Recipe for an aching back? Picking up hundreds of rocks from my front yard. And there are thousands more, my friends. Talk about a frustrating task! Every time I think I have a little area cleared, as if by magic, more appear. And where the heck am I going to put them all? The larger ones will be used to further define the edges of my garden beds. The little ones? I have no idea!
Though today is about 20 degrees cooler, the last two days have been glorious. Temps in the 60’s, sun shining…oh spring, please come soon! I hope you’ve been having some spring-like weather in your neck of the woods. I have been extolling the virtues of spring so much that I briefly forgot that spring means no more of this:
Oh no! How can I go on? Fortunately, there will still be a few weeks (or more) of cooler temps, giving me more opportunities to wear my flannel pajamas. This is the Northeast, after all.
Thanks for all the wonderful comments on yesterday’s post. A couple of things come to mind: my friend Barbara said that she thinks women have been taught not to ‘toot our own horns’ and I think she’s right. I’ve always had a reluctance to do so and that hasn’t always served me well. I was speaking about those who seem to post only (and endlessly) about their accomplishments. It gets old, fast. But, yes, I could probably toot my own horn a little more than I do. But only a little.
The other thing I want to touch on is that I know many of you must promote your blog business and/or your Etsy shop and that the accepted method to do these things has become social media – using Twitter and Facebook to help get the word out there. That requires a juggling act of sorts, which must be time-consuming. But if you need to promote your business, you have to do it.
I know that writers hoping to get published are told to get a Facebook page because publishers and agents will automatically check to see how many fans or likes they have. That has become the way of the world in this century. The work can’t speak for itself? It all seems so exhausting.
There’s much to think about.
Okay. I’m not tooting my own horn, but you asked for photos of the hair cut.
I took these with my iPhone – always tricky. It’s just a simple cut, but I had about 4 inches chopped off. I feel so much better. And because I always feel awkward having my picture taken:
See? All about me, me, me.
I look rather startled.
And a little nuts.
I am.
Have a great Friday!

I have to laugh. You have on squirrel jammies on and you say you are nuts. Then you are out in your yard picking up rocks….endless rocks. Maybe you could list the rocks on Craig’s List. Instead of saying curbside say pick your own. Only kidding. I am sure it is a pain and a pain in the back.
Your hair looks great. The first picture comes through my screen with the bottom half covered in gray. This has been happening to me on other blogs. Anyone know why.
Have a good week-end Claudia.

I’m considering using the old rock and bricks (former owner collected bricks) around the house to make an ‘old’ gate post or something (in the garden, for the climbing plants to grow on) that looks like an old home used to be on this site. It won’t be giant but it would be quirky. (I know, I know, you’re thinking “You first.”) I can’t throw them in the trash, what is a person supposed to do with old rocks?

Well all about You,you. Love your blog. I just can here you saying it. ME,ME. I am laughing.
Your a very pretty lady. I love
your hair cut. I had that cut for years. Now I have a real short, short cut but I was brave to have the change. Mother time is now upon me. So I had to make that change to short.
Well we are all nuts here so you
have us Squirrels with you 100%.
My friend said her and hubby had cut down a tree yesterday and the Squirrels were going NUTs.
So then I thought that is it. Squirrels we are.

I love your haircut. You do have beautiful hair to begin with. I like how it waves. I agree with Patti when she says that most people are nuts. It makes me feel good when I read something like that. It makes me feel not so alone in this big, wide world! Ha Ha Ha!

The haircut looks great!
We have lots of rocks here, too. Sometimes I think they ‘grow’ out there. More and more seem to pop up.
Have a good weekend.

Hi Claudia,
I always enjoy reading your posts..I want you to know I read everyone, but don’t always have time to comment. I got such a chuckle out of your Pj’s how darn adorable..and I love your hair cut and style, my hair is fine too and when its to long I feel like it makes me looks like I’m still in high school way back in 74 when I graduated…LOL..and so last month I cut my hair really short for me, its like a bob,I like it and its a nice change for me. Sometimes us girls just have to charge our style a little bit and then our world looks a little brighter.
Enjoy your weekend! and big hugs, Elizabeth

I had a hard time forcing myself to share my blog on FB and that is just with family and friends. I wonder if it annoys them. “Here she goes again shoving her blog down our throats”. The, I realized that they don’t need to click on the link and I’m just letting them know there is a new post. ~ Maureen

I love it. I always struggle with how long my hair should be as I get older but I just look terrible with short hair. I guess it is what we like right? You look MAWWWvelous!

The new haircut is lovely, Claudia. Maybe you could use the new space you have (and all those rocks!) to make a meditation labyrinth?

Age? What’s that? I love that we can have long hair and especially gray hair in our latter years! My hair has been silver for years. I prefer to call it gun metal gray, and that’s fine w/me. It gets lots of compliments.
I love your haircut and I’m so jealous. I have baby fine hair and have just always kept it on the short side. You look beauitful! I’m sure Don loves it.

The hair looks terrific. Baby fine hair is tricky. I have it and mousse it up and defy gravity and make it stand straight up. Mine is very short. Your rocks are cousins to my millions of pine cones.

Hi Claudia, your hair looks great. My hairdresser bought a house in New Mexico that she is redoing so while her hubby is here still working, she is over there seeing to the renovations and only comes back every 3-4 months. I have to find someone else to go to and just haven’t done so yet, so I am way overdue for cut and color.
Glad to hear you’ve had nice weather for outdoor work. A few summers ago, I took a road trip with my boys and aunt to North Carolina — my uncle came along from Ohio and actually found big rocks in the woods next to my aunt’s house there that he loaded up in his truck and hauled back to OH for his garden. He’s a crazy, funny guy.
I love your posts, your honesty. I don’t do any other social media. Just my little blog. My friends can’t seem to understand why I don’t want to do Facebook or some messenger thing call whats app that they all use for contact. I just have zero interest in all that other stuff. I told them, if you want to be in touch with me, then send me a personal sms, or call me, or send me an email. Everyone seems to have forgotten about those modes of communication in this day and age. I refuse to run with the masses on this one. Call me old fashioned, I’m good with that. I think the whole world has gone a bit crazy with social media. I know my limitations and I know I can’t do it all, nor do I want to.
I’d like to knock some heads together when it comes to those who still think they can text and drive. Happens waaaaayy too much in this country and no laws to stop it. We already have a high rate of accidents. You would think they’d do something.
Wishing you a wonderful weekend. Tammy

Claudia, You got a hair cut??? Your hair is pretty, how long was it?? Claudia, maybe you could make a spot with all the little rocks, then make it sort of a rock garden . I have half a million hickory nuts shells to clean up before we roll the lawn. :( Bummer. Wishing you a wonderful weekend, Smiles, Susie )She Junks)

Love the haircut! You have the most beautiful color hair.
About the rocks… Every time it rains, more rocks will be unearthed. Be prepared to pick up rocks for a long time. Take the small ones and fill in an area, making a rock garden. I have a place where the water stands, and nothing grows well, so I filled it with some pea gravel, and then started putting rocks in it. I set various garden art and large potted plants there. Looks cute and you don’t have to mow or weed eat around the pots and art.

I always feel lighter on my feet after my hair cut. Looks great! of course I was eyeing your McCoy!

I love your flannel jammies! Your new haircut is very flattering. A couple years ago I had about eight inches taken off so it was just below the shoulders and it’s so much easier to take care of.
Not sure of how many smaller rocks you have, but if you have a lot, you could make a small dry creek bed in one of the flower beds.
Have a great day!

I think your hair looks “simply maaahvalous” – I love the fact that it is gray. There is a website that is also on Facebook called “Gray is the New Black” that you should post your photo on. It gives encouragement to women who are growing out their hair to their natural gray (like me).

Hi Claudia!
Great haircut. I bet you feel great.
I haven’t cut mine for over 15 months so it is WAY too long. I have just simply neglected myself.
However I did cut bangs a few weeks ago… traumatized me for a few days. But now with my black eye it at least covers the swollen brow bone so the sunglasses hide most of the damage. Might post the new sunglasses/bang look today.
