Planted

May 10, 2023 at 8:40 am by Claudia

I’m trying to edit photos on the Lightroom app for the iPad and it’s much more cumbersome than the one on my laptop. Oh well, challenges keep my wits sharp and that’s a good thing. This is the chokecherry bush that’s right in front of the big maple. It’s fully in bloom at the moment.

I paid a visit to the nursery yesterday and got the rest of the plants for my pots. Everything has been potted now except for a few stray planters that I haven’t decided what to do with. It’s looking more finished around here.

Then, since I was going on very little sleep, I took a nap for just under two hours. Much, much needed! I slept a bit better last night, thank goodness.

Don’s hand is still sore but that will eventually fade away. He drove for the first time yesterday. He bought some groceries. Today, he’s doing some laundry. Hurrah!

Another sunny day today with a high of 72 degrees. Perfect. I’m going to sit on the porch for awhile and admire my handiwork. Just saw a bunny outside the door. Adorable!

Tomorrow, more mowing, but today? We’re taking it easy.

Stay safe.

Happy Wednesday.

that’s all good to hear … plants and planting and then admiring same, pretty weather, naps, don being able to drive/play music …! :)

i have some good news: i now have a newer window air conditioner, thanks to my landlord. that means it is more efficient, quieter and slightly less ugly than the other one. :)

and more good news: i now have free-standing, removable shelves in that older-ish ethan allen cupboard (the latter of which i bought, for the first and last time ever, on fb marketplace and is part of the same furniture group as my parents’ dining room set)! many thanks to my brother for all his help yesterday! i could paint those shelves and might someday, but for now i am (like you and your gardening, claudia) admiring it being done and in place. i walk into my living room, look around, open the cupboard doors and smile … several times now. i am relieved to have more visible floor space in my little place for having stacks of books now contained in the cupboard instead of on the floor. :)

hope you, don and everyone else have (more) good news and good days!

    stay safe.

I’m happy to hear Don’s hand is healing and he is back to more activities.

I finally got outside and started a little yard and garden cleanup yesterday. We got the vegetable garden rototilled. Still much to do but it feels good to get started.

We have had orioles at our feeders but no hummingbirds yet. And I wasn’t vigilant enough and a robin has made a nest right by our front door, on top of a large grapevine wreath. I usually take it down for awhile in the spring but didn’t think about it in time this year. We like to sit on the front porch but mamma robin has other ideas.
    Take care

Oh, I know how that is. We had to close up openings in the eaves of our porch roof because starling kept nesting there and we couldn’t use the porch.

      Stay safe, Marilyn!

Well done on the nursery. I think I might try to do the same this weekend. I don’t plan to get a lot — a few starter plants and something for the front that I can take to the lake when we go. But I’m just longing to see the greenhouse and all that color!

I bet you’ve made everything pretty with your spring pots. Glad Don can be a little more active, too. And a nap is a luxury everyone can affird. Enjoy your day. Hugs, Elaine

Glad you’re taking it easy. I wanted to tell you I finally watched “Spoiler Alert” last night and I am SO in love with that movie. I thought it would be good, but I had no idea it would be that good. The timing, tension, and tenderness was just right – a wonderful balance of humor and emotion, but not overly sentimental. The actors were wonderful, including you! For just a few lines, you really made an impact. Thank you for letting us know about this wonderful film. I very rarely watch a film twice, but I could watch this again!

Santos being elected at all is stunning. Hopefully, he’s on the way to the slammer.

      Stay safe, Linda!

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
