Random on Thursday

May 19, 2011 at 11:08 am by Claudia

I don’t know if I’ve ever done a Random post on a Thursday… it usually seems to fall on Wednesday or Friday. Time to shake things up a little. (This is about as daring as I get.)

:: Chloe is with me on this trip. For those of you who are newer readers of this blog, Chloe accompanies on all my longer coaching stints. A few years back, I had to be away from MHC for 6 months. Yes, you read that correctly. I was a mess at the thought of being away from my husband and dogs for that long. Don, knowing me all too well, decided that Chloe should go along for the ride. I don’t know about you, but I need something to cuddle.

:: Chloe is sitting on the sofa in the above photo. Our company manager has done a nice job of temporarily decorating this apartment and I’m grateful. But all these beigey earth tones are getting to me. I miss my colorful home. (It ain’t so easy styling a photo for the blog, either!)

:: Big news: I am now driving a new rental car. It would be impossible to underestimate how this has changed my life here. No more obsessive looks at the gas gauge. No more wondering if the car will start. No more driving with the windows shut so I don’t have to smell the exhaust pouring from the rear of the car. The theater really listened. Thank you.

:: Because of this change in car status, I drove to a neighboring town yesterday. I didn’t have to worry about how much gas would be sucked out of the tank on a 19 mile jaunt. There were supposed to be 3 antique shops there. Farming seems to be the lifeblood of some of these towns and I fear the economy has taken its toll. Only one was still open. I saw a few interesting items and the owners had two dogs which always makes me smile. I may go back. Once again, I didn’t take any photos because it was raining. Someday… I promise you.

:: Speaking of farming, this morning I saw a lone golfer on the course. He was probably in his seventies. He had on one of those John Deere-like caps, a flannel shirt and overalls. He looked like he’d just climbed down from his tractor and decided to hit the links. Adorable.

:: Mama is still sitting on the nest. Any day now. I’ll keep you posted.

:: I couldn’t get to sleep for a long time last night. We had evening rehearsal, so I didn’t get home until late. Then I proceeded to read my mystery in bed. I read too long. I find that I cannot go past a certain moment of all-enveloping sleepiness. If I do, then I’m suddenly wide awake. That’s what happened. All the images from my reading were racing around in my head and just wouldn’t go away.

:: Thank you for all the wonderful comments about my last post. I love hearing your thoughts. I’m wondering if I should add a new category to the tabs at the top of my blog. Perhaps it should be called ‘Rants?’ Or maybe I should go with something less obvious.

Claudia, I am so glad to hear that you are in a rental car. That other one just didn’t seem safe. Three o’clock in the morning is when I get my best ideas for what to do tomorrow. I don’t like waking up like that, but I do put the time to good use.LOL

How about a new category called something like….”In My Humble Opinion”? I love it when you rant. “Rants” would do too…

rant and rave…i would read it!!!!! i love to read your posts. you have magic!!!
good luck with your work. i can’t imagine being away from home, though i must admit i wish i could escape at least once a day…lol. ron is almost NEVER home. he travels at least 3 weeks out of the month.
i think the bear is sweet. my son is 11 and still sleeps with 4 stuffed animals EVERY night. he would be so ashamed if he knew i just typed that….but he says he needs something to cuddle and something to scare off the monsters. my mom still sleeps with her stuffed animals and if i had to travel that long away from home, i’d bring a vintage pillow or two for sure!!!!
have fun on your adventures. good luck with sleeping. i too can go past tired to wired if i stay up past 1am. if i am up until 1, i am up until 4. it stinks.
    hang in there. stay safe.

So glad to hear about your new car. I think I should have “rants” on my blog, too. Seems so much to rant about lately,
    Love and miss you,

I miss Wisconsin farm country. We used to own 90 acres right in the middle of it. Farmers are the most generous, caring, good-hearted neighbors a person could ever be blessed to know. I’m really looking forward to spending some time back “home” this summer.

Chloe looks like the perfect companion while you are away from home. Congratulations on the new vehicle. How wonderful to have freedom to explore. I so relate to the beyond sleep point which is so frustrating. I adore farmers and their farms…so homey.

I’m so happy for the change in your car situation! What a relief to have a reliable and more cost efficient way to get around.

I looooved your rant the other day! Bravo!! Oh, how I wish that I were as articulate as you. If I were, I might add a little ranting into my own little blog. Thank goodness for my friends in the “Non-Bloglandia World” that let me carry on. One must vent once in a while, right?

Oh- I found some Vernors the other day at my favorite market. Oh my goodness… it’s just as good as you said it was!

    Hugs,
    Jill

Good morning from Frog Hollow Farm! I’m impressed that you even have some sense of order with when you do random posts – my posting style is all over the place!

So happy to hear that you have another car and could take a drive out to investigate those antique shops – I hope you do get to go back to check out the ones that weren’t open. I love finding new little places to poke around in.

Cute little golfer visual – was he really on the golf course?? I’m imagining the golfers out there driving around the courses in little John Deere tractors rather than golf carts, but that’s how my mind wanders sometimes!! Take care. xxoo

Ranting is good for the soul! At least it is for me… Glad you have a good rental car, it makes such a difference being able to get out and be comfortable and SAFE. I always think of my trips as adventures and chapters in my “book of life”. WHAT A BOOK!!! Love reading your posts.
    Blessings, Linda

Whew! I am so glad to read you have new wheels. Now, you don’t have to deal with that frustration.

And, I am very happy you have Chloe to cuddle. We all need our warm and fuzzy times.

I hope you will be able to participate in Pink Saturday’s 3rd birthday on May 28. I’ve missed you and your pink.♥

    Hi Claudia,
Chloe is so cute! I can relate to your little bear comforting you. My son gave me a stuffed Snoopy for Mother’s Day. He is in college at this time and knows I always have thought Snoopy was cute. Anyway, a couple of days later, my hubby went out of town. I slept with this Snoopy every night and held it next to me. Even though I had my little Maltese, Sadie Mae, next to me—somehow the Snoopy completed my comfort and helped me to sleep. Give your little bear a hug and have a beautiful day! xoxo Kim

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
