How many times can you post a photo of pottery and make it look fresh? The answer? Zero. But I keep trying. Frankly, in the non-gardening season, it isn’t easy to come up with new ideas for a photo. Only if I happen to have something new to display, like the kitchen island.
I’m tired today. The winds have been very strong all night long and today. I didn’t sleep well because the wind kept waking me up. So I feel sort of edgy – strong winds do that to me – and I keep shouting at the wind to ‘Cool it!’
It isn’t listening to me.
At least it’s sunny. There’s that.
We watched another episode of Babylon Berlinย last night and then switched over to coverage of Super Tuesday. Very, very interesting, don’t you think? I will admit to being very excited about the next several months, though I will do my best to maintain some distance from the 24 hour news and social media coverage. Sanity remains my top priority.
I’m reading Year of the Monkeyย by Patti Smith. And, since I’m tired, perusing magazines, which are the best thing for me when my attention span is somewhat limited.
Thankfully I have a husband who is one of the funniest people I know and last night, in the midst of the results when my energy was flagging and the wind was beginning to howl, he had me laughing so hard that I started snorting. He was relentless. I can’t begin to describe to you what he was saying but it was a long running monologue and I finally had to beg him to stop, just so I could breathe.
When I was younger, but not so young that I wasn’t already wise about this sort of thing, I was often asked what I considered to be my number one requirement on my list of qualities in a future mate. The non-negotiable requirement.
I would immediately answer, “A sense of humor. He has to make me laugh and laugh a lot.”
Bingo. I got my wish. He can make me laugh so hard that I have to rush to the bathroom because I’m going to pee in my pants.
I’m not bragging…but maybe I am – I can also make him laugh just as hard. Nothing makes me happier than making my husband laugh.
Where would we be without laughter?
Happy Wednesday.

The best medicine!
Claudia says
Absolutely! Thanks, Anne.

Your pottery is gorgeous no matter the angle. I suppose it would be difficult to find things to photograph all the time for us. But…you know we appreciate it!
Laughter is a wondrous thing. Sometimes we need a little funny. And sometimes, we just desperately need the good old-fashioned laughter that is gut-busting, side splitting, and snort filled! Enjoy your day! ;)
Claudia says
Laughter is so healing. Don and I say that all the time. Thank goodness for it! Thanks, Donnamae.

Firstly, glad to read of your rebate! Today is the first day of sunshine that I can recall for months. It’s still only about 40 degrees but compared to the incessant chilly rains we’ve had for the past weeks, it’s very welcome.
Not so welcome and rather worrying is the fact that of less than 90 cases of Coronavirus confirmed in the UK, 3 of them have emerged over the past couple of days in the town where I work. The originator has recently returned from Italy. I’m on annual leave this week so won’t be doing my public facing job. Part of me thinks I’m being silly to worry but I fall into the slightly vulnerable age group of being over the age of 60!
Happy Wednesday
Claudia says
Take care of yourself and stay home, Dee Dee. And wash your hands, my friend. You will be okay.

I love a good old snort-laugh!! Seems I need to work a bit harder at finding them, though!! But, we must laugh, because crying hasn’t changed a thing ~ except, of course, my heart palpitations and BP. Need to seek out the joy!
The pottery is lovely any time you share it with us. Here is to more laughter today and tomorrow, and beyond!!!
Claudia says
Well, you can’t find them. They just happen, usually when you least expect it. But yes, seek out the joy!
Thank you, Chris!

SPOT ON ! As previously confessed on your blog, I was scolded on a commercial flight by a passenger for laughing. In pre-op laughing with friends around my bed a
nurse said she’d never met a patient so happy pre surgery ( before they started the meds). I’ve never maintained a relationship with anyone lacking a sense of humor. I’ve never hired an employee sans a sense of humor. It was number 2 on my list for
a mate. How does one get through life without a sense of humor ? Another
great topic Claudia.
Claudia says
I also cannot hang around anyone without a sense of humor. I encountered that when I was working in various offices in my younger years. It’s deadly. Thanks so much, R!

No doubt I’m apt to meet with some groans over this but it’s absolutely true & too rare not to share. My friend was one of the people called to gather when a friend was passing.
As everyone stood there somber & weeping the patient opened his eyes, took a look at
the group & said “you’re all going to be really disappointed if I don’t die now, aren’t you” ? It was the last time he spoke & he did pass soon after. We decided it gave new meaning to the expression “leave them laughing”. Yes, I do know it’s an awful story, but everyone remembered him for being hilarious to the end and loved him all the more for the fact.
Claudia says
I love this story! It isn’t awful at all. Bless his heart, he kept his humor to the end. Thanks so much for sharing this, R.

” A sense of humor. He has to make me laugh and laugh a lot. ”
YES! it’s what I miss the most.
it’s the magic glue in a marriage.
and the most important thing to me . . . just in LIFE itself!
Claudia says
I agree. It’s essential, my friend. Thank you, Tammy!
Olivia says
The best part of laughing is to think about the incident days or even weeks later and laugh just as hard all over again. This happens to me and I will be alone. It feels great. With marriage(for me 34 years) come the inside words. No one else would have a clue what we are talking about, but just one word will sum up a situation we are observing. The word is followed with a knowing smile and a head nod. It’s great to share your life with some one you love.
Claudia says
I love that part. Sometimes, Don will hear me laugh somewhere in the house and he’ll ask what is so funny. I respond that I’m thinking of whatever funny thing he said and it’s making me laugh all over again.
Love what you said about the ‘inside words’ Olivia. So true! Thank you.

A sense of humor has always been my #1 requirement in a husband too. We are both fortunate. It is definitely required when watching anything related to politics these days! Your pottery is beautiful and I will never tire of seeing pictures of it.
Claudia says
We needed it when watching the talking heads last night, Jane! Thank you.
jeanie says
I adore the pottery. But my heart is with the laughter. Yes, you are a lucky woman in that regard (and many others!).
I was riveted last night. Fasten your seat belts…
Claudia says
I was riveted, too. Here we go! Thanks, Jeanie.

How wonderful that you found your perfect mate. You are both very lucky. Of course I know you do the work relationships require too.
Claudia says
We do. I know you do, as well! We’re lucky, aren’t we? Thanks, Kay.
