Morning Ritual

August 17, 2010 at 12:02 am by Claudia

This is my nephew-dog, Max. Every morning, starting anywhere from 8 to 8:30 am, he lies out by the pool.

He’s waiting. Waiting for a sound – a click – that means something terrible is coming. It comes at 9:05 every morning.

Oh no. He heard it.

He must attack that water. It must be stopped!

He bites at the water and barks repeatedly.

Then he runs to the other corner, does the same thing and runs around and around the pool and barks until the noise stops.

The threat is over for another day. Well done, Max.

I used the Random Number Generator and the winner of Rules of the Lake, Irene Ziegler’s book of short stories, is Tracie from My Petite Maison. Congratulations, Tracie! Send me an email with your address and I will get the book out to you next week when I am back home. Thanks to everyone who left a comment.

Max is adorable– so funny! It’s funny how these fur people have their rituals. Haggie has several, all very endearing (of course!). I have my rituals too– and some of our rituals coincide! Just part of the rythm of daily life, I guess.
    Hugs,
    Jill

What a cutie! Dogs are such creatures of habit. It’s interesting how they have an internal alarm clock for things. I hope you are enjoying your time with your family!

LOVE it! I’m so glad you’re getting some doggie love while being away from Scout and Riley. We had a dog named Max growing up. I’ll bet everyone has had a dog named Max at one time or another. It’s just the perfect name for a dog, and your nephew-dog, Max, is just SO adorable!… Donna

That is the cutest thing! Does he need Caesar the dog whisperer?? I myself, would learn to love that! Sorry I have not been by. I am having health issues once again. Getting closer to the answer though.

I love Max! He is a great companion, I can tell. And what a great name….short for “Maxson” maybe??? :-) Thanks for the laugh – those 4-legged kids are the best – never talk back and never ask for money!

You can’t tell me a dog can’t tell time! I was just reading in Time magazine how animals have much higher-functioning brains than previously thought.

    Aunt Claudie,

Thanks for including me in your blog. All your readers really have no idea how seriously cute I am. I protect you from the pool, but I also give tons of hugs, you forgot to mention that! I love you so much and I think you need to live with me.

Ha! I LOVED this post. How adorable is your nephew! Dogs never cease to entertain us do they? I have lots of nephew dogs and I even have a brother dog! I call my mom’s little dog my brother. Makes sense since he is “her son.” Hope you’re having a great week.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
