Puzzles, Olivia, & The Hearing

July 12, 2022 at 9:21 am by Claudia

Having so much fun with this one: Alice’s Wonderland. It’s made by the same company that does all of the “World of…” puzzles. They’re always beautifully illustrated and the quality of the pieces is excellent. I may finish today, but then again, with the hearing this afternoon, I may not.

Don’s eye doctor had delayed his original appointment because he was going to be on vacation. It had been rescheduled for the end of this month, but his eye was beginning to bother him, so he called yesterday morning and got an appointment for the afternoon. This time, I drove. I’m glad he got in the same day he called. All is well.

We’re due for some storms this afternoon. “Potentially severe.” Just don’t knock our power out when the hearings are on.

I felt the need to dress a doll this morning. It was Livvy’s turn. (I do keep track of these things.)

I call this “Olivia and the Flowers.”

She really is my comfort doll. I’ve decided that she’ll be by my side today. She can help me with the puzzle.

Just looked at the radar for this afternoon. It looks a bit ominous.

Stay safe.

Happy Tuesday.

    Olivia is a lovely girl.

Your photo yesterday showed such sun; and now today you’ll be stormy? Wow!

We actually, for once (lately), didn’t hit 90 yesterday, but we’ll warm up again tomorrow, or so say our beleaguered weathercasters here in SoCalif. (I guess they get tired of people complaining of the heat; although I have family in the South U.S. and they’re feeling blistered by hot weather, a lot worse than where I am!)

An aside: I was so sorry to see (reading about it online) that old (centuries-old) hotel go down on Nantucket. Fire is so devastating; leaves you with NOTHING. When my friend lost her home in the Calif wildfires (of four and a half years ago), she just walked away and didn’t even sift thru the rubble (pointless); grabbed the stone birdbath out in the yard; her only memento remaining from a 4-bed/2-story home of 40 years. But indeed what a loss for those island hotel owners, as it was reported that they’d only just recently renovated.

And now we’ve got wildfire in beautiful Yosemite National Park with the sequoia trees under threat; is just so alarming. Spent many a summer vacation there when I was a kid, and I just hate having to see that gorgeous valley encased in smoke (as shown on TV the past couple of days). Genius botanists and fire-prevention folks wrapping the trunks with fire-retardant sheathing; using ‘rainbird’ sprinklers to wet the massive trunks. Fingers crossed the trees don’t burn.

We will be in the high eighties and low nineties for the next week or so. Everyone is feeling it!

      Stay safe, Vicki.

hope you get some rain if needed, but nothing bad. also that the power stays on, hearing time or not.

glad that don’s eyes are taken care of and there was no lengthier delay for that appointment.

love olivia’s dress (i love tiny floral fabrics).

    and the puzzle looks fun!

today i am going out to choose a frame, etc. for art my family gave me. it probably won’t be completed for a couple months because andy works alone and is very busy (because he does great work), but at least it will be on his list. will also spend time today visiting with some of my family, then cleaning around here. glad and grateful for all that and more.

hope you have a good day and stay safe.

My kitchen smells nice right now as I am baking zucchini bread. I was watering my brother’s garden while he is away and discovered some giant zucchini that should have been picked sooner. But those big ones are always good for zucchini bread!
I’ll be watching the hearing this afternoon too!

That looks like a puzzle I’d love — I’ll have to check that one out. I love to the max that you have a Comfort Doll. Definitely keep her close this afternoon. I’ll probably stream through PBS, since I don’t have telly available. (And actually, who needs it anymore?) It should be a good one… and I hope very damaging!

      A little convicting to me.😟

A very good hearing. The Committee is knocking it out of the park.

      Stay safe, Jeanie.

Oh my heavens. We’re approximately halfway through today’s hearing (at the moment in recess), and the revelations via clips of text messages and posts have been chilling.
    And we’re back in session.
    Stay safe everyone!

Olivia is so sweet I bet she is a good comfort pal. I will be watching the hearings this evening. I had a Dr’s appt this afternoon so missed the live but thank goodness it’s easy to find on PBS. Hope the storm is minimal.

The storm never appeared – at least around here! Go figure.

      Stay safe, Linda.

You are probably getting the rain we had yesterday/last night. Today is beautiful here.

I watched the 1/6 hearing this afternoon…very disturbing. Also, Trump is guilty of witness tampering with a hearing witness and the justice dept was notified. I want to see him in an orange jumpsuit. It is a good color for him.
Just now I saw a video of the Uvalde shooting of the police response. Talk about disturbing…they looked completely disorganized. You see one take out his phone and look at it, and another stop and get some hand sanitizer from a wall dispenser in the hall. Meanwhile kids are dying. They should all be fired. It is hard to comprehend what they were thinking. It’s just infuriating.
    Take care

This is the second time they’ve referred to witness tampering. Trump is basically a Mafia guy, so he thinks he can get away with it.

The Uvalde video. I cannot take it in. Innocent children and adults could have been saved. But they stood out in the hallways and DID NOTHING.

      Stay safe, Marilyn.

Love the puzzle….looks like a patchwork quilt!

I was pretty riveted to the hearing today. There’s so much compelling information….I just hope it’s enough for the DOJ!

    Hope your power stayed on!

I can’t imagine that it’s not enough. And it sounds like more and more people are coming forward. It’s definitely a fluid situation.

      Stay safe, Barrie.

I’m reading your blog late tonight! Insomnia…
I’ve always liked Olivia the best of all your dolls. I love her sweet expression and the shade of her hair. Is it pink or lavender or maybe a mix of both? And that outfit is so cute on her!
May I ask what doll maker you bought Olivia from?
    Take care,
    Lily

She was made by Natalia by VegaDolls. It’s one of her earlier dolls. I adopted her from her first owner via a DollyAdoption on Facebook. I love her. It also led me to adopt two more VegaDolls. They have such a sweetness!

      Her hair is lavender, Lily.

      Stay safe.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
