As I sit here this Friday morning, sipping my coffee, looking for new blog posts and finding very few, I thought I should step up to the plate and post something. I realize you are all busy. However, this is my morning ritual. I drink coffee and read and comment on blog posts. Today is no different than any other day for me – yesterday was – but not today. Can you see that I might be going through blog withdrawal? Not a pretty sight.
Oh lordy, did we eat yesterday! The day started off with my fabulous (if I do say so myself) French Toast. Don contributed Fakin’ Bacon – tastes like bacon but isn’t. Then dinner….you can see by the menu that the MHC household ate well. To be frank, we overate. I cannot resist mashed potatoes…or stuffing…or my Grandmother’s biscuit recipe. Or anything on that list, to be honest. You know we are vegetarians, hence the quotation marks around “Swedish Meatballs” – again, not really meat.
Don usually does the daily dinner cooking here because he likes to. I like to bake. It works out nicely. But yesterday was a special occasion and I made the mashed potatoes, green beans, biscuits and pumpkin pie. I also coordinated the timing on everything, a task made more difficult by two dogs who insist on being in the thick of things. And today? Leftovers. Umm-mmm good. We are grateful.
I was out and about the other day and found this sign:
It’s made of very thick cardboard. The gold letters in ‘Lady Duff’ are raised. I’m a sucker for this type of art deco lettering and I had to bring it on home to the studio. At the moment, the sign is living right next to Letitia – she is, after all, wearing undergarments.
I hope your Thanksgiving celebrations were filled with good food and good company, my friends.

Claudia, I love your picture at the top of this post!! You look beautiful! Yes, that is my ritual, coffee, e-mails and blogs! Love your new sign. Yes, My world is sad indeed if there is no one to greet me on my computer-ha! Hubby didn’t have chemo yesterday because of the holiday so we have to go this afternoon-bummer! But he will take it on as usual. Hugs to you, have a wonderful weekend! Keep that picture up, I love it!

I didn’t overeat until the pie was brought out. That did it, sugar! Oh my, pumpkin, banana cream, caramel apple and then coconut pineapple cake I made for going to our friend’s house for Thanksgiving.
Our granddaughter is a vegetarian and you wouldn’t believe how I fix dinner so she can eat without getting any meat/meat products on her plate. We’re meat eaters (very little meat) but I do like it in very small quantities.
But last time we were there I had to peel 10# of potatoes, mash them and freeze them for Mandy because she loves mine so very much. Next time I’m teaching her to do them so she can have them fresh whenever she wants them!
Sounds like your Thanksgiving was just perfect though.
xoxo,
Connie

Good Morning Claudia Sweetie…
What a beautiful share. I love seeing that chalk board of yours, one of the best things you created. It still captures my heart every time I see it. Love, love, love it.
Your menu sounds so yummy. For the first time in 35 years, DH and I went out for dinner. The kids each have new homes and wanted to have their own dinners, so they ate at their homes, and DH and I went out. Then we treated ourselves not to one movie, but 2. We just spent the afternoon at the movies. Had a wonderful time, just the two of us after all these years. We loved it.
Each some potatoes for me would you? With regulating my blood sugars, and trying to reduce the amount of insulin shots I have to take each day, I am cutting out carbs for now. So no bread, potatoes, stuffing or sweets for me this year. Did I miss it? Absolutely NOT. Still had a great meal.
So happy to see you post today sweetie. I love it when you do. Many hugs and much love, Sherry

It sounds like you had a delightful Thanksgiving. Mine was a bit unorthdox as I was At the beach (morroe Bay) and we had cold chicken on hawiian bread and chips, olives, assorted cheeses , chips, crunchy apples, and more. I am going to have a more traditional meal later when All my family can be there.

i overate ALL WEEK LONG. still am!!! can’t stop. love to eat….love this time of the year….the two = something scary for my expanding waist. yikes!!!
i’m with don…the fake bacon thing. i cook fake bacon and my family hates me for 10 minutes!! lol. i love it, but it is on the never cook again list. haha.
i was a vegetarian for almost a year several years ago and i remember going one thanksgiving w/o turkey and my husband almost leaving me over it (well, not really). he insisted that i went to KFC to buy some chicken for him!! hahaha. didn’t happen. needless to say, i love turkey and eat it now, so he doesn’t have to worry anymore. i would still totally come eat at your house!!!! enjoy the quiet and the coffee. i will get back to blogging soon.
take care.
