It’s been pouring for the past 24 hours and that will continue to be the case today.
Rainy NYC is not fun. Ah well.
This will be a short one as I have to get going. I’m only spending one night in the city but that involves packing, nonetheless. Poor Don. He has one day off and it’s raining.
I went to bed early after getting frustrated with NBC’s coverage of the exhibition skating. There was a commercial before and after each skate and it was so choppy that I didn’t feel I was getting to see an event. Just clips.
I needed the sleep anyway.
And that, my friends, is all that’s happening. Rain, coffee, grabbing a bus into the city, grabbing some time with my husband.
And meeting my friend’s daughter, of course.
Happy Sunday.

It is raining here today also. Yesterday was lovely. Time with my sweet Grand and my Daughter on her birthday. I’m finally feeling a bit more energetic also! Yay! Today maybe more rest and reading.
Claudia says
Glad you had time with your family!

I’m addicted to the curling events, and stayed up late for the Women’s 30k cross country. So dramatic when the Austrian skier in second place made a wrong turn and her almost guaranteed silver medal evaporated….heart-breaking. Sorry for the rain, but I’m sure having a good time will go far in making up for the weather, Claudia.

There’s always heartbreak in the Olympics. I had a great day, despite the rain!

Where I live in the Pacific Northwest – I get the Canadian station, CBC. For years they have the best Olympic coverage – not many commercials and with the ice skating, this year they had Kurt Browning as moderator with two others – he was great!
Claudia says
Oh, don’t get me wrong. Our Olympic coverage was excellent and we had Johnny Weir and Tara Lipinski, along with Scott Hamilton and Tanith White talking about the ice skating. They were simply superb. It was just that one Exhibition event that I had a problem with.

I’m not sure I can pin-point exactly what it was, but I wasn’t really feeling it this year with the Olympics. Not sure what it was. Maybe so many new faces in who was covering the events? Maybe the lack of (IMO) human-interest stories (and NOT stories just about the US athletes) as there are interesting stories world wide? Maybe the constant “medal update” and where the US fell? All the same commercials over and over and over again? I’m not sure what it was. This morning I heard a blip that the head of the IOC was calling for a review of why the US had so few medals. Seriously?? If we aren’t #1 then there is something wrong?? WOW. Maybe I am just grumpy due to weather and winter. That is likely it.
I hope you have a wondrous day and a nice quiet evening with Don. That sounds great!!
Claudia says
I found them a much needed respite from all the other crap that’s happening in the world. Truly. I escaped into that world and I’m so grateful for it. I’ll miss the Olympics.
