Oh, For Some Sleep

July 7, 2012 at 9:57 am by Claudia

It’s 9:30 in the morning and I sit here, barely awake. I had to drive to Connecticut to pick Don up yesterday and we both thought the best way to handle all the hours away from Riley would be to make the trip in the late evening and early morning hours when he’s asleep. So, still sleep deprived, I headed out around 8:30, arrived at 11:30 and with a quick stop for something to eat, we arrived home at close to 3 am. I slept for about an hour on the way home, but the cumulative effect of my lack of sleep has really knocked me for a loop.
Riley’s exhausted today – he had a restless night. Yesterday, in the middle of the afternoon, he got up by himself. I couldn’t believe my eyes. He walked around a lot and even tried eating his dinner in a standing position. He can’t maintain that for very long, but bless his heart, he gave it a try.
Oh, for some sleep.
We’re home safe and sound and the dogs are sleeping and it’s supposed to be 96 degrees today.
Happy Saturday.

I feel your sleep deprived pain. The day I drove back from N.C. I did not get to sleep until 3:30 in the morning due to the driving and caffeine I consumed to keep me awake on the drive. I was wiped out yesterday but feel better today. Love you,
    Mere

Dear Claudia and Don, I am so sorry for the agony you are feeling right now! This is such a difficult time. We always know in our heart that when we get a beloved pet we will out live him but it is so hard to think about. Each day we have a pet we fall more in love and when they are sick or missing our life becomes so sad.

Please know that all of us here at Ladybug Cottage are keeping you in our prayers.

Oh Claudia, my heart just breaks for you over this. We are going thru the same thing with one of our dogs. One day she’s really bad and then the next she is walking around. I am on an emotion roller coaster with her because I hope against hope that she will be “alright.” I want to cry. Hugs.

You are such good doggie parents. I hope that is a sign that Riley may be gaining strength. It is so hard to have aging parents and agine puppies.
Did you know that your blog disappeared a little while today. Glad it is back up and running.
I can’t go without sleep either. I hope you can rest up. Is your cottage air conditioned.
I hope things went well for your hubby.

Wow, that’s a long round trip drive, isn’t it! Hopefully you and Don can take turns getting some rest this weekend. Sweet, sweet, Riley. What a good boy.

I thought of you and Don yesterday. P.S. I Love You was on last night and of course I had to watch it while doing Etsy listings! haha

Your patio looks lovely. I can’t get over the huge burst of color from the impatiens! Amazing. Have a beautiful Sunday, Claudia… Donna

Your patio looks so cozy. I love your chairs. They seem very comfortable. Keeping you in my prayers. Try to take cat naps now and then. It’s a good thing you have the comfort of air conditioning. Although, there’s nothing like a nice breeze when it’s available! Here in Ottawa, it was more bearable today. Yesterday was not good for doing anything which is what I did. Nothing! But today, I got a lot of work done around the house. I used Casey’s method of “consciousness”. My goodness, Claudia, I can’t remember what it’s called now. But, you know what I mean. Anyways, the method served me well. I got a lot done. Take care!

Claudia, it’s the “stream of consciousness” method. I just had to come back and clarify it.

That heat must be quite miserable for you all. Exhausting, especially if you were tired already. It’s 22C/72F here just now and I’m already uncomfortably warm. I hope it gets cooler there soon.

He’s a tough old boy that Riley, bless his paws. Give him a healing hug from me and the whippety boys send gentle woofs x

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
