Moving Things Around

January 6, 2022 at 10:27 am by Claudia

It’s sunny today! I don’t think it will last, but I’m happy to see it. We’re supposed to get some snow overnight – maybe an inch or two. Since it will be our first real snowfall, we’re looking forward to it. That will change come February, of course.

I moved some things around yesterday because trying to display the girls and my turquoise/aqua McCoy 0n the same small surface had become problematic. As you well know, display space of any kind is limited here and it’s all in use.

But then, I came up with this idea:

Since it was late in the day and darkish when I put them there, I wasn’t sure it was such a good idea. But this morning, I think it’s perfect. It adds some color to this area of wood floor and wooden pew. And nestled under the pew, they’re safe.

The girls are now displayed here:

I grabbed an old sewing machine drawer and placed it on its side to make a platform. This also provides a bit more space for another girl. Ahem.

I asked Don to come look at both this and the McCoy under the pew and he enthusiastically gave it all a thumbs up. Then he stared at the girls and said “They’re works of art.” He especially likes Pip.

How thankful I am that he gets it.

Thank you for all your supportive comments about the girls. It’s good to know that you enjoy seeing them.

In that vein, here’s Imogen in another outfit from LenaLittleDress that arrived while I was away in NYC.

With the yellow shoes!

She looks rather pleased with the ensemble.

Stay safe.

Happy Thursday.

I like the pottery under the bench. And your girls look perfect where they are.
No sun here…just snow and wind. I think we’ve gotten about 9 inches so far and it is supposed to continue until tomorrow. I think it’s time to start a jugsaw puzzle.
    Take care

Between the shoes, the dress, the tiny hands, the little face I can’t stop looking at her. I agree with Don…works of art!

I love the McCoy under the bench. It does add color and another place for the eye to settle. Love the girls and they are charming and so unique. Don is correct, little works of art. Hugs!

I just read your post from yesterday. You writing about clothes is exactly how I am! I use to love clothes shopping, but now I hate it! I am all about comfort now. The girls just get cuter and cuter! Hope the sun comes out for you. Stay safe and warm!

We’re trying. Our heating oil company dropped the ball and we aren’t getting our delivery tomorrow.

      Stay safe, Deb.

I’m glad the girls are going to stay on this blog rather than a separate one. They are beautiful and their clothes are impressive!

Do you have to move the pottery whenever you dust the floor? That would bug me. Maybe your floor doesn’t get as dusty as mine! :) Could the dolls sit on the bench? That might look cute.
It is nice to move things around after taking down the Christmas stuff.

I don’t want the dolls on the bench. I like them in the den where I can see them.

      Thanks, Ellen.

It had to be so much fun to come home to new clothes for the girls! My tree is down today through no desire of my own. I walked by it, brushed it and it started to tip! I shoved a chair “under” it to break the fall and started undecorating super-speed. I was going to leave it till the weekend, but it will be nice to reclaim the space. Once I move an end table back to its original spot (where the tree was), I can turn the dining table and be able to set up a puzzle space. Once I get started with the big one, the rest just falls into place.

I love the pottery bringing color to the bench area, but putting the girls there would, too, and you could better display the pottery. In my house, if it was in a spot like that, it would never get seen — and it would get seriously dusty and dirty. Your layout may be way different and you can be back far enough from it that you get the whole picture. By the way, I love your cow!

as someone who loves home, interior design and puttering, i always enjoy seeing other people’s homes, both big views and the details. also “before and after” changes made for any reason (new items, boredom, seasonal changes, whatever). thanks very much for sharing your home, changes too, claudia. it all looks so cozy and welcoming. glad you are there, especially with the snow falling. enjoy!

very cold here. will do the grocery shopping after work, then take a shower and do some puttering of my own. i received many books for Christmas and need to find the right place for them. what i’d like is a big old bookcase, but there’s no room for one (and my nightstand is full) so will do some rearranging tonight. all good.

hope you stay warm and have a good day!

I love your dolls. And their clothes. And their menagerie of pets!

It feels good to clean and rearrange things. I like the fresh point of view I get from a little change–I notice and appreciate things so much more.

Just finished listening to Patty Smith singing People Have The Power. Exactly what I needed today!

    Be safe and warm!

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
