Really?

snow1

Come on. Really? Haven’t we had enough already?

Just having spotted robins frolicking in my yard, along with bluejays and woodpeckers and all sorts of wee little birds, plus a bunny or two, you might excuse me for my disbelief and, let’s be frank here, disgust at what awaited me when I woke this morning.

I am over it.

And it’s wet, icy, sleety snow. Oh joy. What fun it will be to shovel the drive yet again! And I really do have to help Don this time. This stuff isn’t easy.

snow2

Even Scout looked stunned.

Those of you who have been complaining about the “cold” temperatures in your neck of the woods, i.e., my sister and my father, to name but two, can shut up now. Truly. I don’t want to hear another word.

Pardon me while I scream.

The fabric eggs in yesterday’s post were made from a pattern I found on Retro Mama. Click here.

And now for some splashes of color on a dull day. First, I’m going to hang one of my Springtime Crochet Flower Garlands somewhere in the house (there are new ones in the shop.)

And for more color, today’s egg cups:

eggcups2

With our focus now on chicks and ducks, we have two little chicks on a teeter-totter on the left, a sweet chick hatching in the center and a mama and her babies on the right. The egg cups on the left and right were made in Japan. The one in the center was made in Portugal.

Whimsical: lightly fanciful. That’s what my sweet little egg cups are. Whimsical.

There are many whimsical touches in my cottage. Do you have a touch of whimsy in your home?

Happy Tuesday.

Snow! How awful! We have freezing weather this morning, but no snow. (I’m near Seattle.) Let’s hope for sunshine and warmth soon. I love your egg cups and have a few sitting around myself, but mine aren’t vintage but like you, they make me happy. And thank you for the link to the fabric eggs. I am going to make a few later today. So cute.

Hi, Claudia. Yes, I have touches of whimsy throughout my house–those little things with a sentimental attachment or memory that brightens my day and make me smile. I also have five inches of new snow in my driveway. I am so sick of winter!!! I’m finding the theme of my blog this week a little difficult…act happy week. With windchills of minus twenty?? We got a couple of inches of snow overnight yesterday, but it is (mercifully) almost all melted now. The ground is totally squishy, though. I imagine that it will dry out just in time for the annual summer drought. :)

The weather reports from the east are truly dismal. But winter simply cannot last forever. Here things are blooming, but there was frost last night. Winter seems to be lingering as long as he can.

Whimsy. I love that word. Yes, there are bits of whimsy in my house – a collection of feathers from the beach, a fun pillow or two, and other things I can’t think of at the moment. Whimsy makes a home personal. Love your egg cups and those fabric eggs. Thanks for the link to the project.

I feel your pain. We had 5 inches yesterday and AFTER THAT had additional Winter Weather Advisories for blowing and drifting. Unreal. A year ago today it was 81*. I would take 41* at this point. Our wind chills are below zero and to continue for the next 3-5 days. The weather forecasters this AM said that looking out 10 days there are no temps near 40* to be seen. And I am afraid what we get here blows on through towards you. In July, when it is nearing 100*, we will all have to remind each other of the spring that (possibly) never came and how we complained about the cold. We currently still have about 14 inches of snow on the ground, and that makes it really hard for the temps to rise much. And, after saying all of that, if this is the biggest complaint / problem that I have for today…. it possibly is a pretty good day after all.

I’m so sorry you’re having another go-round Claudia! I heard the weather forecast yesterday and thought of all my midwest and east coast blogging pals and feel so sad you’re being hit again. We are having the silliest of weather in So. Cal. up and down but its just tedious and a minor annoyance.

Hoping Spring arrives faster than fast for you!

Your egg cups are the absolute cutest. And you’ve started something – I immediately went to Etsy to see what was for sale. Now I want my own collection, you naughty encourager hahahaha. I am in a very weakened state — struggling over tax paperwork — and I’d better hide the plastic. Yesterday (due to my tax induced malaise teehee) I ordered things for my niece who is getting married – today may be chicks and bunnies!

I think I have more whimsical, cute knick knacks than “grown up” ones? I love sweet little things, so charming.

I do have some pale pink, but I’m not sure if there’s enough for a garland – I have some green which is lovely, too – a soft celadon. I’ll see how many flowers the pink will make up and we can go from there.

Backyard has gone down some due to the dog running around on it. Windchills are below zero today. It is really whipping the snow around. Tomorrow is spring…REALLY? But at least the sun is out today. Guess we will be glad for the moisture when all this snow melts. That should help with last years drought a little bit. O.k. enough of a rant. Slap me in aug when I am complaining about the heat!

When will this winter stuff end? Just got home from visiting friends in Houston last night – it was around 80 degrees all weekend. I almost caught myself complaining about being “hot” – but wised up and stopped myself. And today, back in KC, it is currently snowing. Oh smiles! It’s not sticking, but still! Our forecast for the weekend calls for snow as well. This weekend was to be my son’s first baseball tourney of the season – and the coach has thankfully pulled us out of the tourney due to unbearable cold for baseball players and spectators alike! Here’s hoping Claudia that this was your last shovel of the year!

Ah, we have the same snow, but since it’s hitting in the 40s this afternoon, and will be warmer tomorrow, I’m going to let Mother Nature shovel this mess. My husband hates when I do that, but tough noogies… I’ll wait it out till it melts. Less than 2 inches of snow doesn’t need shoveling — not when you can walk thru it.
So consider my method — believe me, in 2 days it will all be gone!
And you won’t have sore muscles.

We almost had spring! But then a snowstorm blew into town last week. 30 cms of snow, blowing, drifting and making life miserable. We stayed home, stayed warm and waited it out. The sun came out and the melt began. Today, the news reported that another major storm will hit tomorrow night with more snow than last night.

    Sigh!
