A Photoless New Year’s Eve Post

December 31, 2010 at 12:54 pm by Claudia

Hello, everyone! Just a quick note to wish you Happy New Year. I haven’t done a post on either of my blogs because my dear Macbook is visiting the Apple Techs at the Apple Store. The other day, the fan ran really high and I noticed a solvent-like smell. Yuck. It ran just fine after that, but I thought I’d better have the techs take a look at it. It’s been 48 hours.

I don’t like being without my computer. Not at all.

Hopefully I can pick it up today…if not, tomorrow or Sunday. I’ve been reading blogs on our desktop computer but for some reason, I can’t always leave a comment.

Since I don’t ever do a ‘Best of (fill in year)’ post or a recap of my favorite posts, I am simply wishing you all a wonderful New Year. May all your dreams come true.

I did a post for you a couple of days ago:
    http://connie-livingbeautifully.blogspot.com/2010/12/in-honor-of-blues.html

I, too, lust after new cameras, but the one I got this past summer, a Canon Rebel XS is the nicest camera I’ve ever had for the $500.00 I paid for it. I just love it and can recommend it. Wonderful camera for the price (not too expensive).

I’ve been studying aperture, focus, etc. A few bloggers recommend turning off the flash. I don’t. I get better pix with the flash on, even outside. You truly just need to practice with the camera to get your best shot. Even I haven’t figured out all the settings on this camera, but I do KNOW that if I set it in the SETTINGS for the largest pictures—pixels wide—and THEN crop it on iPhoto, it gives a fantastic closeup photo. I also use the closeup feature for a real closeup but still use my largest setting of 3888 px wide no matter what. I almost always crop for closeups, especially for blog posts.

Okay, I’ve preached enough for one day. ;-)

    xoxo,
    Connie

    Claudia,
Love the pictures you’ve been taking, the orniments look really cool. Amazing what a ‘real’ camera (& some talent) can do for a picture. I love your new profile picture. It funny to see you without your turquoise glasses, your beautiful! Have a great, but safe New Years Eve friend. See you in 2011. Lisa

Well Claudia, being without a computer certainly isn’t fun! Then you just dig in there (up in cold country; I’m wearing shorts, you know) and be warm with Don and those two precious dogs. Happy New Year!

Even without images your posts are wonderful…….you truly are a special blogger and sweet lady.

Hope MAC comes home healthy again and you can continue playing with your camera and sharing lovely pics.

I’m now using a MacBook, an iMac, and my iPad, most of the time……..my Dell laptop is slowly dying and our two old PCs are just about dead! I love the Apple products, altho’ changing over requires some education from a granddaughter (14) who is brilliant with computers. We also paid for instruction at the Apple store……if we can ever find the time to go!!

Claudia dear, may this be a wonderful year for you, hubby, dear doggies, and family. Sending wishes for a healthy, happy and creative New Year…….and do keep on blogging!

    Hugs, Mary

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
