Post Celebration

December 26, 2021 at 8:09 am by Claudia

We had a lovely Christmas and I hope you did, too. Even with our usual low-key celebration, we still feel tired on the ‘day after.’

So does Monty.

The year of jewelry: Don bought me a watch and some earrings, both of which I had on my list. He gets nervous about things like that, but he nailed it. Also, a jigsaw puzzle, and these:

He said he saw an ad featuring the socks a month ago and immediately bought them. According to Don, he’s never purchased any present a month ahead of time. I love them.

We plan on taking it easy today. I’m working on a jigsaw puzzle of Shakespeare’s London and it’s very detailed and will take a long time to complete. Perfect! By the way, it was suggested to me on Amazon. They’ve got me pegged.

And then we’ll take a walk, because we are determined to keep walking this winter. I’m in better shape than I’ve been for a long time and I don’t want to be a slug.

We have leftovers (hurrah!) and sugar-free apple pie (Don’s specialty) that we didn’t even touch yesterday because we were so full after finishing our dinner.

Stay safe.

Happy Sunday.

great photo. great gifts. great day! i am glad for you!

except for missing members of my family, it was a low-key and lovely day here, too. we also had apple pie (with sugar), warmed a bit and with cinnamon ice cream on top. went for a walk, too, and then a ride to see light displays. wanted to go to church, but watched it online for obvious reasons. will watch “it’s a wonderful life” today.

and tomorrow i start a new job. i have mixed feelings: it is retail so not what i went to school for/have done most of my life. that means a definite drop in income (i am not going to work in a hospital or nursing home, because of covid), but … focusing on the positives … it is full-time and to be almost always weekdays and daytime hours. it will be good to have money coming in and get on a cheaper group health insurance plan in a few months. also on the plus side, it’s a smaller shop, not in a mall and not commission-based. the staff seem very nice and managers are pro-mask. and this is a job that won’t keep me up at night. i’m a bit nervous, but overall good about and grateful for this.

am out the door soon to spend time with some members of my family. hope you, don and everyone else here will have a nice day, too.

my last job was stressful at times, but in most ways and for many, many years a good fit … but things change (rather, a new boss there changed things). been hard, but i am seeing this as God opening a different door for me for better things ahead.

how are you? i hope safe, well and happy and that you and your family enjoyed a beautiful Christmas. happy new year to you all.

        thanks again.

        thanks, vicki.

one day there and so far, so good … though the technology is kind of overwhelming (it seems cash registers are much more like a computer nowaday … at least there). the people have been friendly and helpful.

i hope you and your husband had a peaceful Christmas and the new year will be full of good news for you.

        thanks again for your support.

        hej, martha … thank you!

i hope you had a beautiful Christmas … and are in an area of california getting rain (if needed) and not foot after foot of snow (unless wanted).

do you ever go back to visit? i lived in mc for about six years after schooling. very hard job at the hospital, but met some nice people there. my sister and i stopped by for a bit after not having been there for fifteen years or so … it’s grown. also sweetness in the museum tribute to meredith wilson and the music man.

thanks again for your kind words.

        stay safe.

Lovely tree….great socks! It’s been a whirlwind of a Christmas around here, and I wouldn’t have it any other way! Love, laughter, good food…maybe too much good food, and most importantly family.

I have a fridge and freezer full of leftovers as well….enjoy. Sounds like a nap day for you perhaps? Mine will come on Thursday…after London son leaves. Enjoy your day! ;)

Sounds lovely Claudia. I had a wonderful time with my family and my Grandkids were so happy and excited. Nice meal and then home for a nap. Woke up feeling poorly and as the night wore on my head hurt and my throat and I have a cough. So I’ll get covid tested tomorrow (my first). Hopefully nothing but I will need to know.

Claudia — hope your holiday was good — love the socks, guitar looks great — your tree still looks very green and lovely. Mr/me had a really good time w/children/grands — not much equals love/concern/compliments from grands — they can really ‘perk up’ our lives. Our time together is very important to each of us. best wishes for the New Year. stay safe/healthy

Love the socks! My husband and I love books (especially buying books from used bookstores or library sales) — I have a box of “to be read” on my front porch but OF COURSE buy more. (I got a Barnes & Noble gift card from a friend for Christmas and already bought the Anthony Bourdain biography to read even though I probably have a dozen other books waiting. In my opinion, $ spent on books is never wasted!). Anyway. . your husband has great taste!

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
