A Bunny and an Anniversary

October 12, 2009 at 7:55 am by Claudia

Look who I saw outside the kitchen window. Soon after this photo was taken, he took off and I could see his little cotton tail disappearing into the woods. I hadn’t seen one in a long while, so I was delighted when this little guy showed up for a brief moment. I am nuts about bunny rabbits!

Today is our wedding anniversary – 11 years. We did indeed get married on Columbus Day as it was my husband’s day off from the theater. Last year was a big celebration. This year we will spend the day raking leaves, putting our window air conditioners into storage and cleaning. My sister arrives on Thursday for 4 days. The office/music studio/guest room has to become a guest bedroom and less of a music studio.

I hope you are enjoying your holiday. Happy Anniversary, Don!

Pink Saturday

October 10, 2009 at 12:07 am by Claudia

Happy Pink Saturday! Please stop by Beverly’s blog to see a list of everyone participating.

This week I am sharing 2 quilts with you. One is vintage – found at an auction – and the other is one of the first quilts I made.

This is a section of the quilt I made. It is hanging on the wall and I didn’t want to take it down! I used 30’s reproduction fabrics. The solid color is mint green; there are a lot of different pinks in this quilt. I love 30’s fabrics. I pieced and hand quilted this quilt about 10 years ago.

This vintage quilt is very sweet. I love the old fabrics. It is worn and stained in some places. I bought it at an auction and have it folded in a basket that is in our upstairs hallway. I have another pink quilt that was made for me by my Grandmother that I will share another time.

Our Elsie May rose bush always has one last bloom period in September and October. Hello, sweet rose! See you again next spring!

Some of you may remember a vintage hatbox that I shared with you on one Pink Saturday. In that post, I mentioned a hat that I bought at the same time and some of you expressed interest in seeing the hat. If you scroll down one post, you’ll see the hat.

Have a wonderful Saturday!

Vintage Black Friday

October 9, 2009 at 9:18 am by Claudia

It is Vintage Black Friday again!

This sweet hat is one of my favorite things – though I have it packed away in a hatbox most of the time. The hat itself isn’t vintage – though it is hand-made and one-of-a-kind. I found it 11 years ago in Great Barrington, Massachusetts. I loved it so much that I bought a vintage hatbox to take it home in on the plane. I wrote about it here.

The beautiful black lace is vintage. Isn’t it lovely? (The millinery flowers are vintage as well and the gorgeous deep purple ribbon is from France.)

The brim of the hat is beaded. I love that little detail.
Please visit Jill at Gypsy Brocante to see more!

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
