My Misadventures

December 22, 2009 at 5:41 pm by Claudia

Presents bought? Check. I dragged myself out again today and bought the last present on my list (which is rather a short one compared to most everyone’s, I bet.) I have to wrap everything, including the presents sent to us from my Mom and Dad. Mom leaves the wrapping to me. I am so grateful to be done – now I can stay home, stay warm and, hopefully, get rid of this bug.

Last night, after another endless bout of coughing, I decided it would be smart to come downstairs so as not to keep Don awake. It was about 4:00 AM. I gingerly tiptoed down the stairs in the darkness – feeling my way all the way down. As I came down the last two stairs into the den, I rammed my left shin right into the coffee table (which used to be the dollhouse table and was not in the middle of the room.) I bit my lip to keep from loudly cursing…but boy, did that hurt! After turning the light on, I saw I was also bleeding from my right toe. I have to laugh at the whole thing in the light of day – because it really is rather comical. After all the drama, I finally did go back to sleep on the sofa in the den. Don came downstairs later and said he’d been coughing all night. We are quite a pair.

I took this photo the other evening. I was in my flannel pajamas, having just let the dogs in from outside. The sky was so beautiful I had to grab my camera. Sunsets are so wondrous, especially since their beauty is so fleeting. One blink of the eye and the colors change. Another blink and it is gone. Enjoy your evening, dear friends; drink some hot chocolate, watch a sunset and listen to some Christmas music. I think we’ll watch a Christmas movie tonight…maybe The Shop Around the Corner. Tomorrow: Its a Wonderful Life. Christmas Eve: A Christmas Carol, with Alastair Sim.

Hi Claudia, glad you’re not knee deep in snow, but sorry that you two are still feeling yucky. No one wants a bug at Christmas! I feel the same as you about snow. I love to be all safe and warm at home, but my husband still has to get out and try to make it to work. There is no end to the complaints. Take care and rest if you can. Hope you have a wonerful Christmas!
    hugs and blessings,
    Debra

What a beautiful photo, Claudia. Reminds me of a scene in Gone With the Wind, I think in the opening credits.

I hope you both are feeling better soon.

    Merry Christmas!

That is one phenomenal photo! Frame that one. I’m sorry about the injury in the dark. Precisely why I switched my coffee table out for the red bench.

Oooooouch, sugar! I jammed my toe on an ottoman once while vacuuming and dislocated my little toe. I had to call my friend to have her hubby come up and jerk it back into place as MY hubby was about an hour away. It hurt!!!
    Merry Christmas,
    Connie

You have to watch out for that furniture, it can be dangerous, sneak up and bite cha! I do hope you and your husband feel better before Christmas gets here. Having a bad cough is no fun. Have fun with your movie marathon!

    Hi, Claudia,
I love that white cabinet. It is decorated so sweetly too. I had not seen your dogs before. They are beautiful. I am sorry you and hubby have been ill. I hope you both are much better by Christmas. I still have to wrap presents, too. It seems like I put this chore off until the very end every year. Watching movies and hot chocolate sound wonderful!! The sunset is gorgeous. Thank you for sharing it with us. Have a blessed holiday season, dear friend! Vicki

    Hello sweetie…
So glad to hear that your shin and toe are okay, so sorry to hear you are still coughing and dear husband is coughing too. Not good.

Aren’t you the lucky one to be done? I still have a few things to buy, and then maybe I will be done.
Stocking stuffers still to get done also. Part of the family will be here celebrating on Christmas Eve and the other part on Christmas Day. I just can’t seem to get everyone together at one time. One of them have to work Christmas Day so they will be coming the night before, and the other 2 will be at their in-laws house celebrating with them.

I am still searching for Miracle on 34th Street. I haven’t been able to find it in the stores this year. I found Christmas Story and that I wanted also.

Have a beautiful Christmas and I will be talking to you soon.

Country hugs and much love sweetie…Sherry

Claudia ~ Bless your heart! Those middle of the night in the dark “excursions” never lead to good things! Well, maybe a good laugh later. Hope you and Hubby feel much better and have a very Merry Christmas.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
