Part 7: Egg Cups

March 24, 2023 at 8:36 am by Claudia

The peepers are back! A sure sign of spring. When I was climbing the stairs last night, I heard them through the window. Don joined me. Hearing them again was joyful. And our bullfrog is back – he joins in, as well.

Today’s egg cups:

•  A lovely little Scottie dog egg cup that I found many years ago. I’m pretty sure it was on eBay. I love this cup and I rarely see it elsewhere.

•  A little girl made of wood with a wool cap (egg warmer.) The name “Maria” is on the base. Made by Sevi, an Italian company. Probably from the 50s. She was a gift from Tina Marie, who is a reader of this blog.

•  A wooden sailor egg cup that Don and Scoutie gave me for my birthday one year. These were sold at Woolworth’s and made in Japan. It’s missing its white felt sailor cap, which served as an egg warmer.

It’s a dark morning, so this isn’t the best photo!

I think I need more of these little wooden children.

What else? I’m working every day on my dialect research. Monday is the first rehearsal so I’ll be headed into the city.

Sorry for the brevity, but I have a lot of things to do!

Stay safe.

Happy Friday.

peepers, a bullfrog, more cute egg cups, work … glad for you!

and continuing to pray for you all and those you love.

sunny and feeling like spring here … but the report is that streets are getting brined for ice-y snow later today or tomorrow. ugh … doesn’t look possible and i am not interested in snow at this time of year!

been puttering this morning while i wait for calls to be returned about several things … some not fun (insurance, taxes), but one might be. because i haven’t found one that i like in any antique or new-furniture store, i am considering having someone build a much-needed bookcase for me. not a built-in, but something i could move around and take with me. on the plus side, it would remove several stacks of books off the floor, look and feel better. the downside would be losing a dresser, not having a convenient place for the things now held in its three drawers. not the worst problem to have, and it’s not really a problem. just a wish or a goal. hence the puttering … i get something else done along with time to think about these things. :)

happy friday to everyone. stay safe!

Oh, a bookcase would be so helpful, wouldn’t it?

I hope puttering helps make it work, Kathy.

      Stay safe.

Three more cute little egg cups. I miss Woolworths and Kresge stores. There were both within walking distance of our house when we were growing up and quite close to our library. I loved their lunch counter – egg salad sandwich on white bread served with a dill pickle and potato chips with a vanilla milkshake. Heaven! Don’t work too hard, Claudia. Good luck on Monday. Stay safe. Hugs, Elaine

Oh, I miss them, too! We had both of them in my town and I loved, loved, loved spending time there. Why do all the good stores disappear?

      Thanks so much, Elaine.

      Stay safe.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
