Rain, Filming, and a Puzzle

April 5, 2024 at 7:52 am by Claudia

Wednesday was a day of torrential rain. It never stopped. I even heard thunder, which is rare this time of year. Don left the house at 5 am and returned around 10:15. His work day was 12 hours, routine for filming (the same hours I worked on Spoiler Alert.) But when you add in the 90 minute commute to Yonkers, where they filmed, you work a very long day. Don had a good time on that set, he loved the director and the cast. He was more than a bit stressed heading into Wednesday as he hadn’t worked in so long. But once he got there, it was all very familiar.

I’m proud of him. And, he has two more episodes in a month or so. He forgot to tell me that! “Didn’t I tell you??” No. You did not. It’s so good to see him working again in a profession he has been a part of for over 50 years.

I started this puzzle, which was the cheapest 1000 piece puzzle I could find on Amazon, most likely because it has an autumn theme. It kept me sane while the rain was pounding on the roof.

It’s cold again and will be for the next couple of nights. Next week will be warmer. Finally!

I’m reading Daniel Silva books like crazy. I read many of his spy thrillers in the past but somehow stopped reading them around 9 years ago. This time around, I started with his newest and I’m working my way backwards to where I left off. Though I’m not certain exactly where I left off. He’s such a good writer, the kind of writer who writes so well that I become completely immersed in the plot and can’t put it down. I’m grateful for having found him again.

I hope to get outside today to do some more work. There is much to be done!

Stay safe.

Happy Friday.

That’s great that Don will have more episodes to come! Good news!
Do you have thrift shops near you? There are always lots of cheap puzzles for sale at the resale shops I go to and often there are unopened boxes so the pieces are probably all there!
    Have a good weekend, Claudia.

We don’t really have thrift shops around here, Ellen.

I’m so glad that Don is filming again. He has so much talent to offer and I hope it makes him some new contacts that lead to more work in the future, since he still wants to work.

We’ve been following your weather a little bit, as it’s near to the time we would have been heading your way to the lake in past years. Snow is on the ground up there. Brrr! Weird weather all over. This has been the coolest/coldest spell we’ve had since we moved down south ten years ago.

We had a dusting of snow on the ground yesterday but I knew it would disappear quickly.

      Stay safe, Shanna.

Don must feel so good to have done the filming on Wednesday and also have two more coming up! Though it was a long day I bet he had a big smile. I really like the puzzle…lots of details. We’re having quite a bit of rain and even a dusting of snow on our hills…. it’s cold! Should be dry this weekend. Enjoy your reading!

Excellent that Don has more acting work. Hope this leads to even more.

I’ve gone through my puzzles and will donate about 25% to the thrift shop. I’ve kept my wooden ones, which I do enjoy reworking.

Youngest Daughter leaves for 1+ week trip to Peru tomorrow. Am I nervous about her traveling so far away? YES. At least she’s in a tour group.

Glad that Don has more work than you thought and he is enjoying himself! I have to have a jigsaw on the go and get most of mine from charity shops (thrift stores) or swap with work colleagues.

I have been reading about the earthquake tremors in New York and surrounding areas, hope that you and any other readers living close by are safe and well.

I didn’t feel it, though a friend who lives north of us did. I’ve been through many earthquakes, so I’m fairly okay with all of that.

      Stay safe, Dee Dee.

I am so happy for Don to have some work and more episodes to film. Its hard when a profession you love ends, so lets hope he gets more work. Me? I’m happily retired! The pollen here in Georgia is awful so I’ve been fighting headaches and a runny nose all week. More rain please. I’m getting movers this month to finish packing and move me to the new duplex and I’ll be so grateful to have this behind me. It took so long to sort and empty Mom’s place so I can move in. Looking forward to summer and a little travel time.

We’ve had earthquakes before in NY State. We also had one in Michigan a few decades ago.

We didn’t feel this one, though a friend who lives north of us did.

Mostly people in PA and NJ.

      Stay safe, Vicki.

This is great, Claudia! So glad about the additional episodes. Sometimes a puzzle is the perfect thing for a big-time rainy day. Did you feel the earthquake today? I had concerns about your McCoy and egg cups falling. I hope all was OK.

Nope. We didn’t feel anything. I’ve lived through several earthquakes, though. We had one in NY when we first moved out here and, of course, many when I was living in CA.

I think it hit those who live in PA and NJ the most.

      Stay safe, Jeanie.

Didn’t feel it at all, though a friend of ours who lives in Woodstock (north of here) did. But nothing here.

      Stay safe, Kathy.

I am so glad Don had an enjoyable time on set despite the long commute. He must have been exhausted when he got home.
I experienced the earthquake here in South Jersey this morning. The earthquake occurred in North Jersey approximately an hour and a half from here. The house was shaking along with everything in the house. Thankfully, nothing was broken.

We’re not at all far from North Jersey, but we didn’t feel anything. Interestingly, a friend who lives in Woodstock – north of us – felt her house shake.

Hope it wasn’t too scary for you, Denise!

This one didn’t scare me, although it was startling. However, I experienced one in New Hampshire several years ago and that one was a bit frightening. The epicenter was somewhere in Massachusetts. The shaking seemed to go on for quite a while, but the frightening part was the loud sound. It sounded like a freight train.

Happy for Don and his work on a series. That is some commute though. Was thinking about you when reading about all the snow that snow dumped on the east coast. Must have missed you, thank goodness. That certainly is a detailed puzzle!

Had a heck of a week here where they started demo on our main bathroom Monday. Tuesday they framed in the new shower and plumbers and electricians in the rest of the week. Lots of noise and dirt and front door left open in freezing cold, snow showers weather all week. If our marriage survives this reno it’ll be the last one we have to do on this house.

    Take care,
    Kay

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
