Slow going. That’s fine, as I fiddle with it for an hour or so every morning and then leave it for the rest of the day. I’m trying to assemble the big flowers. I’ll have a lot of filling in to do and those little patterned pieces on the edge? There are a lot of them; both on the edges and up the middle of the puzzle. They’re very hard to figure out – I know that from my last go-round with this puzzle. Hopefully, slowly filling in the middle will help me figure out where everything else goes more easily.
It’s a messy day out there. We had a bit of snow in the late afternoon yesterday, but then, of course, the inevitable rain came and now it’s a combination of sleet and rain. But the road is wet and traffic seems fine.
Monday might bring some snow; at least, as of now. I no longer trust these forecasts. And there’s a blizzard warning in Los Angeles, of all places!
Since we’re temporarily signed up for HBO Max, we’re catching up on a few series we couldn’t see before. Hacks, with Jean Smart, was brilliant. Loved it. I’m a huge fan of Jean Smart; she can do anything. There’s a new season being filmed and I can’t wait. I’ve mentioned The Last of Us, which is being released weekly. We are hooked. And now we’re watching Chernobyl which is gut wrenching and incredibly well done. The only things we watch on traditional network television are Jeopardy and All Creatures Great and Small. That’s it. I’ve stopped watching the news for the sake of my sanity.
Don made an apple pie yesterday and you can bet we’ll have a piece this afternoon!

I had never seen F. I just don’t do the regular tv things…I have since watched so many times…I laugh and laugh and laugh. I have mentioned this before: Readers: Don’s music is enchanting…I actually pulled up one of his songs to listen to (only me) at the dental office to help my health…well…it was too late…but he is my go to person when I want soothing. Love the Nova Scotia song. By the way, I was married to a gospel singer, and we visited several states for concerts. Thank you Claudia for this…thank you, Don for your lovely music…I still say you would give Don Williams a run for his money…

I read this to Don, Brenda. He was very touched.

hope your blood pressure numbers get/stay good, brenda, and that the dental appointment went well.
no cable, but have two tvs … and don’t get some over-the-air channels at all or regularly. am okay with that as i don’t watch much tv. i like that “blue bloods” tv show a lot (except how dark the indoor house and office scenes are … not realistic)! love “andy griffith” and occasionally can see “keeping up with appearances”. love “frazier” (and the casting of frazier and niles … perfect!) … and want to see kelsey grammer’s upcoming movie, “Jesus revolution”. love “andy griffith” and “keeping up appearances”, too. and as you/claudia, said, i try to avoid watching the news … except for weather.
love don’s music, too … as is and when there’s a surprise appearance by claudia! :)
enjoy that gulf breeze and be well.

When you first see the colorway of the jigsaw pieces, it’s a blast of beautiful blue.
Well, we have quite a happening this morning where we live north of L.A. We have SNOW on our southerly mountains at between 1000-1500 ft. I personally don’t recall seeing this since 1977 although my hubs insists we had some around 1990. I can’t tell you the thrill. There was more at daybreak than there is right now after 9:30am, but it’s still up there; wow.
We are, for thin-skinned us, frosty-cold, too; was 36 degrees about five hours ago. Chilly and gray. And the biggest of the rain (has been raining, not hard, since about 5:30am) won’t even arrive til later today. WHAT will be in store?! The actual town I live in is at less than 300-ft elevation; we’re a coastal community. If we get snow on the ground, it will be a MAJOR excitement for us. I am an old(er) person who has almost never seen snow as it falls.
I just don’t know what to make of this winter; ours is as unique as yours in the Hudson Valley, Claudia! Remember that people in Southern California are not accustomed to lower-elevation snow and we’re usually starved for rain. The one sad thing is that we’re losing too many trees. Some are old with weak roots; they can’t hold up to the saturated ground. Palms and eucalypts are not natives here; some don’t fare well in this kind of weather especially with so much wild wind. Although, conversely, the eucalypts were planted en masse, well over a hundred years ago to often be a break for the winds, sometimes called shelter breaks, planted in one long row, for orchard fruit protection (lemons, oranges; avocado). Palms and eucalyptus trees are very favored and loved here; it’s just quintessential California in this lower portion of the state. It’s our signature landscape.

Exciting weather, Vicki! Keep us posted!
Stay safe.

Ominous, dark sky with solid clouds parted briefly to also reveal LOTS of snow on our higher NORTH mountains; so, our valley is rimmed now on either side…with SNOW! This is RARE. And we ain’t seen nuth’in yet, according to the meteorologists. I’m currently under a flood, wind and blizzard advisory, but I’m not worried; we’ll be fine. We are tucked in with battened hatches. And it’s glorious to think of our dams, reservoirs, ponds, lakes, rivers, streams replenished with good, clean, RAINwater. GOODBYE DROUGHT. Just keeping fingers crossed for everybody to be safe. The forecasters on TV are pleading with people to stay home; stay off the roads (if at all possible). There’ve been a lot of days to plan for this; enough weather info on social media, television and even radio. It’s just gonna be quite a lot of rain tomorrow and Saturday; and I’m dreading the worst of the wind forecasted for Saturday. We are prepped for power outage. Oh well; and, hey, thanks for being excited along with me, Claudia! (I’m weather-obsessed!)

Winter returned today with a vengnce but I got even, lol. I baked Don’s sugarless apple pie 🍏. It was delicious. It’s my new favourite apple pie recipe. It made the house smell so good. Your puzzle is coming along. I can see why it is so challenging. Hugs, Elaine

Isn’t it wonderful? I’m so glad you enjoyed it, Elaine. I told Don and he was very happy.
Stay safe!

We had ice yesterday but nothing like the rest of the state south of us got. (And maybe west). I had to go to the doc and by then it had melted enough to feel relatively safe.
Sorely lacking in motivation these days. Not painting. I am reading but that’s about it. I have two puzzles that were late holiday gifts last week and one from even before Christmas and I can’t seem to get myself to start any of them.Hopefully the funk will disappear soon.
(Can’t wait to see the finished piece — bet it will be beautiful!)
