the weather. I am ready for it to be over!
I lived through many a Michigan winter, and Philadelphia and Boston as well. Maybe my tolerance is less than it was when I was younger. I suspect it is.
Stay safe, Jan!

Hope the ice melts today. Be very careful going out. It’s so easy to slip and fall on ice.
I knew that some of the Blythe dolls had a flexible neck joint but didn’t realize there were different body types.
I started a new jigsaw puzzle a couple weeks ago and I’m just not into it. I took it apart and put it away. I will get it out again someday. Right now I have other projects taking my time.
Take care
Claudia says
It’s melting but there’s a lot more melt that has to happen – it was a gray day with snow showers and fog.
Stay safe, Marilyn.

Are those Vintage by Crystal? I have my Valentine girls out right now. They make me smile. Very interesting about the different doll bodies. I can see why you’d want the other necks.
Good luck with getting out to get the packaging for the egg cups. This would probably be a lot more fun if your world wasn’t covered with ice!
Claudia says
Yes, Vintage by Crystal. I think I have a Valentine girl – I have to make sure I display her!
Thanks, Jeanie.
Stay safe.
