My friends, our sweet Riley is having some problems right now. We have given him some medication and are waiting to see if it helps him. If it doesn’t, we will have to take him to the doctor. He has always had health challenges and they seem to be getting worse. Today he couldn’t get up from the floor.

My Mother is also ailing and I will be going down to Florida to see her next Wednesday. I am trying to stay positive about things, but it is next to impossible at the moment. Whatever your beliefs, could you send your thoughts, prayers, healing energy and love to my Mom and Riley? They need them. I need them.

  1. Sorry to hear that Riley and your Mom have both been having some health issues. You are going through some of the same things I went through this past year. Sending you hugs as you take care of all the loves in your life.

  4. Absolutely, Claudia, you, your mom and sweet Riley are in my prayers.

    The same thing happended with Kodak and in his case it’s his spine. He’s on Metacam now and it has helped tremendously!

  9. Claudia…I am so sorry to hear about your mom and your sweet Riley. It’s so hard when a human and a canine loved one is sick. I can sure relate. Our Jack Russell Obie is sick. He has diabetes. We have made the decision to see him through no matter what and some days that’s hard for us and of course for him. He pees on the floor, vomits about once a week a good amount and a good deal of the time is not feeling well…but we’ll go to the end with him cause we love him and he loves us.:) My mom died in 1998…five years after my dad did and all she wanted was to be with him. It’s hard to split yourself in two sometimes but you only get one mom. I hope you have help and that you are not the only one involved in her care at this point. I will be praying for you and her and Riley every day. Please pray also for our Obie would you? Thanks in advance! Hang in there…God will provide for you. Oh!! And congratulations on your blog being in the romantic homes mag!!!! That’s HUGE!!! Yeeeeehaaaaaa!!

    I’ve got you, your mom and Riley in my prayers and healing thoughts. My heart goes out to you at this time, as it is difficult and you and Don have not had the easiest of years so far. Please take comfort from all of your blogging friends and especially your family…..we’re all here for you.

    I am so sorry to hear about sweet Riley this morning. My thoughts and heartfelt prayers are on their way and I’m sending some from Zeke and all the cats here too… know your dogs aren’t particularly fond of cats but if Zeke tells the cats to do something… well… they just have to listen to our Mountain of Fluff! Riley and Scout are practically “fam” here, well, that’s how we think of those darling babies of yours!

  14. Consider it on the list. I know we are entering that challenging switch where the Parents become the Kids and we become the Parents. Hang in there. Sure hope Riley is on the mends. Maybe, it the heat. Probably the same there as it’s going to be in Florida.

    Sometimes it feels like everything bad happens at once. I pray for your sweet Mom. Seeing your sweet Riley just breaks my heart because his face is so sweet. I can tell from his expression that he is an amazing friend. I had a Golden a few years back & she had the same sweet smile. Her hair turned all grey too as she aged. She’s chasing squirrels in the sky now. My thoughts are with you my friend. Lisa

  42. Poor Riley. Poor Mom. I hope they both get to feeling better. It is always so hard when our animals are ill and they can’t tell us what’s wrong and how they feel.

  43. Oh Claudia, you know that my prayers are on their way for Riley and your mom, and for you as well. It is very hard and stressful when your mother is ill. I hope that she recovers quickly and that she has no long term issues. Your dogs are more than just pets to you, I know so I truly hope and pray that Riley is okay.

    Its hard when our furbabies are ill..our 8 year old doxie Halo was sick yesterday, a trip to the vet..he is doing better today but still a little worried.
