Postcard from Florida

August 22, 2015 at 8:56 am by Claudia

A quick post to share with you today. I’m having a wonderful time with family. And I’m playing with and hugging both my nephew Little Z and my furry nephew, Max.

8-22 littlezzz

That face. He’s smart, sassy, funny and loving. He has the most expressive eyebrows I’ve ever seen, I’m in love with them.

My sister is an incredible mom and I love seeing her with Z.

8-22 quilt shop

Meredith took me to the most incredible quilt shop in Dunedin – Rainbow’s End Quilt Shop. They have absolutely everything. If I had lots of money to blow, I could have done a nice job of it in this shop. Fabric, sewing machines, quilt patterns, an extensive array of gorgeous ribbons – they have everything.

8-22 dunedindolphin

We stopped down by the water. I miss the ocean and had to get a little shot of sea air.

8-22 bird

8-22 egret

Dunedin reminds me of some of my favorite California beach towns; charming and slightly funky in the best possible way.

8-22 library

A lovely little discovery down by the water. This Little Free Library was decorated with rope and shells…I peeked inside and there’s some good reading matter there!

8-22 water

Clearwater off in the distance.

I forgot to bring my big girl camera, so these are courtesy of my iPhone.

More later.

Happy Saturday.

Oh for a walk on the beach in the sunshine. We had SNOW yesterday. I know I live just down the road from Santa Claus, but I feel quite indignant as it isn’t even the end of August. Enjoy your time with your sister and her family!

Oh dear, …I found the first autumn leaf today and now your post from Florida. Better start thinking about flying South for the winter. Summer is drawing to a close here up North. Have fun with family.

Perfect little “postcard post.” Little Z looks very relaxed in his rocker, enjoying a snack. And I love the seagull and heron photos. Either would make an excellent snail mail postcard, and I can almost smell the salt air just looking at them. Love the sign on that floating dock too – word to the wise!! Enjoy the rest of your family time in the Sunshine State… :>)

Dunedin reminds me of Venice Beach or old Santa Cruz (pre-earthquake…). The quilt shop looks like some place where I can spend hours looking around. Have more fun with Little Z and Max, and your sister!

Hi Claudia! Your picture postcards are all lovely even if taken without the aid of your “big girl” camera. :)) These are photos to bring back memories for YOU later, and each one is a treasure! :D

Love the pics. Little Buddy is truly adorable. My niece lives at Safety Harbor and when I am visiting we always go to Dunedin. Such a charming place! I’ll have to check out the quilt shop next time I am there.

Isn’t Rainbow’s End fabulous!! I have been several times and just love it! I only live in Orlando, but just haven’t had time to visit it in years! Since reading your post I think I might just go over on Labor Day Weekend…
Glad you are having such a great time with your family and that Handsome little nephew!!! I enjoy following Meredith’s Blog as well.
I am sorry your Dad had to give up driving, that is one of the hardest things to do when we get older. But How nice that you and Don are going to have the much needed 2nd car. Will certainly make life easier for you both.

Thanks for sharing some of your travel scrapbook. I loved the dolphin statue and also the free library. You’ve got the eye, Claudia, even with your phone; great photos. So nice you can see the sea and be with your family!

YAY! I love getting post cards! This post was just like that. I’m so glad you’re having fun, bonding with Little Z and the pup! The library on the beach is such a neat find. I’ve seen these (online only) all over the country. I’ve not seen one here. :/
    Enjoy your visit…

I used to live on Lake Tarpon in Tarpon Springs. Many great memories of Dunedin and Clearwater. We camped on the beach. Fun times. You never forget the smell of the water and wet sand, miss it every day.

Looks like you’re having a blast. I loved your photos. They definitely cheered me up as today, we had thunderstorms going since one o’clock this afternoon until six the evening. We discovered a leak in our living room window and we found a puddle on the floor, a soft portion of the wall underneath the molding of the window and rotted wood that frames the inside part of the window. I’m going to forget this and concentrate very hard on that sweet little library!

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
