Pink Saturday

November 28, 2009 at 1:05 am by Claudia

Happy Pink Saturday, everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I know we over ate…I was more than a tad uncomfortable at the end of the meal!

This week I have another hatpin holder to share with you. I found it on Ebay. It is Nippon porcelain and I love it.

Ah, my favorite color combination of pink and aqua. The flowers are so lovely, as is the gold edging.

Oh, so pretty!

See the raised dots? I’ve found that such designs were called ‘moriage.’ It was the art of applying raised dots to porcelain, especially Japanese porcelain, in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s.

I’m having a lot of fun seeking out my latest passion – these beautiful hatpin holders!

Please stop by our hostess Beverly’s blog – How Sweet the Sound, for a list of everyone participating.

Oh Claudia… Happy Pink Saturday sweetie.

I am beginning to love these little hatpin vases that you are collecting as well. They are just precious. This one I really love the color combination. It is so pretty, and the raised dots are so unique.

Like you said, it doesn’t take up very much room to have a collection like this. A shadow box might work just great for this type of collection.

Thanks for sharing sweetie. Please stop by and read my pink post. I love to share with you.

    Country hugs…Sherry

That hatpin vase is so pretty. I haven’t ventured into the Ebay world yet, but I have my eye on some china – so maybe I’ll give it a try soon. Thanks for the little lesson on “moriage”. That is really interesting. The raised dots really do add beauty don’t they? The details are so special. Glad you had a good Thanksgiving. Eating too much is part of the fun, don’t you think?

    Happy Pink Saturday.

We all have our “current collections” I suppose. Mine is pincushions from Etsy. And now I’ve decided I need decorative pins so I’ve started ordering them as well. Your hatpin vase is quite beautiful. I don’t have one, so that maybe means it will soon be on my “collection” list!

Claudia, this new treasure is a delight. I think the little raised dots are a charming touch. Glad to learn what this technique is called. I was at a thrift store this afternoon and they had an entire collection of antique hair keepers. At least I think that is what they are called. I suppose a collector had passed away and this is where the collection ended up.
Didn’t see any hat pin holders, but will keep that in mind when I’m out and about.
