Reality Shot Thursday #6

November 3, 2011 at 12:01 am by Claudia

Hi everyone! It’s that time again. Time to share a real moment in time, warts and all. No prettily staged photos here!

This week I’m sharing something that might be viewed as pretty in another season, but was anything but pretty when it arrived last Saturday.

Heavy, wet snow which arrived on October 29th in the form of a Nor’easter and dumped about 8 inches of snow in my neck of the woods.

It also caused the loss of power to millions of homes. Thankfully, our power stayed on and we were spared. It has melted almost completely as I write this post. But we’ll never forget the snow that damaged trees and power lines and still-green vegetation 2 days before Halloween.

That must have been a real shock! I did read about people who didn’t have heating or hot food because of the power going down. We are lucky over here, our power cables are all below ground.
The weather has been rather strange lately, over here as well! We’re having temperatures of 65 to 70 degrees, which is almost like summer for us (gives you an idea of what our summers are like, haha). Nature is confused, I saw a duck building a nest yesterday. I told her she was didn’t have to bother, but she didn’t listen to me.
Apparently we will be getting a very cold winter.

Unbelievable. It’s so hard to believe it snowed already! Sorry you all have gone through such a hassle.

We’ve had squirrels in our eave. Fortunately, I caught it before they did anything too bad. But it is an expensive proposition.

    XO,

    Sheila

Unbelieavable! That’s one Halloween you won’t forget! On another note…I have my dollhouse all prepped and I started on it yesterday! I could not believe how much I had neglected it but it cleaned up nicely with new paint and I have already been to Hobby Lobby and purchased any necessary tools. I can’t believe how much is online about miniatures…some for free! I will be doing a post on it soon!~Hugs, Patti

And I was going to complain about the acorns that are falling like hail here! Hope that has all melted and that your plants didn’t suffer too badly. Thanks for hosting. Ann

    Hello Claudia,

That storm was a hard dose of reality, wasn’t it? It came so early. Hope you are back to normal now.

Welcome!

Welcome!

I live in a little cottage in the country with my husband. It's a sweet place, sheltered by old trees and surrounded by gardens. The inside is full of the things we love. I love to write, I love my camera, I love creating, I love gardening. My decorating style is eclectic; full of vintage and a bit of whimsy.

I've worked in the theater for more years than I can count. I'm currently a voice, speech, dialect and text coach freelancing on Broadway, off Broadway, and in regional theater.

Thanks for stopping by.
