Pincushions & Caterpillars

August 9, 2010 at 9:40 am by Claudia

What do you think? I’ve added one of Betty’s pincushions. There will be more updates on this little rocker, of that you may be sure.

I’m in the middle of preparations for my trip to Florida on Wednesday morning. Didn’t I just get back home? This will be a much-needed visit with my parents and sister, brother-in-law and nephews. I especially need to see my Mom and give her some big hugs.

Look what I saw when I opened the side door just now:

A caterpillar in the most brilliant shade of yellow. I had to make sure Riley didn’t step on it while coming back in the house! What will this transform into, I wonder? Note: I just did some research and it will turn into an American Dagger Moth. They like Maple trees – and we have a lot of them.

Have a great Monday.

Claudia that is the prettiest caterpillar!

Have a wonderful trip to Florida. It is so hard to be far away from our close family members. My family are all in Florida. My Dad is very ill as well and I feel terrible since I can’t do more to help with his care. Sigh.

    Blessings, ~Melissa :)

Enjoy your stay in Florida. I dislike traveling, but sometimes it’s necessary when it comes to family.

And HELLO to Mr. Dagger Moth!

What a beautiful yellow! You know how much I love the color of sunshine. Betty does makes the loveliest pincushions, doesn’t she? She’s ever so talented. Be safe, my friend, till we talk again.

BLIMEY!! That’s one yellow caterpillar. He looks like he could do double duty and maybe wiggle along the track of a patio door and clean out the collection that always gathers (in mine, anyhow)..very cool.

You DID just get home, my dear and I am so sure it’s hard to leave your cottage and lovies again. But you mission is a good one and you will be so happy you did it. Safe journey.

You might want to bring a mask and snorkel. The humidity in FL has been ridiculous lately. I hope you have a good visit with family, especially with your mother.

The color of the caterpillar is striking. I would have grabbed my camera too. Thanks for showing us!

I am completely smitten with your little rocking chair & pin cushion!

My twin brother drove my parents up to visit here at the cottage a couple weeks ago. My dad is about to turn 86, and my mom is 85. I know how you feel about seeing your mom and getting some hugs! Enjoy your trip to Florida with your family, Claudia.

Oh – and I love the colorful little caterpillar – it looks like something Lewis Carroll dreamed up!

Cute little pincushion!! My daughter is in Florida visiting my sister and her family right now. They have had rain for several days because of the tropical depression and are hoping that it will stop tomorrow.

Have a wonderful trip and visit with your family. That’s an amazing caterpillar. I’ve never seen one that color, maybe because I live in the south without a lot of maple trees.

NICE LOOKING CATAPILLER, MY DAUGHTER OPENED THE SIDE DOOR YESTERDAY, AND THERE WERE TWO BLACK SNAKES, I THINK THEY WERE PINE SNAKES.
WHEN THE WEATHER IS SO HOT LIKE THIS THEY WILL CRAWL ON THE CEMENT PATIO LOOKING FOR WATER. HOPE THEY DON’T COME BACK.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
