Off to the City

October 11, 2022 at 8:00 am by Claudia

Intrepid explorers in our woods.

Just a quick post today (in fact, I’m writing it on Monday evening) as I’m off to the city. I’m going to take notes at the dress rehearsal this afternoon. This is better in the end because Don may try taking pictures at the Farmer’s Market on Sunday if his hand is feeling up to it. He wouldn’t be able to do it if we went into the city.

But mostly, it’s much better for the actors if I go in today and that’s why I pushed for it. It’s already been over a week since I’ve seen/heard them and they deserve to get some updates from me before they start the run of the show.

By the way, some of you picked up on this in the comments the other day; I was exposed to Covid at the rehearsal I attended. Of course, everyone is tested routinely, but sometimes it slips in there. There was a bit of time during the rehearsal when I didn’t have a mask on and I was around and talking to the person who tested positive. Anyway, I waited 5 days and tested myself and I was negative. As was everyone else involved in the show.

I realize I’m preaching to the choir here, but Covid is still out there. I got a little casual about wearing a mask and I won’t do that again. Thankfully, all is well. But mask up, my friends. This is far from over. I’m sick of it, we’re all sick of it, nevertheless, stay safe. I’m often the only person in a store with a mask on – but who cares?

We want to get our boosters, but I decided to hold off until 10 days had passed, so we’ll get our shots toward the end of the week.

I’ll have to test myself this morning before I go – it’s a requirement. Fingers crossed!

Stay safe.

Happy Tuesday.

Yikes! That is scary about your Covid exposure and yes it is out there. I was at a store the other day and a man was coughing up a storm and not covering his mouth. I heard him ask at the pharmacy “Where the Covid tests were.”

Have a safe and fruitful trip to the city.

i am sorry you had that exposure/worry and need to test. glad the first result was negative. will pray today’s test is the same and that your travels and work are safe in every way.

i agree with you about covid and appreciate your talking about it. unfortunately covid is not over. it’s not gone and (per experts i’ve read) won’t ever leave completely … so i continue to wear a mask when in stores and limit where i go. and i will get the third booster, but first need to get a flu shot. heard several times on the news that this flu season is to be an especially rough one, in part because so many people aren’t wearing masks. stay safe and well, everyone!

hope everyone has a good, easy day.

Well, I always have a mask on, so I suspect the flu won’t be an issue. I’ll get a shot, nevertheless.

      Stay safe, Kathy.

I still mask in the store. I got my booster last week – left arm booster, right arm flu shot. No bad reactions just a little bit of sore arms…
Stay safe and have a good trip!

We continue to wear our masks when we’re out and about and sanitize our hands after each store visit. I think Covid will be like the flu, we’ll need a yearly shot. Hope your visit to NYC goes well.

Your little “explorers” are darling. Love their cute outfits especially those blue Mary Janes.

    Stay Covid safe. Hugs, Elaine

I am right there with you. I am still wearing my mask in stores, etc. Bill is still getting a little more lax about it so I keep reminding him. Today is the start of us holding a ceremony for my in-laws. We are headed to San Diego ( I’ll think of you Claudia). They have been cremated and will be buried in the VA cemetery there. Even though they retired and lived in Phoenix, they always wanted to live in San Diego, a city we all love. My father-in-law was in the Navy. They both can be buried together. It is a beautiful place to be buried. The actual service will be on Friday. I have 2 nephews coming in from back east. It will be nice to see them. The service will be short since they do not have many friends still alive. They were both 95, a long, blessed life.
So I will start doing some packing today. The weather has been absolutely beautiful. Cool enough so we can get out in our garage and going through all the “stuff” we got out of a storage shed that was my in-laws…..and I mean a LOT of stuff! Not looking forward to that chore. Claudia, have a nice trip to the city. Love the girls shoes! Take care!

Glad to hear you tested negative after the exposure to Covid, and sincerely hope you & Don remain safe & healthy. Unfortunately, Covid remains among us.
I continue to mask when shopping and have noted most store staff/employees continue masking. I also wear a mask when in the library, and the library staff do also.
Received the variant booster last week. No major reaction — did seem a bit more tired than usual in the evening and my arm was slightly tender for about 48 hours. Will get a flu shot in November.

Hope your trip into the city was uneventful and the dress rehearsal went well.
    Loving this crisp Fall weather!

    Stay safe & well.

Yes, I’ve also noticed that most store employees wear masks.

We’re going to book our booster shots today.

      Stay safe, Amy.

Yes, we are all acting as though Covid is over, when people are still getting very sick and dying…

I kept having those feelings after I was exposed, too — daily testing for days and grateful I was lucky but a good reminder. I’m sick of the masks, too, but I’d rather be sick of masks and wear one than sick with Covid. I will be getting my bivalent in another week — have to wait for a period of a few weeks after my prednisone does is completed. I wish I could get it tomorrow.

I hope everything went well with the dress rehearsal yesterday. I’ll be looking for the reviews soon!

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
