Post Feast

The little white tree in the Den. This isn’t capturing the lights all that well, but they’re tiny and lovely. I do like this new tradition; setting up this little tree before Thanksgiving so we can get a little taste of Christmas before we officially decorate.

Our neighbors across the street sometimes have outdoor Christmas lights up and sometimes don’t. It varies from year to year. But this year, they got them up early – maybe two weeks ago? I suspect they, like most of us, really need some Christmas this year.

We had a lovely day yesterday. And boy, was dinner fabulous! The biscuits were the “best ever” according to Don, and we had the usual vegetarian “turkey” roast, mashed potatoes and veggie gravy, along with steamed carrots, and jellied cranberry slices. And pumpkin pie to top it all off, by which point I was incredibly overstuffed. Then we watched “Stranger Things.” Perfect.

Today, after having this task on my Things to Do list for four days in a row, I am finally going to put up our outdoor Christmas lights.

Tomorrow, or today, I’m not sure, I’ll start to decorate the dollhouses.

I hope you had a lovely day yesterday and I trust you’re going to take it easy today.

Stay safe.

Happy Friday.

I AM going to take it easy today as I did host Thanksgiving and it turned out great. We suspect a big snowstorm for the weekend so I will be stuck inside. That’s fine with me as I can start putting up the Christmas decorations and do a LOT of reading. I’m reading the newest from the Thursday Murder Club series and then I have Louise Penny’s newest waiting. Perfect timing! ;)

That’s the same lineup I have, Ellen. Thursday Murder Club and the Louise Penny.

      Stay safe.

your little white tree with lights is beautiful, cheery! hope the weather is good for putting up the porch lights. and i’m glad you’re enjoying the decorations now.

glad you and don had a lovely thanksgiving. hope everyone did.

yesterday was bittersweet for my brother, sister and me … the first thanksgiving without at least one of our parents here to see and hug and enjoy a meal together. grateful for them all and the times we had before and for those who gathered yesterday and am looking forward to better days and happy reunions (they’re coming).

went for a nice walk in 16-degree weather this morning. found a lot of acorns on public property yesterday so today brought a bag, gathered a bunch of acorns and put them in two places closer to home for earl and his family. sooner or later we all need some kind of help or treats. :) and here it’s sooner because we’re predicted to get a foot or more of snow tonight and all day tomorrow! i never like the hardships such weather causes, but personally i am excited for that much snow. helps to be stocked up (a privilege and blessing for which i am also grateful).

hope you, don and everyone else have an easy day with leftovers and holiday decorating, football, etc. to enjoy. stay safe in every way!

The weather wasn’t good. Way too windy. So I’ll put them up today.

My best friend is going to be impacted by the snow – they’ve had to change plans in order to have some sort of Thanksgiving with their adult kids.

Holidays are always hard without our parents. Hang in there.

      Stay safe.

Sounds like you had a great feast…we did too. But there’s no rest day for us. A big snowstorm is descending on us tomorrow…9+ inches. Probably more like a foot, so we’ve already made a grocery run, and have things on our to do list….Jim more than me…like get gas for the snowblower. That’s important!

I’m going to do a little inside decorating today…finish by Sunday. That’s the plan. We’ll see how far I get. Outside has been done since last weekend…just not plugged in yet.

Hope you get your porch lights up. Enjoy your day! ;)

My best friend and I were talking on the phone, and they are also prepping for the storm. They’ve had to schedule two separate Thanksgivings with their adult children as they’re traveling from other states. We’re due for some snow on Tuesday, but nothing like what you’re getting.

Porch lights will go up today as it was way too windy yesterday.

      Stay safe, Donnamae.

Happy Thanksgiving!! This is for everyone, remember to eat the hen, not the rooster. That meat would be so tough, ugh :-)

I don’t eat meat, so, thankfully, not an issue for me!

      Stay safe, Irene.

Working like crazy to get the house decorated before my pacemaker surgery on Monday. I love your little tree. I don’t think I’ll have outdoor lights this year — the solar ones will have to do and in Michigan there’s a 50/50 chance there will be enough light but you have to make choices.

Your Thanksgiving sounds glorious. A perfect day!

Thanks so much, Jeanie. Will the pacemaker surgery be outpatient or will you have to stay in the hospital? Thinking of you.

      Stay safe.

They say it’s a hospital overnight. But my surgery is fairly early so who knows. I think I might feel more secure there!

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
