Rainy Days

January 27, 2012 at 11:05 am by Claudia

Yesterday was rainy. Cold. Dreary. Lazy. Today looks to be the same.

I managed to amass a day’s worth of mugs and glasses on my little side table. I didn’t even get up to get my camera – I used the iPhone.

We ate dinner and lunch on trays in the den. That’s Don’s slipper to the right.

My new copy of Where Women Create arrived in the mail. I won a year’s subscription in a giveaway. I’m very grateful, because at $15 per issue, I would not be buying it in these frugal times.

Thank goodness for the flowers – they help to brighten up the day. We need to schedule another trip to Trader Joe’s. Next week.

(photos from the hipstamatic app on the iPhone.)

Thank you for all the wonderful hanging lamp suggestions. I knew you’d have some great ideas. Now, of course, I’m more confused than ever. So there it sits, on the kitchen table, calling to me.

My response? I don’t know what to do with you yet! But I will.

I hope your Friday is cheery, despite gray skies. Or maybe you’re blessed with beautiful weather today. Either way, enjoy!

I like the first picture with the mugs! It’s very cold and rainy here, too. I’m living on coffee these days (what’s new?!) and trying to light my candles in effort to brighten up my home a bit!!
Love Trader Joes, but too bad the closest one to me is 2 hrs. away. Have a blessed day,
    Leslie :)

Glad you are cozy inside, flowers, books, warm beverages. It was sunny Thursday so I took as many pictures as I could so I would have some sunshine to look at on the grey days.

More summer like weather here. We have hardly had a winter here and I love the rain as we do not get a lot. It was in the 80s yesterday with my kids in shorts.

The temps have been very mild here, but lots of gray and rainy days. My daffodils are starting to pop up and it’s not even February yet. Love that first pic! Have a happy weekend.

Isn’t it crazy on how a rainy day, we just can’t even get up for the camera. Good news, the sun is out here today and I will send it on it’s way. I’m thinking Sunday arrival. Yes, a trip to T.J. is what’s needed here too. Have a great weekend.

    Hello, Claudia
It’s another grey day here too, with a little bit of snow falling. I have a blooming potted hyacinth if you’d like to see it; after all, you shared your flowers (and I was testing out Fotoflexer).

This morning it was snowing. Then it was raining. It was like a skating rink out there. I tried to walk my way out of the parking lot to get to the bus stop but I had to turn back. Just too dangerous. So I cancelled my doctor’s appointment. If there is one thing that terrifies me, it’s falling and breaking a hip at my age. No thank you. I hope it never happens. This is one thing I don’t like about winter. The slipperiness. Now it’s not raining, it’s snowing very, very hard. A good day to stay in and once in a while look out the window and sigh and think how lucky I am to be in looking out. Enjoy your day, Claudia!

Looks like my kind of homebody day!
Scenes from a wonderful life. The pups are enjoying the down time too huh?
When I was younger I never relaxed and now I do all of the time.
Guess that is why I am fluffy.
I can’t wait to see what you do with the lamp.
Are you making popurri out of your faded flowers? I bet they would smell wonderful.
    Have a cozy weekend!

Love that first photo! Beautiful. Congratulations on winning a subscription to ‘Where Women Create.’ It’s beautiful – and horridly expensive to buy! I hope you won it in time to get the November, 2011 issue. That front cover is my dream room. sigh.

    Have a great weekend.

Your pictures are so retro looking, I love the application! I have something similar on my phone.

I love hearing about your day. It was gloomy here and I spent the day sipping coffee and watching movies. Hope tomorrow is sunny for both of us!

    Hey Girlfriend,

It’s been cloudy and cooler here, nothing like what the weather site said it was going to be. There’s no rain, but according to me and my mother’s bodies, we feel like it’s raining cat’s and dog’s. I haven’t checked in on you for about a week and I see that you have a dilemma about a hanging light fixture. BTW, the cloth covered cord is stunning…what a find! In my opinion (since you asked for it) I think you should leave the shade without fabric and maybe just pretty up the shade with some sort of silk flowers or bows made of ripped fabric. Leave the line of sight open because that cord and just a touch of fabric bows or silk flowers is all it needs to be amazing. It’s just my opinion….but you did ask…LOL. I truly hope and pray things look up for you soon dear friend Life has been such a struggle lately, and it can just wear a person down. I’m praying for extra strength and jobs for you both.

    God Bless,
    Meri

We also have been having very gray, rainy days, but today, thank goodness, the sun came out and the birds were singing their little hearts out. There’s hope!

Same weather here. The sun was out for about 10 minutes. It was so exciting. The first sn in 12 days. Didn’t last long, back to the cold rain. Oh well, it could be worse.

I feel certain there is a sun up there somewhere. When it does make a brief appearance, I try to take as many photos for my Etsy shop as I can. This seems to leave no time to get outside and take pictures. I am so ready for Spring.

You mean I am not the only one that sometimes I have a coffee cup, tea glass or diet pepsi can next to my chair on the table?

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
