We’re due for rain and thunder later today; the remnants of the terrible storm that has been crossing the country. Since we’ve had such cold temperatures lately, we haven’t heard the peepers, but I expect to start hearing them today or tomorrow.
I started painting yesterday, but it was frustrating. I’ve been away from it for several months and, let’s face it, it’s not something I’ve been doing all my life. I need to get my ‘mojo’ back. I was also being careful to protect my back and not lean forward too much. I adjusted the easel accordingly.
It’s as if I forgot a lot of the process. I know this is temporary and I just need to get back at it. I grabbed a piece of Roseville I hadn’t painted yet, but I’m not sure if that’s what I want to paint. Patience, Claudia, patience.
A photo to provide some cheer:
Seriously, could she be any cuter? That ensemble is from a woman in Spain. She makes the most beautiful clothes. And yes, the socks match the t-shirt.
Maybe I’ll just play with dolls today!
Stay safe.
Happy Thursday.

I want those pants. Those are so darned cute (the model is, too!)
I just published a post on jumpstarting my painting creativity. I haven’t really painted — apart from a few Christmas cards — since October. I went back to an early watercolor book for a little inspiration but this week I’ve been taking the free Sketchbook Revival online workshops to just get going and think outside of the box. I’ve done about four of them — they run the gamut from painting to collage/mixed media and more. All free — two a day and the ones past online till mid-April (which is good, because I joined late). Some of the things are hits, some misses, some I’m not interested in but I’ve enjoyed the ones I’ve done and the idea of having a specific project with an instructor to get me going again. Once I get habit I am fine. In the summer I paint every day and it shows. Now I just have to get back in the groove. (If you or anyone is interested, there is a link on my post at Marmelade Gypsy or google Sketchbook Revival 2022.)
You will, too.
The temps are dropping faster than anything here and it’s hugely windy. We had the rain storms too. Coming you way! Stay cozy. I’m doing more workshops today and snugging in with Eileen Atkins auto-bio, maybe watching the new HBO Max “Julia” — only three episodes; a reasonable binge! Happy day!
Claudia says
I know, I’d love those pants, too. I’m going to visit your blog and find that link, Jeanie. Sounds like a great idea.
Stay safe!
Linda says
Jeannie I have started to read your blog and I am really enjoying it.
Thank you very much

I’ve started to read it too, Jeanie!

Thank you, Colleen! Lovely!
MELANIE GRATTON says
You made me smile today. Maybe we should all take a day to just play.
Claudia says
I prescribe it for everyone!
Stay safe, Melanie.

oh my goodness these dolls are so adorable! I just got my spring fairy garden pieces out that I have dispersed around my home. It brings such joy to me. Yes, it’s supposed to start raining around noon today up here in Queensbury NY and continue until tonight. It will get rid of any remnants of winter to some of the shaded areas. I do see specks of new life popping up from my tulips and daffodils. I am getting excited!!
Claudia says
I haven’t looked for my daffodils yet, but some of my day lilies are poking through the ground.
Stay safe, Mamey!

I have started to look forward to seeing one of the girls every day. The wardrobe is just so sweet, cute, precious and amazing! To think someone sees these tiny things! Yes, just relax and play with the dolls!
Claudia says
They’re such fun to dress and pose, Judy! I’m very happy to hear you enjoy seeing them.
Stay safe.

Ha! Catching up from yesterday’s post and indeed you have a new b&w photo and you look like a movie star, Claudia! Very cool shot. Did Don take it?
PS: The girls are fab; love your collection of clothes for them; just darling and so well made. You have our permission (!!!!) to play with dolls today; yay!
Claudia says
Don took it about 4 or 5 years ago when we were driving across the country – from California to New York.
Thanks my friend.
Stay safe.
Martha says
I love the photo, too!! Love the atti-tude!!
Catching up again here. Your blog gives me such a recharge so needed.
Continue well.
Bisous xoxo
Claudia says
I was acting pouty to correspond with my new sun glasses! On purpose, of course, and Don snapped the picture.
Stay safe, Martha!
Martha says
I just saw the photo, too, playing catch-up
Love it!!
Petra says
Hi Claudia, your photo is way cool!
And, eh, couldn’t you try to paint one of the girls? A sure way to get your mojo up, and no mistake.
Claudia says
I’m not sure how I’d do with ‘people’ Petra. But I’ve thought about it.
Stay safe!

I’m loving our Western Chorus frogs–the Sierra version of peepers! They are small, but mighty. I get to hear them each night as I take our pup out before bedtime.
You are inspiring me to look through my doll patterns to create a boho/folk look for the newest doll I’m hoping to get. Dolls are such fun–I’m glad I have some grands to spoil with dollies and accessories. Shhh! Don’t tell them that means I get to play dolls too.
I have a project or two (or more) to finish first, but watercolors are sounding their siren song. Sounds like I’m not alone on my art journey!
Stay happy and keep recovering!
Claudia says
Sounds like we’re all eager to create, Roxie!
Stay safe.

I might copy those pants for my daughter. She needs knee patches and that seems a cute idea for her.
Claudia says
Oh, do! I bet that would be adorable!
Stay safe.
Terri says
Have you considered pairing one of your dolls?
Claudia says
Not really. I’m not ready yet to do faces. Maybe in the future?
Thanks, Terri.
Stay safe.

I am wondering what is going on. People dying. In a war…Covid not going away…and people upset over two men fighting on television. I don’t have television but I do have Hulu and you tube
This is shocking…I read about it and thought really?
Claudia says
It was violence – live on television – to an audience of millions.
Stay safe.
Linda MacKean says
It is taking me awhile to get back to the same skill level I was a few years ago with my watercoloring. Still I’m enjoying it and vow to not stop painting for several years like I did before. Cute outfit!
Claudia says
I have to stop during the winter because the only available space is the kitchen table and I’m usually working a puzzle. I’ll take your words to heart, though, and be patient with myself.
Stay safe, Linda.
