Puzzle completed. The Jardin du Luxembourg in Paris. I couldn’t resist working on it as it’s my favorite place in Paris. This one took a while!
I heard the peepers for the first time last night. Now, I know it’s spring! I checked when they first appeared last year and it was March 23rd. It’s nine days earlier this year. The groundhog was right; it’s an early spring. It’s been warm here this week. Next week will be about 15 degrees colder. March is always a tease.
More of the tour:
On the left: a rooster pulling an egg cup in a pale pink and cream color palette. It’s rare to have the original sticker on anything vintage. It’s made by California Potteries.
Center: one of my favorites – a lustreware egg cup house, with two little chicks playing on a seesaw or teeter totter, as we called them in my part of Michigan.
On the right: a lovely egg cup being pulled by a goose. It’s beautifully painted and is in mint condition.
In fact, all three of these cups are in mint condition.
On the left, a duck with an egg cup on her back.
Center: one of my favorites, a pig wearing a bib seated at a table waiting to dine on his egg. This was made for Tiffany.
On the right: a little girl wearing a bunny outfit who looks like she’s ready to dine on her egg. Love the spots on the cup.
All vintage.
Gulp: I have a lot more egg cups to show you before Easter! How am I going to fit them all in?
Stay safe.
Happy Friday.

It’s always a treat to see your egg cup collection! I love the pig waiting for his dinner!

Isn’t that one charming?
Thanks, Jenny.

We were 70s the other day, now 40s. March. It’s what it does. In 1977 on March 18, we were in an ice storm. I suppose it could happen again but I hope not!
Love today’s cups, especially the little guy at the table. And I can see why that puzzle was a toughie. A good one, but a toughie!
Claudia says
I remember a big ice storm in the seventies. My parents’ power was out for weeks!
Just scouted this cup on eBay. It’s going for $80 to $120!
Stay safe, Jeanie.

Every time I see your egg cup groupings I have a new favorite. If it were me…I wouldn’t be able to stop collecting….there’s just too much cuteness out there.
That puzzle looks tough…but so worth the effort. What’s next?
March has been interesting to say the least. 20’s at night to a high of 73 last weekend. Now we are back to winter like conditions. Next week…spring. I feel like a yo-yo. We got rain yesterday, yay. We still could use more though. But things are budding out and our lawn is greening up nicely.
Enjoy your day! ;)
Claudia says
Yes, we will also be yo-yos next week!
The brambles are budding, so it’s starting.
Stay safe, Donnamae.

what a pretty puzzle. may you and don get back to the real jardin du luxembourg sooner than it might be feeling likely to you.
glad you heard the peepers. peep! peep!
that pig waiting for his dinner is very, very cute.
getting my taxes done today and i am as ready as can be to have them done. one of the things i feel anxious about is that, despite filing on time in 2022, i didn’t get my 2021 federal tax refund until february 2023 (because of that $138 error). wondering if that means i have to file amended state/federal statements for 2021 and 2022 or do something else (and if that raises the cost to getting my taxes done this year … probably … ugh). thankfully the same man who did my taxes last year is doing them today. i told him last year about that delayed refund and he said we’ll get to that this year. will find out what’s needed in about three hours and i am glad about that. i may have been a procrastinator on some things in my younger years, but not now. i just want the “have to” stuff done!!!
hope you all are having a good day. stay safe! and may the tax numbers be in your favor, everyone!
kathy
Claudia says
Good luck with the taxes, Kathy!
I have a feeling that there will not be another trip to Paris. Too many other things that we need to pay/take care of.
Stay safe!

in this case, i hope that you are wrong (about getting back to paris) and that i am right. :)

Oh, I’d missed this post; am catching up. A few years ago at my Hallmark store, I picked up a couple of diminutive, ceramic figurines (not a HMK product) like your spotted/polka-dot(?) cup with the bunny girl; however, these are baby reindeer (or are they elves; haven’t gotten them out for the most-recent Christmases!) with the same sweet face as your egg girl; mine of course, repros, but what d’ya think, Claudia, 1950s? Of course yours would be the real-deal 50s if so. Love that cup. (But like other readers here have said, how to choose just one favorite as your collection is just incredible; and, til you and this blog, I knew absolutely NOTHING about egg cups!)
Oh again! The puzzle; so fab; the green chairs scattered around are exactly in the painting you created, true? (It’s one of your best, that painting!). What you were replying to kathy in iowa, about maybe no more trips to Paris, I’ve had to wrestle with that nagging thought, too, that maybe it’s really not going to happen for me again in terms of my travel bucket list; yet, Claudia, I just can’t give up; let’s somehow keep the dream, okay?!!
Claudia says
I would think 1950s for this little girl. Just a guess, but a lot of these egg cups were made in the 50s and 60s.
We won’t give it up entirely, but with no work for either of us and a very tight budget, right now it seems an impossibility.
Stay safe, Vicki.
Linda MacKean says
Some of these egg cups are familiar but a couple were new to me and I enjoyed seeing them. Hugs!!
Claudia says
Thank you, Linda!

That’s a beautiful puzzle. I really like the colors and the symmetry. I think my favorite egg cup today is the one with the chicks on the teeter totter…loved playing on one when I was a kid. Happy Friday!
Claudia says
Thank you, Barrie!
