Pastel, Weird Hair, and Upcoming Egg Cups

March 4, 2024 at 8:31 am by Claudia

I sometimes take part in a thing called Flat Lay Sunday, run by my friend Tania. Yesterday’s theme was Pastel. I only do it if I can come up with something quickly. In this case, I could. I went upstairs to the office and pulled 4 things I had on display, along with this quilt. And of course, Mabel, with the pastel pink hair. (She had been wearing red, so an outfit change was required.) And there you go!

Th quilt was one of the first I made and it remains a favorite.

We walked yesterday and we’ll probably walk again today as we have three days in a row of rain starting on Tuesday. But yesterday was glorious! Sunny, temperature in the sixties – everyone was out and about. It was truly lovely.

Don’s gigs went very well, especially the one on Saturday night. It was a new venue for him and it was packed with young people who were very appreciative. He fed off that energy and was pumped when he got home.

Speaking of Don, yesterday he came into the den and I started laughing because this is what I saw:

He’d been running his hands through his hair again and had no idea what he’d created.

Don Einstein? Don stuck his finger in a light socket?

I swear, it’s never the same way twice!

I have to wrap and pack an Etsy order this morning and get it to the post office, but that’s the extent of my errands for today.

I realized yesterday that Easter is on March 31st, so I suppose it’s time for a tour of the egg cups? Hurrah!

Stay safe.

Happy Monday.

Don looks like he’s ready to audition for Back to the Future! It’s a unique look — kind of cool, actually. He should try it in public and see how it goes! Glad the gig went well.

Mable looks a little uncertain — what’s going on here?! I love that quilt — I can see why it’s one of your favorites.

    Have a great week!

It would never stay that way!

Mabel always looks slightly pissed off!

      Stay safe, Jeanie.

Goodness, what a beautiful quilt you made. With all of those lovely tiny squares, it must have taken you a while to complete. It’s a treasure, Claudia!
You and Don have so much fun together! :)

I second the name, Don Einstein! I’m glad he had a good gig…must have been uplifting! That’s an interesting idea of the Flat Lay Sunday. Very creative. That quilt is gorgeous, love the colors and the pattern. Enjoy the sun!

Oh my! Loved seeing that I’m not the only one with “creative hair”. Glad that Don’s gig went well and that he’s enjoying performing. Your quilt is so springy with those adorable squares. Have a great day!

what a good sport your don is! and what a great head of hair he has! you both are blessed (i know you know that) and i am happy for you two.

glad that his gigs went well (i am not surprised) and that he came home happy about them.

    the quilt is beautiful, claudia.

glad you’ve been enjoying pretty weather. and had another etsy sale.

yes to a tour of egg cups, please and thanks. always fun to see them.

here? a teeny bit of rain overnight. am not sure about the fabric i ordered as a pillowcase for my grandparents’/parents’ wicker settee. need to see it in better daylight to be sure. ordered presents for my sister and both orders came with mistakes (two books ordered and received … one i ordered, the other was not what i paid for). same with some pottery. the right things are said to be on their way. ordered a certified copy of my birth certificate so i can get one of those “star” driver’s licenses in case i ever get on an airplane again or want to travel outside this country (no plans for either at present … just trying to plan ahead). morning tasks done so on to more knitting; will stop when i run out of yarn, which should be in three or four hats, then no more knitting until it gets cold this fall. am on page 1,020 of “war and peace” (this edition has 1,354 pages) so it won’t be long until i pick up something else. time will be spent with family. finally received some professional copies of photos of my grandparents, made enough for my family and all my cousins and am glad for that, too.

hope you, don and everyone else have a great day. stay safe!

    xo,
    kathy

Mabel looks so sweet in her pink tableau. What a fun idea Flat Lay Sunday is. It’s nice to see a bit more of your handiwork on the quilt. Don looks like he’s been playing with a Tesla coil, lol. He really is a good sport. Glad his gig went so well. Enjoy your afternoon. It’s sunny and quite mild here today. It certainly perks up your spirits. My husband just came home with two pots of pink tulips. We enjoy them and then later he plants the bulbs in the garden. Hugs, Elaine

It was sunny here yesterday but it’s very cloudy here today – a precursor to tomorrow’s rain.

      Oh, pink tulips!

      Stay safe, Elaine.

dear Claudia/Don — Wow !! Don has alot of hair!! certainly a different look from usual one !!
am having lots of trouble this a.m. b/c I read Supreme Court decision re tRump — feels like we (all
of us in the USA) are doomed — my rage is off the charts — not much I can do about it but loud screaming has been heard which has probably reached Hudson Valley from here by now — just listen carefully. Glad Don’s events were well received as I totally expected — btw are these “coffee house” type of events? My 60s, 70s are showing, haha! hope you all stay safe, healthy

I had no doubt whatsoever that the Supreme Court would decide to keep him on the ballot.

WE NEED TO VOTE. That’s the only way.

Sometimes a coffee house, but Saturday night was in a bar – a really cool place.

      Stay safe, Linda.

I wonder if Don would consider some pink tips in his fabulous hair to celebrate spring? I myself “celebrated” spring by getting a very painful and swollen tick bite on my neck. Tick removed, and I am monitoring the site closely; in general I’d rather have some daffodils.

PS The Supremes are bought and paid for, eh?

I don’t think he’d go for that, Ceci!

So sorry about the tick bite! What a drag.

Well, at least 4 or 5 of them are bought and paid for. Corrupt.

      Stay safe, Ceci.

Don’s wild hair cracks me up! Glad his events went so well…especially Saturday night.

Mabel’s hair goes so well with your quilt. I was surprised when I realized Easter was so early this year…kind of crept up on me. Enjoy your day! ;)

Mabel looks very cute on that beautiful quilt. Such tiny squares!!!! Love the pastels so much.

Looking forward to another look at the egg cups. It has been quite a few years that I have seen them, and I look forward to that tour every year.

Yesterday it was 72* here and today it is gloomy and 56*. No rain as of yet though. Hope you have had a good day. Tell Don that is a very interesting look. I thought you were going to say you snapped it just as he heard today’s dictate offered by the SC. Take care.

That quilt in your flat lay is beautiful! I’d hang that on the wall if it was mine. Don’s light socket hair is too funny.

Green things are starting to come up and the robins are back big time. Spring is springing!!

    Take care,

Oh, yes-yes; LUV your egg cups (and their perfect display cabinet); never tire of the Easter tour, Claudia; and your fabric eggs in the basket, too!! And your bunnies with the hats; didn’t you make the outfit or their knitted hats? I’m not quite remembering except that the bunnies are darling.

I sorta just quickly right now scrolled thru your search/archive and I think I’m confusing crochet-knit bunnies with the cozies for egg cups? But you also have bunnies with Vintage by Crystal; do show!

Claudia, clearly I’m late to the party today. What a great photo! Both of them actually. Dons hair is a riot and quite fun. I think he should embrace the look. And that quilt! Those colors! Beautiful. Just like you!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
