Reminder

February 20, 2009 at 12:32 pm by Claudia

Just a reminder about the Giveaway! I’ve decided to extend the deadline to Saturday at Midnight (California time) for those of you who don’t have a chance to catch up on blogs until the weekend.

Life here has been busy…lots of rehearsals to attend and classes to teach. I am going to try to get up to the Barn Sale at La Maison Rustique in Temecula. It runs today and tomorrow. However, it may be more than I can fit in my schedule. I am also trying to fight off some dreaded bug, which takes a lot of energy! I hope you have a wonderful weekend. I will post the winner of the drawing on Sunday.

My 1st Blog Anniversary and a Giveaway!

February 17, 2009 at 12:38 pm by Claudia

Happy February 17th to you all. One year ago today I shoved all my trepidation aside and started this blog. Like many who start blogs, I spent a lot of time lurking on other blogs before I finally felt I had to start my own. I wondered what I would possibly have to talk about that would be remotely interesting to anyone out there in blogland. My husband, gem that he is, strongly encouraged me to go ahead and do it. I’m so glad I did.

Blogging has opened a door to a new world for me. I am continually impressed by all those I meet in blogland ~ by your warmth, generosity, kindness, humor and creative spirit. I am amazed at the creativity I see out there! I have been allowed to peek through the windows of your ‘homes’ and am delighted by what I see. Thank you for sharing your lives with me, the joys and the sorrows. Thank you for all of your wonderful, supportive comments ~ they make my day!

I am still shy about my blog. Yes, I know I am in theater, but the fact remains that I am basically a shy person. It took me several months to tell anyone but my husband about the blog. Gradually I told my sister, my parents and a few of my friends. I know I don’t have a huge following, like many blogs I read, but I do seem to have some loyal followers. For that I am grateful.

I’ve found a few things in my trips to my favorite shops that I have assembled for a giveaway!
I find them charming, and I hope you do, too.

This pretty magnet is by PaPaYa designs: Victorian Bird by Anahata Joy Katkin.

I found this lovely hand crocheted pot holder in one of my favorite shops. The color is actually closer to the rose in the first photo.

This soap smells so wonderful! It is a shea butter soap, made in France, and smells like, you guessed it ~ the ocean. Heavenly.

A lovely vintage valentine I found at Vignettes.

A sweet little frame from another of my favorite shops.

And a lovely brown transferware plate – from Vignettes.

Just leave a comment anytime between now and Friday at midnight (California time) and I will put all your comments in a hat and pick one. If you don’t have a blog, be sure to leave your email address so that I may reach you if you are the winner.

More later.

Valentine’s Day Party at Vignettes

February 15, 2009 at 2:15 pm by Claudia

In between running errands and attending a rehearsal, I stopped by Vignettes for their Valentine’s Day party. Vignette’s is a fabulous store in Ocean Beach that I have been going to for several years. In the years since we left San Diego, Vignettes has expanded and is more wonderful than ever. Very Shabby Chic, with a strong French influence – it is a feast for the eyes. I thought I’d share some photos with you of the wonderful displays. This sign was over the doorway as I entered the store.

This display that was just inside the front door.

The beauty that was all over the store.

We were treated to decadent munchies that were displayed inside this dress.

The hosts were gracious, the store was packed, I met a fellow blogger, ate scrumptious treats, and then I dashed off to rehearsal. I was so far from my loved ones on Valentine’s Day and the fun and fellowship at Vignettes sure helped brighten my day.

No, the Skype didn’t work. We have a few things to iron out. I finally got my end to work, so Don saw me, but I didn’t see him. My sweet husband had signs made up and the dogs ready to go for our Valentine’s Day get together. We will just have to try it later this week.

More later.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
