Well, I made it through 2 out of 3 movies last night – The Bishop’s Wife and Christmas in Connecticut. I succumbed to my need for sleep and didn’t see The Shop Around the Corner – but we own a copy, so I can watch it any old time I want to. There’s even more yet to see – White Christmas, Miracle on 34th Street, A Christmas Story and A Christmas Carol (the one with Alastair Sim as Scrooge – the best, in my opinion.) And, of course, It’s a Wonderful Life. I consider all of these to be essential viewing for my particular Christmas season.
I managed to find our Christmas records (actually, CDs) yesterday. Since we keep them in a closet in the den, a dimly lit one at that, this requires a flashlight and my reading glasses. Maybe even a magnifying glass. But found they were.
Today I’m planning to:
:: Start reading this mystery by Rashad Harrison. I will be reviewing it in early January.
:: Play Mah Jongg on my iPhone. I bought a hard case for it yesterday. I’ve already dropped it once in this house and I know I can be clumsy and distracted at times. The front and back of an iPhone are made of glass. Dropping it on pavement or cement equals a recipe for disaster. You’ll notice I’ve chosen a case in my favorite color.
:: Start crocheting one of the Obsession Scarves. My wonderful sister sent me some yarn the other day, thinking I might want to crochet some scarves for my Etsy Shop. I can’t wait to get started.
In the same box with the yarn were these adorable yarn ornaments. Aren’t they cute? They make me smile.
So, to wrap up my incredibly complex list of things to do today: Crochet, read, eat, make my bed, maybe throw in a load of laundry, perhaps dry the laundry, swiffer, vacuum, eat, read, crochet, play a game or two of Mah Jongg. Watch Bringing Up Baby and The Philadelphia Story on TCM. And eat again. Then read in bed.
Over and out.
I watched The Bishop’s Wife last night and made it through half of Christmas In Connecticut! We must have both been watching TCM! I fell asleep before finishing the 2nd one, but you recommended it to me and I hope I catch it again!
Love your little crocheted snowmen! Darling! Have a wonderful weekend, Claudia!
XO,
Jane
Sounds like a perfect day to me! Enjoy!!
LOVE those yarn snowmen!!!
xx
Love the obsession scarves! Wish knitting or crochet was one of my talents, but alas …
Claudia, Your day sounds perfect:):) I watched some of those movie last night. Today we watch a video of the Scrooge you mentioned. Smiles, Susie
Claudia, it sounds like a fun day to me. We seem to have the same taste in Christmas movies. Last night, I could not sleep so I got up and watched a taped version of A Boy’s Christmas in Wales. Ever heard of that one? I watch it every year. After that, I still could not sleep. Around 5, I got up and had breakfast and then I lied down on the couch where I tossed and turned. Finally I fell asleep around seven and woke up at 11:30. I’m so exhausted today. So, I won’t be doing much, just things that I like to do to humour myself, you know! I know that at some point, I will be having a small bowl of potato chips along with a cup of Tetley tea, my comfort food when I need comforting. LOL! By the way, those little snowmen are so cute and I noticed that the wool your sister sent you has your favourite colour in it. Happy knitting and crocheting to you!
I don`t know where you are in your list by now, dear Claudia,-but I know reading in bed after a long day, is WONDERFUL :)
Hugs,Dorthe
The yarn your sister sent is beauitful. I’ll have to ck out the pattern for that scarf. Your day sounds delightful, my kind of day. I’m off now to do some watercolors for gifts, my fun thing to do today! Happy Holidays, Annette T

…And talk to Brenda on the phone for hours. Which probably means you didn’t get it all done!
Brenda
sounds perfect to me!
I caught the end of The Bishop’s Wife last night and started on Christmas in CT but had to go to bed, I was falling asleep in the chair:)
Enjoy your handwork!

It sounds like you had a full but wonderful day. You listed so many terrific movies. It sounds like you need an extra week until Christmas to get them all in!
Claudia
Yep, those are all my kind of movies too. I would just add “Holiday Inn’ with Bing Crosby and Fred Astiare.
I’m very jealous of all the time your having for lazing!! I really
got in too deep this Christmas and am swamped. It taking its toll!
Blessing-Kimberly
Hi, Claudia
I thought of you last night when I fired up “Christmas In Connecticut” on a free classic movie website. I love old movies!
-Karen
I have never seen or heard of the Bishops Wife until this season when I read about it on blogs. So I must make sure I catch it on tv and see what everyone loves about this movie. We will be decorating our tree today, the longest I have ever waited to have a tree. I love the lights of the tree and have missed having them up so far, settling for the lit wreath and candles in the windows. Have a nice Sunday Claudia!
Sounds like the perfect day to me. Enjoy.

Love this list of things to do. I’m going to make my own list. After all, one needs to clean before Christmas Right Before Christmas, it’s too early now, right? So . . . to read a Christmas mystery, sew something fun maybe, extra sleep in newly changed sheets, watch the Nutcracker, take Marley for a slow meandering walk.
The Bishops Wife is one of my favorites too! I also watch “Meet Me In St Louis” every holiday season. Alistair Sims version of “The Christmas Carol” is my choice for the best version too!~Hugs, Patti
